Cotton & Perdue Act
Politico
Washington Post
From Politico.. (see link) “Senate moderates reach immigration deal — but GOP opposition builds Trump is pressuring Republicans to oppose any plan other than his own.” Greg Sargent... “As Politico reports, a bipartisan deal has now been reached. But GOP opposition is only building. Why? Because "Trump is pressuring Republicans to oppose any plan other than his own." politico.com/story/2018/02/… Which confirms:” Eric Wolfson... “Trump & the #GOP claim they are taking “the mainstream, middle ground on immigration.” @theplumlinegs breaks down how “the basic facts of this situation illustrate the absurdity of the GOP position”: washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-lin…” From the Washington Post and what the tweet is referring to... (see linkI) “Trump is the one who ended protections for the dreamers to begin with Trump then said he wanted Congress to come up with a bipartisan solution protecting them in a more permanent way. Trump has repeatedly said protecting the dreamers is the right thing to do. Whether he means this or not is beside the point; perhaps entirely because he doesn’t want to be blamed for driving them underground, he wants to be associated with an outcome in which they are protected. Dem and GOP senators produced a version of the deal Trump asked for, one in which the dreamers would be legalized in exchange for cutting diversity visas and nixing any possibility of legalization for the dreamers’ parents. Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer even expressed openness to giving Trump money for his wall. Trump rejected those offers. Dems repeatedly asked administration officials what further concessions they might accept and got no answer. Now officials are threatening a veto if Trump doesn’t get everything he wants, and Republicans are describing this as the middle-ground position.” What trump supports is the Cotton & Perdue Act. ( see link) Which when you read it, it comes across for what it is. Yes I’m going to use that word. A word I labeled the Act with when I first read it several months ago. It is a racist piece of legislation put together and supported by those who are trying to slow down this country going from a white majority to a white minority. In fact the Washington Post wrote an article saying that if the trump/Cotton & Perdue Act becomes law it will only slow down the switch by 5 years.

linkAnd so it starts. The Hill “Blue Cross of Idaho to offer health plan that charges more for pre-existing conditions, breaking ObamaCare rules hill.cm/ogyHCiA” “Blue Cross of Idaho on Wednesday announced that it will offer health insurance plans that do not meet ObamaCare requirements after a controversial executive order from the state's Republican governor. The move by the insurer is a step further for Gov. Butch Otter's plan to bring cheaper options into the market. He says ObamaCare plans are too expensive and more healthy people need to be drawn into the marketplace. But his proposal is legally questionable and has drawn backlash from Democrats who say he is simply ignoring federal law.”

And the lies continue.....
Axois..
“Pence: "Irrespective of efforts that were made in 2016 by foreign powers, it is the universal conclusion of our intelligence communities that none of those efforts had any impact on the outcome of the 2016 election" #Axios360”
prompted this response from Aaron Blake..
“Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Intel report explicitly states it *would not weigh in* on impact of Russian meddling.”
Which is true because I remember reading and hearing that.
So now you have the Vice President of the United States deliberately lying to the people of the United States to fit the narrative the trump administration is trying to push “that there is nothing there”.

Political polls...
“Do you think that Donald Trump is honest? Yes 42% No 53% . Do you think that Donald Trump is a liar? Yes 49% No 44%
@ppppolls 2/9-11”
What amazes me, 44% don’t think trump is a liar. I mean for heavens sakes I have never seem someone like trump who tells as many verifiable lies that he does. There is nothing subjective to the lies he tells.

Sounds like the kiss of death. How much do you want to bet that Kelly is on his way out.😀

“U.S. Coast Guard crew offloads about 14,000 pounds of seized cocaine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, worth an estimated $190 million. abcn.ws/2CkPP07”
This is why the wall won’t work. And this is why the Coast Guard Budget shouldn’t be cut but it should be increased.

Paul Waldman on “The Perfert Stormy💨”
“Didn't get this into my soon-to-be-published piece on The Perfect Stormy, but the best precedent for this is the John Edwards case, which you may have forgotten. /1
In the 2008 campaign, Edwards was having an affair with a videographer named Rielle Hunter. His patron, heiress Bunny Mellon, paid Hunter $200,000, supposedly for her silence. In 2011 Edwards was charged with conspiracy and campaign finance violations. /2
But he got acquitted on the campaign finance charge because Mellon's payment to Hunter came after he had dropped out of the race, even though he was still angling to be VP or AG in an Obama administration. /3
The jury deadlocked on the conspiracy charges, a mistrial was declared, and Edwards was a free man. /4
The Perfect Stormy (and yes, I'm still pushing that name) is both more clear-cut - she got her payoff just weeks from the election - and more complex, because Cohen seems to have acted as a cut-out and we don't know if Trump actually put up the money. /5
Based solely on what we know now, I wouldn't bet on any indictments. But we'll have to see what else we learn. /end“

2. I don’t care how long this parade is $10M- $30M can be put to better use than a stupid parade. And that is ONLY an estimate and we know how those go..............

