Like a previous Amy Tan collection, the release photo shows a group of bright papers with random motifs. It looks like an ad promoting the clearance aisle at Dollar Tree!

It has a Bella Blvd look, but more cartoon-ish.

I love it, but its definitely rehashed themes. I just *wish* i had a reason to buy it. That scottie dog paper is adorable!

When she designs many of her pages, she doesn't use much of one paper. Her backgrounds are more often plain and then pp is used in limited amounts (in general). I can see how these bright colors would work well with her design style though. Every single page has pink. So many more colors out there.

I love it. Again, I'm in the minority here, but I just love the bright colors and motifs. I'm an art teacher, though, so this line is pretty much up my alley. I scrapbook my cats, my dog, my vacations, flowers, art, my boyfriend, and my nephews. I can use a lot of it with these topics.
I love Shimelle and I love Amy Tangerine's stuff, too, though. You have to use it in moderation but it is so fun. Evidently I'm a teenager because I just scrapbooked a page with Hustle and Heart and I went back and ordered more of it because I was afraid of running out.
I can't wait to get my hands on the thickers and the paper with the art supplies on it.
So the new animal is: toucans! Who called it?

I feel like the mash-ups of paper that AC puts up in their blog posts don't do these lines justice. That's no knock on you, Chinagirl828 - it's all AC. They make the line look like a hodgepodge instead of something that would go so well with the simple papers everyone already has. Like the example at the top of their blog has Shimelle's kid on that cloud-and-dot paper and it looks cute, but you'd never get that impression from their "throw everything on a table at weird angles" promo shot. Cute stuff in there for summer, I think. I like some of the B-sides and the phrase stamp. But I kinda like Simple Stories crafter-themed line this year a bit better. This does look better for scrapping kids, though. You are so completely right! The promo shot is a disaster. It was really not appealing to me based on those shots, but my opinion has shifted a bit. I watched her video and I have to say that while the feel of the collection is very over-the-top crazy cute there are a lot of really lovely b-sides, stripes and other basic prints. I think I will definitely be picking up some of the papers. I am currently reserving judgement on the embellishments. SaveSave

Who had toucans, scottie dogs, cats wearing glasses, and strawberries in random icon bingo? lol. I liked the look of some of it when I watched Shimelle show it off. The colors looked better than they do in the image above. Some fun rainbow shades. But it's hard to tell. Very bright, just like those other AC lines I looked at last week.

I love Shimelle, but sadly this collection (and the last one) really missed the mark for me. I am hopeful that there are some basics in here (b-sides) that might be useable, but the majority of it seems a bit random. It makes me long for the days of Christmas Magic and Go Now Go. Both of those collections were very usable for me, and even some of her other early collections, but I haven't found much use for the more recent ones. I could have written this word for word - the only two of her lines I've purchased a lot of are the two you referenced and a little bit of 'True Stories'. I love her so much as a YT'er as a voice of quiet and reason and reflection in the 'hey, look at me' world of instagram louder-than-lifers. But I don't love this one, nor the last one. I wonder if it's really her aesthetic or her aesthetic run through the mill that is AC, so that it comes out looking like so much other AC stuff.

This is why I wish I had a real LSS. Sometimes it's really hard to tell about papers buying online. I would guess I might like some of them, especially the B sides in real life.

I love this collection. I was a little hesitant when seeing the promo shot. However, after seeing her video and more pieces, I want even more of the collection. The Thickers - the letters and the navy(!!) words sing my name. I love the idea of the 6x8 pad. Instead of purchasing the project pad, I think I’ll be getting individual sheets. I don’t see me using as many a-sides but the b-sides are gorgeous. I’ll pick up the 6x6 pad because the smaller size works better for me in those bold prints. This is the first home run collection of the season for me.
The only thing that has me puzzled is the mix of white, off-white, and cream papers. I have a terrible time mixing those and making it look right most of the time.

Two things I will definitely buy are the 6x8 paper pad and the navy stickers. There are about 8 single sheets that I will buy as well (mostly because of the B side). I love her stuff and go now go was a favourite collection of mine but this one is just too bright for how I scrap and a little too random. Maybe because my kids are a bit older too??

I love her so much as a YT'er as a voice of quiet and reason and reflection in the 'hey, look at me' world of instagram louder-than-lifers. I love this about her too! I have papers from her Everyday collection, which, like this collection, are also loud and tropical. But I'm using them to scrap a Florida trip, so they work. (ETA, nevermind, it isn't a Shimelle line, LOL ) Most of my life isn't loud and tropical though, nor are my photos. I need quiet papers too.

Oh no. Just no. I have that camera paper from other collections. If it is a favorite I guess I can see why she included it. The rainbows? Ugh.
I also am not a fan of the way she has her patterns in rows. It makes it harder to use.

I've always wanted to like her products but I really struggle to. They are just really difficult and too random for me to use on my pages. This is my feeling too. The colors she typically uses are also a little off for what I need, they’re just not quite right. I normally love bright colors but these are just kind of meh. I can’t really explain it but they just don’t work.

Ok, I just watched her insanely too long video on her site (well, I skipped the paper pad parts) and I really, really, like many of the papers. There is so much navy and so many versatile yet colorful papers. I won’t be able to use most of the cartoony sides shown in the op, but the b sides are really great. The pictures on the ac blog really do the line no favors. I wonder why they don’t show more pics?

