Just wandered over to Get It Scrapped, and the Calvinball Stats thread is up ( the one where you claim your spot now, then claim your points throughout March). when I get back on my computer (which automatically logs me in over there) I intend to sign up. Hope I have some energy left after 28-4-28! Who is with me? Calvinball sign up thread at GIS

I'm just going to play along here. I'm really glad I did it last year, and being a part of a community of rabid scrappers was tremendous! I strongly recommend it The points make it fun too, but it was hard for me to keep on top of it. I've been sick, so I have limited energy this winter (and limited brain cells it would seem) and I think it would be a lot for me to take on. But I think I'm still a member there, so I'll check in for some challenges now and then. grammadee , what do you eat for breakfast? Where on earth do you get all your energy?

*tentatively raises my hand* i'm really having fun with daily challenges and daily scrapping in general....so maybe Calvinball is a little more free form than 28-4-28. The challenges are actually a list of supplies, colours, techniques, projects that you can take on in any way you like. The rules are suggested by the participants and then added in by the host periodically. Then you add up your points for each of your pages/projects, adding points for every challenge you met. So if different rules called for Patterned paper background, the colour green, brads, enamel dots, multiple photos on a page, at least 3 layers, big title and metallic elements, and you created a page with 3 photos and a metallic big title on green patterned paper with a couple of matts secured with brads and a Nuvo drop border, you would claim 1 point for the page + 8 points for your elements = 9 points. One of our peas-- carolynhasacat-- last year got 100 points for one page!

DawnMcD, look at you, cutie pie with the new photo (and a new haircut?) Everyone who said "maybe" should just change it to a yes. It's a lot of fun, and last year there were so many RefuPeas playing along! It's kind of weird (in a good way) to be hanging out with "our Peaple" on a different board. So many familiar faces!

Can you explain it all a little more? Do you have to post pictures of your projects? (We can see here how slow I am to figure that process out.) is it just basically challenges and you do what you can with them? Is there a way to look at last year's Calvinball to see what it is like?
I am interested. Our 28-4-28 challenges have really motivated me this month.

(We can see here how slow I am to figure that process out.) is it just basically challenges and you do what you can with them? Is there a way to look at last year's Calvinball to see what it is like? I am interested. Our 28-4-28 challenges have really motivated me this month. Donna, here is a link to the 2018 Calvinball Rules as they stand today. When new rules are suggested and accepted, the list expands. Here is a link to Last year's list of rules by the end. As you can see they mushroomed to well over 150 ways to get a point! Something I figured out last year was that if I use a particular element--say handwritten journaling--on most of my pages, I suggest it as a rule. When it is accepted, I get a bonus point every time I do what I always do. Also, if I want to make myself use something more often--this year it may be my new Silhouette machine--I can add that as a "rule" and then it gives me extra incentive to figure out how to use it more often. You count your own points, so don't have to share your pages. They do have a Gallery over there, and once you sign up as a member you can use it to display any pages you like. But you don't need to post in their Gallery to claim your points. One word of caution: if you post in their Gallery, your page becomes pinnable on Pinterest, so if you don't mind sharing your pages with scrappy friends, but you don't want them in larger distribution that may be a consideration. I love to go through their Gallery for inspiration. And an added incentive to do this is that you can claim 1 point for commenting on 10 posts in the Gallery.

grammadee thank you for answering my questions. This sounds like a fun challenge. I think I will give it a try. I am looking for things to alleviate my boredom from being home bound to avoid the flu.

The thing is that it doesn't actually start until March 1st, but you can register now. And you can troll their Calvinball gallery from past years to give yourself ideas for what you could do when Calvinball starts. Or that you could lift for entries in 28-4-28.

Unfortunately not as I have a really busy March at work with a 2 week court hearing. I don't expect I'll be doing a lot of crafting.

I just went to the site and tried to register and I got a page that said it wasn’t safe. Has anyone else gotten this? I have been going back and forth all morning, and no problems here. Of course, I am logged in over there automatically from my computer. But when I stopped in as a guest from my ipad last night I didn't get any warning messages and nothing was blocked. I have been a member of Get It Scrapped off and on for several years. It is a paid membership and includes classes and webinars. But whether or not my membership for classes is paid up I have always had access to the Forum, and can use my usual password to log in there so can post in the message board and the gallery. It might be just a warning that you have never been there before?

I've never done it and probably won't this time either. I don't have anything against it--I just feel like I'm getting my challenge on for 28-4-28 and will probably like a break in March.

Glad you are enjoying 28-4-28. This is the first year we have done this, so it's good to know people are having a good time and "getting their scrap on". I have signed up over at GIS, but after the frenzy over here this month I prob won't be hitting that one as hard as I have in the past. Back to back scrappy marathons are a bit over the top!

i am considering it--i have history (not good) with the owner of get it scrapped..is she on the boards a lot? Nope. Run completely by members. Not a lot of discussion as such on the Calvinball boards, anyway. The main thread is for points counting, and there are a couple of Q&A threads. A friendly trash talk thread usually pops up. Between scrapping and counting points, and commenting on pages in the Gallery, I keep busy enough over there. For chatting, I come over here. Debbie sometimes responds to questions, but for the most part she stays in the background.

I thought I would do it for sure this year until we started doing our Feb challenges here. I'm not sure if I can do two months of back to back full on creating. I'll see how I feel towards the end of the month, but I think I'll probably give it a miss.

I've always liked the idea of Calvinball but March is too busy for me. It seems like it would require a lot of attention to keep up with the changing rules and tracking points. Have fun, ladies. I will enjoy reading about your progress here.

Hmmm....I seem to be having trouble registering over there. Maybe it is a sign. It is telling me "What the heck? You have enough to do already!!!" I guess I will just work on that.