hop2 Great post. I was living in Europe about the same time , and remember when the Balkans flared up and Austria closed its border. It was such a heady time when the Iron Curtain collapsed and suddenly all these countries, cultures and adventures were open to us. I have to say Bush I handled it with subtlety and class, vs. Trump's method of rudeness and dehumanization. GHWB didn't gloat or demean or talk about Eastern European shitholes. Whatever issue I may have with some of his other presidential choices, that was probably his finest moment. I agree with you about the abundance vs. scarcity mindset. In terms of natural resources, I do worry about the price of climate change and how that will affect our food supply, our water supply, population movement, and disease outbreak. This will tie into future immigration, so it surprises me that Republicans refuse to even recognize its existence, let alone develop a working strategy to combat it, since they are indeed obsessed with stopping people from impoverished and war-torn countries from finding safety here. We can't stop globalism any more than we can unring a bell, it's here to stay, and problems across the world will eventually reach our own doors if not dealt with properly. As someone who's always lived in large cities in "blue" areas all my life, the whole evangelical/political phenomenon has been a mystery to me. I just don't get the religious entitlement that this particular sect should run the government, impose their values on the people, and make judicial decisions not on the constitution and law, but on the bible. That alone is why I could never be a Republican. Europe did the state religion thing for centuries--and as you know--it didn't turn out well for most people. Northern Ireland, once "A Protestant Place for a Protestant People," is still really toxic even after letting go of systemic religious discrimination and gerrymandering, with a long civil war in their rear view mirror to show for it. Do Republicans really want something like this? Or do they just pander to the mega churches for big money and votes? Something has got to give sooner or later, and it's going to be sooner, I think. I don't understand the siege mentality or the rage over red Starbucks cups. I couldn't care less what someone's religious beliefs are. We have such big problems that we're not dealing with now, and with Trump it's like nobody is at the wheel. Eh, I'm rambling. Your post really got me thinking about the bigger picture.

pierogi. It’s an opinion piece from the NYT times not my writing. But some couldn’t read the link. I do agree with most of what in the opinion piece. A lot of things started to make sense when looked at in that manner. I think both Republicans & Democrats are coming at politic from a scarcity mindset - for me to win you HAVE to loose. All of us here in the middle are like WTF happened? And that article made sense to me as an explaination. No way I can write that well.

Washington PostKyle Griffin... “Trump’s military parade would likely cost between $10,000,000 and $30,000,000.” From the Washington Post article... “Mulvaney offered the estimate during questioning at the House Budget Committee. He said the White House hasn’t yet budgeted for the parade and would either rely on Congress to appropriate funds, or use money that already has been approved. “The estimates I’ve seen, they’re very preliminary, is between 10 [million dollars] and 30 [million dollars] depending upon the length,” Mulvaney said. “Obviously an hour parade is different from a five-hour parade in terms of the cost and the equipment and those types of things.” 1. Who would already have approved money for this parade? Or is the White House planning on reallocating money from something else to pay for this trump ego feeding parade. 2. I don’t care how long this parade is $10M- $30M can be put to better use than a stupid parade. I’m still on the point that a refupea mentioned last week. A parade, with a time, date & predetermined route would be one hell of a terrorist target. For that reason alone it should not be done!!! I mean one solitary wacko (Rahimi ) succeeded in planting a bomb along the route of a semper fi 5k and it could have been a more successful bombing if the race had not been delayed for an unrelated reason. Could you imagine a parade? Parades require a staging area where the participating persons & vehicles gather. Parades require a predesignated route. Talk about a target. It’s the stupidest idea I’ve heard.

Rep Joe Kennedy III...
“Bullets tearing through classrooms followed by images of terrified students and grieving parents should shock us to our very core. This shouldn’t be treated as a fact of American life. Devastated - again - for the young lives we lost today.”
No it doesn’t shock. If it did shock us, would have stopped this years ago,

Phillip Rucker...
“I remember being at the White House on Dec. 14, 2012, the day of Sandy Hook. Obama went into the briefing room that afternoon to address the American people. A different WH approach today. Trump hasn’t spoken on camera, and his staff just called a lid.”
Different presidents, different men. This one doesn’t care about anything that does not fit his narrative of what he wants to project. The fact there is a gun problem is just an inconvenience little truth he chooses to ignore.

Didn;t know the numbers were that high.. earlier reports were 30-40..... Third White House official resigns after being told he wouldn’t qualify for full clearance
National Economic Council official George David Banks departed amid increasing scrutiny of the Trump administration's decision to let multiple staffers work on interim clearances. By ANDREW RESTUCCIA 02/14/2018 01:00 PM EST Updated 02/14/2018 01:05 PM EST A senior official on the National Economic Council says he resigned on Tuesday after being informed that he would not receive a permanent security clearance, as the White House faces increasing scrutiny over the number of high-ranking officials allowed to work on interim clearances. George David Banks, who had served since February 2017 as special assistant to the president for international energy and environmental policy, told POLITICO that he was informed by the White House counsel’s office Tuesday that his application for a permanent clearance would not be granted over his past marijuana use. www.politico.com/story/2018/02/14/third-white-house-official-resigns-after-being-told-he-wouldnt-qualify-for-full-clearance-409246
