Then I lost a bunch of weight and am having to go through the search again. I have gone down something like 5 sizes and now i can't just grab and go because I don't really know what size I am when jean sizing is all over the map. Congratulations at going down 5 sizes! I really need to lose a couple too.

I'll see your shopping for jeans... and raise you shopping for bathing suits. Now THAT is the 7th circle of hell. Oh, so true. It is a hateful chore too, isn't it? Especially if you’re shopping for one in the winter and you live where it gets cold half the year. Nobody, and I do mean NObody looks good under fluorescent try-on room lighting when you’re pasty winter pale. Ugh. I don’t tan and I’m pale even in the summer, but winter skin is another thing entirely. If you can imagine a freezer burned corpse, that’s what my legs look like in the winter!

I went down sizes as well and jeans are a STRUGGLE. My weight is dispersed throughout my body, but I do not have a stomach. I have big calves, so if I get something that fits my calves, it's giant on my waist. Stretch jeans are not my friend. I need the real thing. Gap seems to work well for me. I haven't tried the super expensive jeans yet. That's my treat when I'm down to my goal weight. Not much longer, I hope.

I have resigned myself to the fact that I absolutely have to try on any pants or jeans in every color I want at the store One thing I've noticed about clothing, even the same brand / style of clothing, is that sometimes I think WHERE the clothing is made makes a difference on how it fits. If one color / pattern of tee-shirt (or jeans, whatever) were made in Vietnam, and a different color / pattern was made in Bangladesh, then they may not fit exactly the same. So in addition to looking at the style, I also look at the tag to see where it came from. (but I typically have to try EVERY piece of clothing on, just to be safe...)

I don't know why, but I've never thought to look on the same brand and style of something, but it would make sense! I hate when I have a pair of jeans I like and then get them in black and they fit totally different. I seriously hate trying clothes on at stores, even though it is handy having multiple mirrors. I am not always good about actually getting back to stores to return things though, so I've gotten better about forcing myself to do it. I have a pair of jeans that I bought on Macy's website that need to be exchanged right now. I looked at a couple different styles, but somehow ordered the ones I didn't want. That's what I get for adding things to my cart to remember them. I then delete the wrong thing!

I solved the problem of having to go to multiple stores to try on jeans and not being able to compare the ones I liked. My local Goodwill has a huge selection of jeans, so yeah, I might have to take 20 pair to try on, but they might be 20 different brands, and a few different sizes.
On a whim, I recently tried on a pair of skinny jeans from Ann Taylor Loft. They actually look good on my short, round self! Now, I havr a pair to wear and can watch to see when they go on sale online.

I don’t get it why the blue ones fit so much different than the dark indigo or black ones when it’s the same style, same size, same brand. Grrr.

The tailor is your best friend. I buy jeans that fit everywhere perfectly except the waist (because of how I'm shaped) and then I have the waist taken in Is it done in a way that isn’t noticeable? I need this done but if it’s going to look like I did it myself, I’ll just keep pulling them up every 10 minutes!

Bathing suits (ginormously blessed on top with smaller, not tiny bottom) 2. Jeans (athletic lol thighs) 3. Bras (thank you Nordstrom for making it not QUITE so horrific, just pricey)

Last year I bought jeans at Target. Size 10 with tags in French fit, size 10 with tags in Spanish were WAY too small! Couldn’t even button them!

3. Bras (thank you Nordstrom for making it not QUITE so horrific, just pricey) I completely agree. The Nordstrom bra fitting experience was like the heavens opening and the angels singing. I don't care what they charge for their bras. It's worth it to not have side boob and back fat.

I wear Levi's. I last bought jeans maybe 7-10 years ago. Now I cannot find jeans (even Levi's) that don't have stretchy spandex in them. I want nice thick cotton denim. Jeans with spandex end up falling off me after wearing them. would have thought the spandex would make them contract back, but no such luck for me.

I can wear them a few times before they need to be washed and they're still snug and not saggy. They've got a decent amount of spandex too!

That’s why I like places like Lands End that sell their suits by the piece so you can get different sizes for the top and the bottom. They cost more but a swimsuit is the kind of thing where I will pay more to get something that fits well everywhere. I also like that they sell swim shorts and skirted bottoms too.

I have to buy separate pieces because my top is bigger than my bottom. I'm boring- I buy a few pairs of black high-waisted bottoms and fitted tankini strapless tops with some color. I can't stand those floppy tops. Last summer I found a beautiful reddish coral one-piece at Belk. It fit perfectly except I had room for about 5 more hoo-hahs. I don't know why it was so roomy down there...

My sister and I both have waists taken in on almost every pair of pants we own and you can't tell at all. I also have pants hemmed often because I am not quite petite, so actual petite pants are too short but average/regular are too long. My philosophy is to either spend big $$$ on pants/jeans I love and the $15 to take the in the waist is part of the investment, or I buy pants/jeans on sale (or at the resale) shop and the $15 to take in the waist still puts me a lot cheaper than a brand new pair. Depends on what I need the pants for, if they are trendy and may go out of style vs. a classic, hold on to it forever pair.

I find that bra shopping is a stupid thing to shop for. I like a good fit and this usually means $$. This is what i was thinking too. I am far from large chested but dang trying to find something that doesn't feel like it has personal flotation devices built in to the cups. Or the way they are cut. It is a pain in the butt! Don't even get me started on the $$$ spent on a little bit of fabric and elastic

Slightly different fabric content. The same fabrics don't always hold different colors well so they have to change the fabric content to get the color to hold. I sew myself, so I could understand that using different fabrics would change how the garment feels (denim vs. twill, 100% cotton vs. a Lycra blend, etc.), but it shouldn’t result in the darker colors being a totally different size if they’re made from the same pattern. Like a whole size smaller! Changing the content of the fabric shouldn’t affect the size that much unless the darker ones are dyed AFTER being sewn and the fabric shrinks in that process, but then the topstitching would be dyed too. At first I thought it was a fluke, but it’s happened several times and with different brands too. I could understand it if it was a little different, but a whole size just due to different fabric content? I notice it right away in the store, before I’ve even bought them. Weird.

Jeans suck. I'm not overly tall, but I'm 5'8" with a 33" inseam. So they're hard to find. I'm a size 14, which I'm well aware is still a bigger size, but on my frame it's not what I consider "plus size", but it seems like most size 14 I find are more of a plus size cut, which don't work. Or, they're too short. Too short I can work with in the summer, early fall, but not in the winter when I can't wear them cropped. I have a pair of Silver jeans from a tall store, but they're constantly out of stock. I also have a pair of black NYDJ I love, but can't find that pair in just a regular jean. One of my to-do list items this weekend is to find 1 more pair of jeans that work. Wish me luck. I'm 5'10" and this is my life. Preaching to the choir

My favorite jeans I found at Sam's Club of all places! The fit is great and just the right amount of stretch. The brand is Bandolino.

Oh man, I feel for you. This is the reason I only wear Eddie Bauer jeans now. I know the style and size that fits me perfectly. I have several pairs, six or seven, in varying shades of dark indigo to faded. I was wearing NYDJ for a while, and I still have one pair of black, but the newest ones I bought were so stretchy they fell off after one days wear. About a year ago I was ready to drop some $$$ on a fashionable high-end pair of jeans. All the salespeople in different stores told me they couldn't help me because I did not want rips or tears, streaky fading, dirty material, minimal stretch, etc. So back to EB it was. I work there but wanted to say I love their jeans but wasn’t sure if there was a bias there 😏 I would hope that if I was just a customer there that I would still think their jeans were very comfy

Why, who knows, because the pattern they're using should be the same-- but I've noticed it multiple times.
