The figure skater? She's still around? No I didn't watch it but I always preferred her over Nancy Kerrigan.

I watched it even though I think it's ridiculous it's still being talked about 23 years later and that there's a movie about it. She really didn't come across as very likable and I think she's still lying about some things. The first time I saw her skate, though, I was amazed by her. I thought she was great. I was happy for her when she won the national title. I had no idea about her rough life and how the skating community didn't really like her until after the attack. I think she's paid for her part in the attack and I hope she's able to live a happier life now.

I watched it. I missed some parts due to taking dogs out, picking up daughter from practice.
The family was a mess. What is the truth!?! Yes, the mom and her brandy flavoring. Sure. I believe she had a hard life, but she rubs me the wrong way. She is very strong, she wasn't giving anything up!

She'll probably never tell the entire truth.
I have to say I'm in awe of Tanya's athletic ability. I have heard that when they were making the movie they had to computer generate her famous jump because they couldn't find anyone who can do it. I was listening to my local sports talk radio station yesterday and they were saying that only two other female skaters have ever completed her triple (I can't remember the technical name).
I was impressed w/ her skating at the end of the show!

Oh I wished I knew it was on. I think Tonya is lying. But I know several people who saw the movie and said you can't take the word of her abuser (husband) who said she knew. But really he did that to benefit her so of course she was in on it!
There was a lot of talk on twitter about having her at the Golden Globes where everyone was wearing black to support women yet here is a woman who allegedly attacked another woman.

I never though that nancy Kerrigan was as pure as she was portrayed to be.

I haven't watched it. She lives in my area though, so Tonya sightings are possible.
I kind of feel bad, I know she isn't 100% innocent but it happened a long time ago. I hope I never do anything dumb that is still making news over two decades later.

I didn't want to watch. I don't care for her, and her need of her 15min. I have no sympathy for her, and no desire to watch her whine.

I never though that nancy Kerrigan was as pure as she was portrayed to be. Nancy came from a good family so I do believe she's as nice as she seems. She did an interview at the last winter Olympics which was the first time she's talked about her attack and she was very polite and said very little. She was on Dancing with the Stars last season and again was the same nice, quiet person.

I never though that nancy Kerrigan was as pure as she was portrayed to be. Her purity is really irrelevant to what happened. They both could be less than nice people, but one was attacked. I was a figure skater way back in the day and appreciate Tonya's athletic ability. There is always going to be a debate over athletic vs graceful skating styles because the final judging is subjective but I don't think Tonya deserves the apology she is looking for here. ETA I didn't watch the show or have any interest in watching the movie.

We watched it. My opinion has always been, and still is, that the way Tonya was raised and always treated in every aspect of life is unfortunate. But I still think she knew about the attack before it happened, but just didn't know "when" it would happen.
I feel bad for her that her skating was never admired by the skating community as it should have been, because she's an amazing athlete. But she can always know how good she was, and her accomplishments on a world level. She should just hold on to those moments.
Tonya is a victim of poor parenting only. I hope she is as happy now as she says, and can just be herself. But she needs to stop trying to be in the light....
Nancy, no matter what anyone thinks of her is still the only victim for the attack.

I watched it...but didn't see the beginning. She (Tonya) is just not likable to me! She acts like her mother, IMHO. Sort of..."this is what I think and I don't give a crap if you like it, or you agree..." And the Brandy "FLAVOR"...uhhh, yeah...right. Whatever lady. She seemed so bitter.

The Talk has been discussing this topic quite a bit. They have showed clips were Nancy was caught on tape not being a very nice person. I remember back watching Nancy and Tonya skating and Nancy was artistic and Tonya was the technical skater. And back then the commentators said Tonya did not get the credit she deserved as a skater. It has also been stated that Nancy and her family thought they were better than most of the other skater's and she was not a nice person to the other girls. I don't think she deserved being hurt and should be apologized too. But there are 2 sides to every story.

Nancy and her family are so dysfunctional they stood by the brother and got him acquitted. Super fam. I find Tonya a disaster. Have followed skating all my life...yet Nancy seems anything but nice or sincere. Ashley Wagner is shaping up to be her clone. Yuck.

I don't think she deserved being hurt and should be apologized too. But there are 2 sides to every story. How did Eve get a slot on the show? I'm surprised they went makeup free. Nothing Nancy did made her deserve that attack. My friend is a preachers daughter and she truly is a nice person all around, doesn't gossip, is kind to everyone. She drives an old car that was stolen so when she got it back she had to take it to a repair shop to get fixed. She was telling us the story of how she wasn't nice when she called the repair shop. I had to giggle because whatever she thinks is not being nice I'm sure is a whole lot different than me not being nice. lol Ice-Skating isn't a team sport, they all live in different cities and just see each other at matches. So what Nancy didn't speak to others backstage? A few icy comments shouldn't forever label her the ice queen. At last week's national figure skating championships I was surprised to see Ashley Wagner hug another skater who scored above her. She was blasted in the media for saying she was "furious" at her scores. It was considered not nice. At the end of the day Nancy was the victim, doesn't matter if her personality isn't perfect, no one is. Everyone makes a remark here or there and it's a shame the Talk would show a clip of that. I found this article with some quotes from her and honestly nothing seems horrid, her sin was that her mic was on. I'm sure we all get frustrated waiting and think unkind thoughts. The thing is celebrities are sort of trained never to share their real opinions on things and be polite and friendly in interviews, so we always see celebs in this polite stand point. www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/sports/longterm/olympics1998/history/timeline/articles/time_030494.htmwww.youtube.com/watch?v=iFv_tPbTQ2swww.youtube.com/watch?v=9oozUaizleQ Sad but true. We've all forgotten about once famous names like Oksana Baiul and Kristi Yamaguchi.

There were rumors that she was dating her married coach, they eventually married. The attack was unwarranted.

Dh watched part of the interview and he just said she did play the victim. I do remember her mom being 'bat @%$## ' crazy. I don't think she was fully innocent in any of it. ETA-I always though Kerrigan was likeable so I'm not sure why some were saying that on twitter. That was part of it - she was charming and likeable and Harding was a little rough 'around the edges'. ?

So because she wasn't a "nice" person it was ok what happened to her?? Oh and Tonya's 15 mins of fame were over a long time ago. I have no desire to watch what was on last night nor the movie.

The problem lies in the media trying to turn victims into saints. Just because she was a victim of an attack doesn't mean the negative thoughts about her back then aren't true. Just because folks don't believe her good girl image doesn't mean they are trying to justify an attack.

I can’t decide what I think about Tonya, but I’m still fascinated by the story after all these years and I can’t wait to see “I, Tonya”. I recorded last night’s special and hope to watch it later.
Nancy didn’t have quite the same hard scrabble childhood that Tonya had, but she was from a working class background. I’m sure her family sacrificed a lot to finance her skating. She just did a better job of looking the part of the enviable ice queen. Then, after the attack, people (myself included) saw that she had a pretty lousy personality and turned on her. I feel for her now, looking back. And I can’t imagine what she must be thinking these days.

I’ve always loved watching ice skating. To my eye, a bunch of perfect jumps broken up by awkward skating between them is painful to watch. If I had my druthers, artistic would trump athletic in this particular sport.

I didn't watch and won't watch. I'm indifferent to Nancy Kerrigan, but what happened to her was criminal and Nancy's upbringing and personality has no bearing on this.

This is exactly what she would say about the two.
