I love having a TO but the cheapy one from Walmart takes FOREVER to heat up. We use it every single day as a toaster and I like leftovers in it vs the microwave. Sometimes I use it as an oven but maybe only weekly. Suggestions?

I have been looking at the Oster Toaster/Convection oven at Costco. It is stainless and it's not too large for the counter. My son uses the toaster oven all the time, and we have a old one that is too small really. It's priced right too like $49.99.

Breville!!! It may cost a bit more but so, so worth it. I got the middle sized one and was so impressed with it, and realized I would never have to use my stove again, so I returned it and got the large one so it would fit my largest casserole dish. It does everything it's awesome. It's a convection oven, bakes, broils, toasts, warms. I love it!!!
Breville ovenI was called out on this, returning a used appliance, rightly so! So let me clarify. I actually sold it to my nail tech. She gave me free refills until she paid me for the full purchase price. I don't know why I didn't say that in the first place. It does sound rather tacky!!

I have the Costco Cuisinart convection oven toaster broiler...it's about 5 years old now. Use it almost every day, rarely use the stove's oven unless something needs a full sheet pan. It can do 2 small flat sheets at a time, or a small pizza, 6 toast slices and almost all of the casserole dishes I have. When/if this one gives up the ghost, then I'll pick up one a bit bigger, like LindaLou's.

We have a Breville, also. It's a great little toaster oven. It was kind of expensive, but I think it was worth it.

My last two have been Black & Decker with the under-cabinet mount. I had trouble finding the under-cabinet style this last time but did end up getting one from amazon.com. I think I had to order the mounting hardware separately.
I was prepared to get the big one from Costco if I couldn't find my little cabinet-mount model (I have a small kitchen and really need the counter space). That one looks great, too.
Since my last toaster-oven purchase, I've gotten a new stove with double oven, and I find I'm using the toaster-oven a little less often since I have a smaller "regular" oven now.

Breville ovenWe LOVE this oven! Almost NEVER use the full-sized one anymore. And when you pay for a quality appliance, it lasts so much longer. Our planet can't handle so much junk continuing to fill our landfills when cheapie appliances break after a few months. If you can afford to get the Breville, I'm almost positive you will be very glad that you did!

We have a Delonghi convection toaster oven we bought on points from The Bay. It was free, is stainless steel, is retro and works great.

My dh just bought a Breville TO he found on sale at WOOT. We had an old, rickety Black and Decker toaster oven, but it was too small--a friend of mine's kitchen burned down because of this toaster, so we had to constantly double check that we didn't leave it plugged in. We also had a Cusinart 4 slot push down toaster, but then we had to heat up the oven just to cook a pizza. Dh wore that unit out as well.
I'm really impressed with how many things you can cook in this Breville. It even broils. Dh really likes how sensitive the toaster settings are.
I agree that you get what you pay for. 8 years ago, I spent a bit more money for the Cusinart Griddler instead of the plain panini press. We love this workhorse, and it's still going strong. It's so easy to clean--plates pop off and are dishwasher safe--we use it all the time.

We have the Cuisinart toaster/convection oven from Costco, too. It's a little large, but I use it more than anything else in the kitchen. I can make enough toast for all of us at one time. I've had it for about 3 years and it works perfectly and constantly.

I have a Black & Decker TO. It's also a convection, toasts, bakes, broils. Love it. Use it daily. Life saver in the summer because I don't have to heat the house up with the big oven.

We have a EuroPro brand and it takes forever to make the first piece of toast. Once it's warmed up, the rest toast a lot faster and therefore are usually too done. Don't recommend this one. . .

I think I had to order the mounting hardware separately. We went through two Black and Deckers that lasted about ten years each. Loved them. Then, a year ago, we bought our third Black and Decker, and we hate the damn thing. It heats unevenly, and burns 40 % of everything we try to toast.

We have had the same experience with old vs new B&D ovens. I hate the new one we got last year. Burns things all the time. Takes a long time to toast, but then turn your back for a few seconds and the smoke alarms are going off. Pecans went from frozen to charcoal in no time this weekend. My office has 3 of these toaster ovens and everyone hates them. I don't know what B&D changed. The old model was great. We had it for nearly 15 years

Thanks for the heads up, you guys. When this one dies (hopefully many years away), maybe I'll look at something else. I don't where I'll put it, though! My counter is already full.

I love our Cuisinart toaster oven. Not too big, not too small, toasts perfectly and has adjustable racks for baking in it. The best thing about it is the removable crumb tray on the bottom. Makes it so easy to keep clean.

Breville. We have the small one and bought it to replace a Black and Decker. Love it! The footprint is good, and it is so much better than old toaster ovens. You can add time, vary settings, and the baking is reliable.

I commented earlier. Before we goto our Breville I had purchased a Black and Decker toaster oven from Costco for around $50-60. After a short time the door would not shut properly, wasting energy and time.
When our kids get permanently settled I hope to buy them each a Breville convection toaster oven and BlendTec blender. Hopefully they will last a long, long time. Ours are workhorses and just as good as the day we got them.

Breville ovenAm I reading this correctly? You purchased a new toaster oven, went home and used it, and were so impressed with it that you took it back to the store and bought a larger model? I usually "gift" the one I just purchased to one of my children or friends. Did not know a store would let you return something that had been used unless it was defective.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I can't wait to get out and look around for these suggested toaster ovens. Even more so to buy one that works!

I also love the Breville. I replaced our old rickety Black & Decker - which lasted about 13 years - with the small Breville and we love it. We roasted Hatch Chiles in it last night, have baked cookies, made toast...I swear this thing can bake/broil/grill anything. Love the Breville.
