I am so ready for the X-Files to come back tonight. I enjoyed its brief run last year and am looking forward to it tonight. Who else will be watching?

Can't wait. Still love. Do you guys realize the original XF pilot is 25 years old now?

thanks for the reminder. i'll have to check and make sure it wasn't set on the DVR box that crashed. we lost a lot of set recordings on that box and when we think it recorded and we don't see it, we think "crap, it was on the box that crashed. gotta put it on one of the other boxes".

I hope Since it’s continuing that there will be some of the old school type episode that aren’t all alien related. Those were my favorite. Like the sewer parasite man, the HOA mud monster, Eugene Tombs, etc.

I was a die-hard fan 'back in the day' but I don't think I watched them all last year. Or if I did watch all of them, it wasn't like I remembered it being, so it didn't blow me away. But I'm going to try it again...
ETA: the monster-type episodes were always my favorite, too!! Fluke-man in the porta-potty is one I STILL remember, lol. The commercial I saw for the new season said something about the possible existence of a parallel universe, which makes me think it will end up being way too similar to the TV show Fringe.

Thanks for the reminder. I watched several episodes of the old show last week when they were having a marathon and wanted to remember to watch the new show. I hope it is good. I NEED something good to watch. TV has been a vast wasteland lately.

I didn’t watch last year. Do you think it’s necessary to see those for this season? I’ll probably just record since The Librarians is also on.

I set my DVR last week just in case. I always liked the stand alone episodes the best as well—the ones with the weird monsters. I thought about watching some of the old episodes on Amazon.

Mostly not, but you might want to know how the last one ended. Oh well, I'm sure they'll show it ... "previously on The X-Files ... " Oh, you probably also want to know that it started out with them both being dragged back to the FBI for some mythology-related reason I don't remember. They weren't living together anymore (see: second movie), mostly because Mulder is loonytoons and living like a hermit, babbling about aliens. Scully is looking very thin and old, but what do you expect? 25 years later.

Well DH called me right in the middle so I had one ear listening to him and one ear listening to the show. Did I totally catch that the paternity of William is not what we think it is? I don't want to say more because I don't want to spoil. But damn, that really disappoint me.

When you watch it come back and fill me in. Because I just was doing a half ass job listening to DH and the show at the same time.

I went over to my best friend's house (she is a mega XF fan) and we had a lot of fun watching tonight's episode. She had found a couple of XF bingo cards and printed them up. As far as the spoiler, nothing is ever what it appears on this show. On a personal note, I'm happy that Skinner will be in more episodes. He's my favorite.

Watched it. The pacing was different than usual (fast) and they really tried to move way into the story. Not sure I like where it is going though (also saw an MSN article about Gillian threatening to quit, I am worried not only that she will/has, but that she has good reason to).
I usually like the big picture episodes, but this one was definitely missing some of the great humor and nice moments. I wonder if it will be a real hodge-podge season--"monster of the week" one week, serious big picture another, something goofy the next, etc.
I will be quite sad if this is their last season (or with Gillian). Esp. if it is not a decent Scully storyline. I hope that is wrong.
I feel so old having seen how they all have aged.

I wasn't thrilled with this opener and especially the potential news about their son. That said, there are more episodes in this season, so hopefully they'll be able to settle in to more than just the central story and insert some of their humor & 'monster' tales.
Gosh, I'm still scarred by "Home". Freaked. Me. Out.

oooh, Home- ick! things under the bed...
I still remember the Chaco chicken episode, too-- IIRC, it had some pretty good one-liners in. Even though it was about cannibalism, I'm pretty sure I laughed quite a few times!

I didn't love this episode. I hope the remaining ones improve. I think XF is at its best with MOTW episodes that inject a lot of humor. We've had enough of Scully in a hospital bed.
Also, I'm just gonna say it: David Duchovny looks rough. His face is oddly puffy.

I didn’t care for it too much but that is probably because I am not really up on the storyline. I did stick around for 9-1-1 which followed X-Files. I liked it.