My initial reaction was nope, but after watching her video that showed the papers with the b sides, there isn’t really any sheet I couldn’t use. I wouldn’t use the icons either.

"BOX OF CRAYONS" is a perfect name! It looks like she gave her son/daughter a box of crayons and let him go...

I appreciate immensely her talent but I had 2 thoughts on this: a) we are not all scrapping pictures of a preschooler and b) this looks like the paper crafting version of WHAT NOT TO WEAR. I wish her well...but "c'mon man"!

I feel like she's stepping on Amy Tan's toes with the toucans. I'll have to check out her Instagram story to see the b-sides. The border paper has a great red & white polka dot paper that I would love as a full sheet. Given what we, the collective GS Refupeas know about the industry, and that both AT and S are under AC, perhaps it is the same nameless professional AC employee who has "designed" for AT and for S, hence the toucans? Didn't we discuss this a short while ago that the named designer only gets to influence a few points of the collection?

LOVE IT. Especially excited about the embellishments! I don’t ever use an entire collection together...these pieces would be great accents.

I love Shimelle, and I desperately want to support her, but I'm having a hard time working out how I could make this collection work. Maybe one or two sheets, but I'd have to put them with other things. I really dislike that childish font. My time, money and space for scrapbooking is really limited at the moment. I don't want something that makes me work so hard.

I love Shimelle but was real disappointed when she posted this on FB. I think it's her worst collection yet. To not be completely negative, I do like the camera paper and the paper with the letters on it...and some of the cut apart. The majority of the release though, just isn't for me.

I have that camera paper from other collections. If it is a favorite I guess I can see why she included it. She has mentioned in her videos that she does a camera print for every collection. I don't personally love them, but she finds them very useful, so I guess maybe other people do too. At least the camera is an icon that always makes sense in the context of scrapbooking. Didn't we discuss this a short while ago that the named designer only gets to influence a few points of the collection? I think we'd all be interested to see what really goes into making these collections. I think the designers are given a lot of limitations. Given the similar loud feel of AT and Shimelle's collections I would assume that AC has required that - maybe given them a color palette to pick from. I know Shimelle has talked a bit about what she wants in her collections (but doesn't necessarily get) and how she tries to push them to include some crazy/bonkers things, but usually only gets one idea approved. So at least she's trying to stretch them into trying new ideas. The pictures on the ac blog really do the line no favors. I wonder why they don’t show more pics? Right?! More pictures! I guess AC thinks that garish bright chaos is what's selling right now. Or they don't really care what goes on their blog because they know their designers will sell their lines better than they could? I wonder if the designers get more say in the B-sides. It's funny to me that so many people are saying they'd barely touch the A-sides (which by definition are supposed to be the selling point/the stars of the show). Either AC knows something about shoppers we don't (after all, they don't care if we USE the paper, only that someone BUYS the paper, and maybe this stuff really does sell) or they're idiots. If the A-sides are all too much then the 6x6 pad stops being something I want to buy, since it's pretty much all crazy A-sides. I use this stuff for cardmaking, so I like the smaller scale prints, and I don't need so much paper. But lately I'm realizing, if I want any of the calm neutral stuff from the B-sides, I have to buy a bunch of 12" papers in addition to the 6x6 pad, but then I worry that they are not scaled right... which leads me to skip buying anything at all.

Shimelle posted a video on Facebook of the collections to show a bit more detail. When I first saw it, I thought there’s no way I could use it. But I remember thinking he same thing about the Glitter Girl collection. But once I saw her use it in Friday Live, etc, I started thinking of ways I could use it. The bottom line is I like that Shimelle provides free videos and so I try to support her as much as I can. Which means I buy any paper and embellishments that I can possibly use. I want her to continue to provide free process videos and such. I also try to take the online classes she offers that I think I will find useful.

I wonder if the designers get more say in the B-sides. It's funny to me that so many people are saying they'd barely touch the A-sides (which by definition are supposed to be the selling point/the stars of the show). What I find interesting about this is having watched Shimelle use the products regularly in her videos she tends to use the b sides more often than not. If I think of all the bold designs in Glitter Girl I can really only recall her using the unicorns once (when she was asked to show how to use them), and I don't remember her using most of the other iconography. Obviously I may have missed videos where she's shared her use of these papers, or the pages she doesn't share may be full of those designs, but I find it very telling that even she is not prominently using them. I also try to take the online classes she offers that I think I will find useful. This is definitely me. I feel I've learned a lot from her and I like that she still actively scrapbooks unlike some of the other AC designers. If I can find one or two pieces in her collection that I like and feel will fit my style then I'll happily purchase them. I just wish I didn't have to look so hard to find those pieces.

Saw the unboxing paper video she made (not the instagram stories, I don't have or know how to get onto that), and I'm going to say I LOVED how she compared the papers in the pad with the loose ones--both the colors and weight. Just so honest and the kind of thing we can't figure out ourselves without a LSS. Props to her for showing the practical and being straightforward (vs. straight promotional.) I love that info to make buying choices.
Will have to wait to see the embellishments on this--but I'm going to want to attempt to use some of this (more likely the embellishments, but maybe with previous Shimelle lines.) I feel like supporting her with her free content and videos. But these colors and the random prints and this AC "look", just feel like we have been there done this enough. I did a cute page with toucans before, even though these are nice I don't need another (mermaids is another one of these, and could be true for any of these "icon" heavy lines.)
