Trump’s response to Hawaii missile snafu proves he can’t be trusted with more nukes: New York TimesTOM BOGGIONI 14 JAN 2018 AT 13:12 ET In a cautionary editorial published after the citizens of Hawaii were thrown into a panic over a mistaken alert announcing missiles were incoming, the New York Times said the President blithe response was a reason to not entrust him with an expanded nuclear arsenal. Following the frightening announcement in Hawaii on Saturday morning, the president was reportedly advised about what was going on, but chose to continue to play golf instead of, at the very least, attempting to quell the panic by using his heavily followed Twitter account to dispute the warning. In fact, long after the warning had been debunked, the only statement issued by the White House stated: “The President has been briefed on the state of Hawaii’s emergency management exercise. This was purely a state exercise.” Three hours after the alert, the president finally tweeted: “So much Fake News is being reported. They don’t even try to get it right, or correct it when they are wrong. They promote the Fake Book of a mentally deranged author, who knowingly writes false information. The Mainstream Media is crazed that WE won the election!” with no mention of Hawaii. The Times called the president out for it. www.rawstory.com/2018/01/trumps-response-to-hawaii-missile-snafu-proves-he-cant-be-trusted-with-more-nukes-new-york-times/How much he cares..........

Of late I am hearing more and more (desperate?) statements that basically, to be patriotic, we should support our president. I find that total BS, to be blunt.
And this keeps coming back to my mind because who could say it better?
Mark Twain’s definition of patriotism is this: “Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.”

“President Trump is having dinner with House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy at his golf club in West Palm Beach this evening”
Why is a CA Congressman having dinner with trump in Florida when both will be in DC this week? They couldn’t have dinner in DC at the White House? Talk about a waste of tax payer money.

Robert Goodlatte, a Republican from Virginia, have not made public comments.www.cnn.com/2018/01/13/politics/trump-remark-reaction/index.htmlGuess we know why he is having dinner with dt in Florida!

OMG MOMENT! Trump: 'I love' that Hawaii officials took responsibility for false missile alertBY JACQUELINE THOMSEN - 01/14/18 09:16 PM EST President Trump made his first public comments since the false alarm of a ballistic missile heading toward Hawaii, saying he thought it was “terrific” that the state took responsibility for the error. “That was a state thing but we are going to now get involved with them. I love that they took responsibility. They took total responsibility,” Trump told reporters Sunday.
“But we are going to get involved. Their attitude and their — I think it is terrific. They took responsibility. They made a mistake,” he continued. When asked what he will do to prevent a similar false alert from taking place, Trump didn’t answer directly but said, “we hope it won’t happen again. “Part of it is people are on edge, but maybe eventually we will solve the problem so they won’t have to be so on edge,” Trump said. He added that he will “see what happens with North Korea.” thehill.com/homenews/administration/369002-trump-i-love-that-hawaii-officials-took-responsibility-for-falseWE will get involved NOW because Hawaii took responsibility?!?!?!?!?! And when will he ever take responsibility for his actions!!!

Why hasn’t he put out any comment on what happened in Hawaii yesterday? Same reason there are still over 80,000 people in Puerto Rico without water or power. He doesn't give a shit. He can't get anything from them. There is your answer right there.

The Hill...
“President Trump on Sunday pushed back on claims that he is a racist after facing immense scrutiny for reportedly describing several nations as "shithole countries" during a meeting with lawmakers last week.
"No. I'm not a racist. I'm the least racist person you will ever interview," Trump told reporters while entering Trump International Golf Course, according to a White House pool report.
The president also reportedly doubled down on his denial that he never said the disparaging remark during the Oval Office meeting.
"Did you see what various senators in the room said about my comments? They were not made," Trump said.”
Unbelievable!

We are going to have to come to grips w/the unfairness of the way our representatives are apportioned. This is one of my big issues. And even in the House, which is supposed to be apportioned in line with population, rural states/areas have far fewer people per representative than dense, urban areas. Add to that the fact that state legislatures can gerrymander US congressional districts to suit their own preferences, and we city dwellers are well and truly screwed. Those of us living in areas that provide most of this nation's wealth and power, not to mention our diversity, are being ruled by a rural, white minority. To say it another way: the wealthy elite have fulfilled their scheme of plutocracy by using social wedge issues to drive the rural and suburban white middle class into their fold. They're taking advantage of our antiquated and undemocratic apportionment laws to help them do this.

President Obama’s tweet today...
“Dr. King was 26 when the Montgomery bus boycott began. He started small, rallying others who believed their efforts mattered, pressing on through challenges and doubts to change our world for the better. A permanent inspiration for the rest of us to keep pushing towards justice.”
trump’s tweets today so far...
“Statement by me last night in Florida: “Honestly, I don’t think the Democrats want to make a deal. They talk about DACA, but they don’t want to help..We are ready, willing and able to make a deal but they don’t want to. They don’t want security at the border, they don’t want.....”
“...to stop drugs, they want to take money away from our military which we cannot do.” My standard is very simple, AMERICA FIRST & MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
trump really does lie a lot doesn’t he.
Elections nave consequences. 61 M registered American voters can no longer sit on the sidelines and not vote regardless of their reasons.

All the shit that's going down and Trump is still on the golf course. Who was that weird orange guy who was always bitching about Obama playing golf.... This on Twitter: There's a few photos of the Obama family doing community service LINK
What's he been in office just on 1 year, and has been on the golf course 95 times? What a total hypocrite. He doesn't even seem to care that people are watching for things like this and keeping a tally, then he'll just claim it's all fake news.

linkNew York Times Opinion piece Donald Trump’s Racism: The Definitive List
From the article.. “Donald Trump has been obsessed with race for the entire time he has been a public figure. He had a history of making racist comments as a New York real-estate developer in the 1970s and ‘80s. More recently, his political rise was built on promulgating the lie that the nation’s first black president was born in Kenya. He then launched his campaign with a speech describing Mexicans as rapists. The media often falls back on euphemisms when describing Trump’s comments about race: racially loaded, racially charged, racially tinged, racially sensitive. And Trump himself has claimed that he is “the least racist person.” But here’s the truth: Donald Trump is a racist. He talks about and treats people differently based on their race. He has done so for years, and he is still doing so. Here, we have attempted to compile a definitive list of his racist comments – or at least the publicly known ones.” The article goes on with a list of trump’s racist behavior. A lot of what was discussed on this board prior to the election and a lot that was dismissed as irrelevant compared to Hillary’s emails etc. Or that some of us were seeing things in trump’s words that weren’t there.

So apparently the most prominent person they can get on Fox to defend Trump today is Chuck Woolery. You read that right. The game show host. How very fitting that a reality TV star president draws the admiration of intellectual heavyweights like Chuck Woolery, and how very Fox that they're so desperate to find someone to say something positive that they make this front page news on their website. It is funny, but she is getting major heat for using her official Twitter account!
Also:
"Others on Twitter expressed concern that Sanders has the Echo in her home, warning it could be compromised and used to listen to her conversations."

Citizens for Ethics....
“Everything Ryan Zinke says to justify Florida’s exemption to offshore drilling applies to every other coastal state. Except Florida has Mar-a-Lago on the coast.”
The politicians representing New Jersey wrote a letter to Zinke making their case why they didn’t want oil drilling off their coast. In the letter was one very valid point. They didn’t want drilling along the Eastern Coasts because if there is an oil spill anywhere along the coast the waves and tides could spread the oil up and down the coast. They are correct. Same applies to the West Coast.
