The story on the national news told about them making an appearance together today. They talked about their frequent phone calls while GWB was in office. It was obvious that they were friendly with each other.
If these two former presidents can get along so well, it would be nice if others on the opposite side of the fence could follow their example.

I agree, it certainly would be nice, but... silly girl!

I saw that and thought the same thing. They genuinely seemed to like each other which was nice to see. It just seems like no one likes each other in DC these days to the detriment of the people. It is pretty sad actually. Think about all the people in your lives that you disagree with, and you make it work. Hell, one of my best friends is so liberal it makes me crazy, but i love her and respect that her POV is different than mine. We are still friends and find other things besides politics that we have in common. Its just what you do as adults.

That was before the extremist with microphones decided to use them to start the deep divide. I love that Bush and Clinton are good friends, even now.

I saw them, or I guess a clip of this, earlier this evening, and they do seem like they have a genuine regard for one another.
I have heard similar things about other across the aisle friendships. The thing that irritates me though, (and I'm not necessarily talking about WJC and GWB) is that when they get out in front of the cameras alone, or speaking to their own party, they all start throwing out the "red meat" and parroting talking points. I think the example set by our elected leaders is deplorable. When you are on opposite sides of an issue, polarization is inevitable, but I think they could set a much better example when it comes to the way we judge each other's heart.
Sorry.....not sure why I got off on that rant this evening......too much FB, I guess.....
