I swear this is the very worst chore EVER. I looking for jeans. I keep trying them on. Sizes are inconsistent-really how is one a 6 somewhere and 12 somewhere else?? Skinny? fine-they fit everywhere but the waist which is big enough that you know you be hauling up every 30 seconds. Too much stretchy material, they will get baggy by the end of the day. Or total mom jeans. Or saggy in the butt. Or... My gosh this is a total chore. Just bitching...and wishing the jean fairy would point me in the direction of the perfect jeans.

^^^ that is one reason why I shop at Kohls, because I know they for-sure sell the brand that fit me properly without having to try on 10+ pairs, get annoyed with the whole process, and then go home to eat potato chips. lol!

Do you have 1 pair that you like? If so, go back to that brand. (That is my method)

I found one brand and size that I like, and I have multiple pairs in various washes, with and without "destruction." Problem solved.

The tailor is your best friend. I buy jeans that fit everywhere perfectly except the waist (because of how I'm shaped) and then I have the waist taken in

I worked ladies retail and we were a specialty store and everyone in this demographic came to us for jeans until the owners lost the account with the company. I had oodles of very frustrated women coming in every single day. It does suck!!!

Oh man, I feel for you. This is the reason I only wear Eddie Bauer jeans now. I know the style and size that fits me perfectly. I have several pairs, six or seven, in varying shades of dark indigo to faded.
I was wearing NYDJ for a while, and I still have one pair of black, but the newest ones I bought were so stretchy they fell off after one days wear.
About a year ago I was ready to drop some $$$ on a fashionable high-end pair of jeans. All the salespeople in different stores told me they couldn't help me because I did not want rips or tears, streaky fading, dirty material, minimal stretch, etc. So back to EB it was.

Have you tried a subscription box? I do mainly because I don't want to deal with stores and can try them on at home. They have my sizes and put outfits together for me and some of my best jeans have come from them. This is a referral link to the box I've been getting for the last 6 months. If you don't love things, just send them back and there is no styling fee. I like that the clothes are stylish and the stylists actually listen to what I say. This is a referral link, I think I get a 20% off coupon if you sign up and buy something. TrendSend

Jeans suck. I'm not overly tall, but I'm 5'8" with a 33" inseam. So they're hard to find. I'm a size 14, which I'm well aware is still a bigger size, but on my frame it's not what I consider "plus size", but it seems like most size 14 I find are more of a plus size cut, which don't work. Or, they're too short. Too short I can work with in the summer, early fall, but not in the winter when I can't wear them cropped. I have a pair of Silver jeans from a tall store, but they're constantly out of stock. I also have a pair of black NYDJ I love, but can't find that pair in just a regular jean.
One of my to-do list items this weekend is to find 1 more pair of jeans that work. Wish me luck.

My favorite jeans? Eddie Bauer - from the Eddie Bauer store. Cute, stylish (surprisingly), fit great. On a lark, I went in there looking for jeans and walked out with the same pair in 3 different washes. Not inexpensive, but when you find something that works, it's worth it.

I find that bra shopping is a stupid thing to shop for.
I like a good fit and this usually means $$.

I agree! I only have a couple pair of jeans because I can't find any that fit well and look decent. I need a personal shopper because I hardly ever buy clothes for myself because I have no idea what looks good. Once I had kids, I mostly just bought clothes for them and I am so out of practice. I was the one who went to the mall every weekend in high school and college and was so into clothes!
I am very frugal, but even I would pay a decent amount for jeans that fit well and looked good and were comfortable!

Silver are my favorite jeans, I really like the girlfriend jeans. Miss Me & Rock Revival fit really well too, but I can have a hard time finding ones with pockets that I like. I don't want giant blinged fleur-de-lis on my butt. I have found that there really is something to be said for good quality jeans. They fit better and last longer. They feel good & are comfortable too. If you have a Buckle near you, their employees are really helpful for finding a pair of jeans that fit well.

Order them from my couch-VW petite skinnies. I just took a chance once night and ordered a pair because I knew if they didn't fit I could return to the store. They were perfect and so is every other pair that I've ordered.

For right now I refuse to spend money on jeans I'm going to look dumpy in because I am too plump. Oddly, that makes Old Navy Rockstar skinny jeans my best choice because my butt isn't really the problem, it's this mom pouch I'm sporting.
They're stretchy and available in short length and they fit my butt and look good with Converse, boots, or flats. And they're super cheap so I can have them in a variety of colors.
My "fighting weight" jeans are all Silver jeans. I hate shopping for pants.

Scootch over and make room on that bench for me, anxiousmom! I hate shopping for any kind of pants with a passion. I don’t know if it’s just me, but it seems like I will find a style and size that fit just right in a regular blue, and then when I go to buy another pair of the EXACT same brand, size and style but in a darker wash or black they are TOO FREAKING SMALL! I’ve ended up having to buy the next size up which of course doesn’t fit the same. Drives me absolutely nuts. I have resigned myself to the fact that I absolutely have to try on any pants or jeans in every color I want at the store or inevitably I end up bringing some back.

I can cope with shopping for jeans.....fine a style/brand/size that fits.....then buy them in any color they have, multiples if need be.
Now BRAS is my sad shopping issue.....

I hate jeans shopping too. The only brand in stores that fit me correctly without having to go to in for tailoring on the waist are Lee jeans. They do actually carry some that aren't "mom" jeans now. I can wear them 2-3 times before needing to wash them and they have a few different washes. The only other place I have gotten jeans that fit, is in my Stitch Fix subscription. Have you tried them? You can request an all denim fix (so 5 pair) and they will send you different brands and the styles you request. If you have a friend that does stitch fix you can ask for her referral code and get your first fix for free. No 20.00 styling fee. If you don't know anyone that does it, PM me and I can give you my code. You can't beat a free fix. Plus the shipping to you and back to them is free too. I've gotten jeans from the 38.00 to 98.00 price range. I can try them on at home and have 3 days to decided whether to keep them or not. I have a couple pairs I really really love. Good luck! I know exactly how you feel!

Same.
I've got 2 favourite pairs of jeans in different makes/styles that are wearing out, but they've discontinued both. I'm a UK 10 with (gasp!) a waist. So anything that fits my legs has about 4" of fabric flapping around my waist. I've come home from jeans shopping in tears before.
What I can't understand is that most people I talk to have the same problem. So who is buying these "one size fits nobody" monstrosities?

My problem is that I had some that were the go-to-fit, size, etc. Then I lost a bunch of weight and am having to go through the search again. I have gone down something like 5 sizes and now i can't just grab and go because I don't really know what size I am when jean sizing is all over the map. I am afraid to buy on line because of the size discrepancies. I just bought some cheap skinny jeans I found at Belk's the other day and they look...okay. Or at least mostly. Too big in the waist, but everywhere else okay. Well, they did until the end of the day when the 'stretch' feature kicked in and I looked like I was wearing a potato sack.

Now THAT is the 7th circle of hell.
