I have a birthday coming up and thinking of things to put on my wishlist. At the moment I have one of the original Silhouette Cameo's which really works just fine as I've never really used it all that much until recently. Now that I am using it more often I've thought about whether or not it would be worth upgrading to the newest model. But I can't really seem to find anything that would give me a decent review or rundown of what is different in the newest model from my original model so I can decide whether or not it would be worth upgrading when there is really nothing wrong with what I have now. Can anyone help out and share their thoughts?

I don't actually have a 3 but have done a lot of research on it, so I'll give you my thoughts but take it with a grain of salt since I do not own the 3. I own the original Cameo like you.
Differences Now has dual carriage system (so you could put both a blade and pen in at the same time, without having to stop the machine to switch out the blade for a pen)
Uses the auto blade (you no longer have to take the blade out and manually adjust it)
Is quite a bit larger because of all the onboard storage
Has Bluetooth capability (so you don't have to connect to it via cable)
It has a 2mm clearance for thicker cutting materials and you can use the new deep cut blade
Okay, so now I'll tell you what I think about those features: I think the dual carriage is a nice feature, but with how I use my Cameo, not worth it to me
Basically the way it changes the blade setting on the auto blade is to take the blade housing and click it against the machine really loudly. It's hard to describe but when I helped someone with their machine in person, to me it was very loud and annoying. I'd prefer just to change my blade the old fashioned way.
Personally I like my original Cameo better since it's smaller, the 3 was noticeably larger. The way I have mine set up the 3 wouldn't fit in the cubby where I have my current Cameo
I have heard that the Bluetooth does not work well. I don't know if that issue has been fixed but when it first came out pretty much everyone had a problem with it.
While the extra clearance and deep cut blade are positive, keep in mind that the cutting force is EXACTLY the same as previous models, so it will not magically be able to cut much thicker materials (for example, the Cricut has a much greater cutting force than the Cameo so can cut materials the Cameo can't...but that's a whole different discussion)
I'd recommend watching some reviews that Ken's Kreations has on Youtube.
With all this in mind, I would not choose to upgrade my Cameo yet. Hopefully when they eventually come out with the 4, it will have a greater cutting force which to me might make the upgrade worth it. Again, I don't actually own a 3 but this is what I've found out.

I would agree with wendifful.
Bluetooth sucks big time. I’m also angry that my folly tote for my original silhouette is not big enough for the 3.

I love mine. The autoblade is such a nice feature, the noise doesn't bother me at all, and the machine cuts like butter. Since mine is on my main work table, I don't use the Bluetooth most of the time. After the first firmware updates it has worked fine the few times when I have, though.

I have to agree with mygigiscraps. I love mine too. However, I wouldn't recommend you upgrading. If your haven't used your original Cameo much, it's brand new, and honestly, the latest features of the 3 are really not worth it. I upgraded because I used my original Cameo all the time. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it, but I justified the upgrade when I was able to sell my original and bring the cost of the upgrade down.

Thanks for the info. I am using the Cameo quite a bit now but I think I'll just stick with what I have until something significantly better comes along or mine breaks down!
