How many different herbs and spices do you keep on hand? I have a lot. Far too much for what I end up actually using.
How do you store or organize yours. I have them hung on my kitchen cabinet in square tins with clear tops that are attached with velcro. The look is started to bug me (although everyone who sees it thinks it's "cool") and I worry about the exposure to light. I have no real countertop room. Looking for ideas.

I have way too many spices. I cook with a lot of spices. Organizing them is almost a lost cause I fear. I keep my most used spices in masala dabbas. I love them because I keep my "collections" in them and I usually only have to grab one thing. I have an Indian spice one (cumin, garam masala, ginger, cardamom, chili, tumeric, coriander, fenugreek) and a more Italian/North American spice one (basil, oregano, red pepper, rosemary, thyme, garlic, etc). I have been meaning to get another for Tex-Mex / Mexican spices just so my chili powders and such are all together. Then I have two other Tupperware containers for the over flow. It takes up a small cabinet. I just use too many spices for most streamline solutions I see. Sorry, my phone is wonky and I can't get the picture to post. I use these: goo.gl/images/ajWFD8

I have a ton as well, but do use them all for the most part. Right now, I have the single spices in a draw laying flat so I can see the labels easily. Any spice blends are in a small cupboard that has three shelves.

I had some narrow shelves built into the end of my island. I keep the spices in some small jars with white lids I've found at different stores - most recently I think at Bed Bath and Beyond. The original ones came labeled but I've added quite a few spices so I've printed additional labels. I keep them alphabetical or I try to. There is an area of my pantry with some extras and larger containers of commonly used things like chili powder.

Mine are lying flat in a drawer. Most are in an utensil/drawer organizer, the excess just in the empty spaces around the organizer. I have about 30 spices.

I keep mine in the original containers for the most part. Those go onto a lazy Susan that fits in my cupboard. I put the short jars on the top and the taller jars on the bottom. For blends that I make myself (taco, fry, pumpkin pie...) I have some small jars that I found at Wegman's. I keep those next to the lazy Susan on the other side of the cupboard. I have one of these Spicy Shelf that I have on that size, which helps so that I can find things. Then I have a bin where I keep store bought spice packs (onion soup mix, Kerr vegetable mix for spinach dip) and packets from spices I bought when traveling overseas--the entire packet didn't fit into my jars.

I use these World Market magnetic spice containers (though mine are in turquoise and lime - had them for several years) and they hang on the side of my refrigerator. Since the tops are the parts that show, I label them with a chalk pen.

I have spice holders built into my cabinets. I organize by these three categories; seasoning meat, savory spices and sweet/baking spices. It works for me, pretty much.

I also have the Spicy Shelf, and I LOVE it. Everybody in alphabetical order, and it is so easy to go down the rows and see what I am low on when it is time to make a Penzey's order. Then in the open area in front of the Spicy Shelf, I have some over sized items, jar of molasses, box of kosher salt, etc. My husband was very skeptical when I told him I wanted Spicy Shelf for Christmas, he thought it would be a piece of junk, but it has been wonderful! Highly recommended.

I have a large walk in pantry. On the left wall as I walk in the pantry I have one of those closetmaid door racks attached to the wall. I have most of my spices on that rack in alphabetical order. I keep my bags of penny spices in a Rubbermaid bin on a shelf across from the spice rack. We use lots of spices.

I use a similar tiered organizer. My spices are in their original containers (several different sizes and shapes) and in alphabetical order.

Mine aren’t very well organized but it seems to work for the most part. Dh is the organizer in our family. I’m surprised there aren’t any pictures posted. Here’s my shelf.

Mine are in their original containers/packets. I had a skinny shelf added to my pantry which is where I keep all the spices/herbs/food colorings etc - works for me.
However, I always write on the packets in black sharpie the date I open the packet - and go through the shelf once a year in January

I have a built-in spice shelf in my kitchen - mine are in their original containers and loosely organised with baking spices on the top shelf and cooking herbs on the bottom shelf - it works for me

I put them in the small jars from Penzy’s (clear jars, black lids). Then I alphabetized them on a Rubbermaid double-lazy Susan. I label each one with the spice name and date purchased (just month/year). I like these jars because they happen to fit the lazy Susan perfectly...height and width. This is kind of nitpicky...but I like that each section is 4 jars wide, and nothing is hidden by the vertical bars on the bottom row. I have about 50 spices. Every January I go through and toss/replace any that are 2 years old. I’m thankful to have a grocery store with very inexpensive bulk spices. ETA a photo:

I have and use a LOT. They are all standing in 2 drawers. I buy from Penzy's or the Spice House and put into glass jars I bought at Specialty glass. I used my Silhouette to make labels for them and they are in alphabetical order.

I have a completely disorganized mess. We have spices on both sides and I know where to find whatever but it is still a mess.
The stuff that comes in bottles is on the right and the stuff in bags is on the left. I don’t plan to fix it as we all seem to manage just fine.
One thing I am learning to do is season my son’s food. He likes spicy and flavourful food now and I am not sure what to add. I think I need to get some lemons in the house and start adding that more often. I use lemon pepper to season his fish but I suspect it isn’t enough. I am open to suggestions. I think it will make my dad happier too. Will have to see.

You asked, so I counted! I have 48 in their original McCormick bottles. And several more mixes and rubs, etc. I keep them in a rack like this on my pantry door. Top is baking like vanillas and nutmegs and cinnamon. Below that are baking powder, soda, yeast, knox, extracts. 4 racks of various spices, then one of vinegars and oils.
