You are in a very difficult position and I sympathize with you.
I was the one who drove my dad to the hospital (for the last time). He asked me so many questions while I was driving him. Probably because mom wasn't in the car with us. A difficult conversation. A few days before he died, my dad told me that he was so grateful that I was a straight shooter with the information about his illness (Cancer of colon & kidney). Take the time to write down the memories and the other stories. Record them if possible.
Dad died prior to much of the technology available and we found one cassette tape with his voice on it.

Been there. My mom was only 52 when an entire archipelago of metastatic islands were found on her liver scan. It looked like a map of Hawaii. Humor helped. And I can’t stress enough how important open communication will be. Your mom may try to hide her fear, and anger from you to “protect” you. You kids might try to pretend it’s not as serious as it is to “protect” her. Don’t. It’s hard to talk about all thus, but I promise it really helps.
I am so very sorry. My BFF’s mom passed away last fall after being diagnosed in April with cancer that originated in the liver and had already metastasized. It was so sad. Cancer is awful. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
I am very sorry about your mother's diagnosis. I think you are entitled to feel those emotions and express as needed. I hope you will come here to share and we can provide some relief. Again,I am so sorry.
Thank you all for including me in your kind thoughts and prayers and for the information about possible testing and therapies. Tammie, I am so sorry you got additional bad news about your dad. Hugs to you and to all here who are struggling.
I am so sorry to hear this about your dad. I understand your feelings completely. My dad passed away from cancer and 6 years later my mom passed away from Alzheimer's. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as you navigate this heartbreaking journey.
