Trump attorney stating that he personally paid the porn star $130,000 and neither Trump nor his campaign paid him back. Actually, the statement was that neither the Trump ORGANIZATION nor the Trump Campaign paid him back. There's every possibility Donald Trump, personally, or one of the other Trumps, reimbursed Cohen. www.nytimes.com/2018/02/13/us/politics/stormy-daniels-michael-cohen-trump.html“Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed me for the payment, either directly or indirectly,” Mr. Cohen said in a statement to The New York Times. “The payment to Ms. Clifford was lawful, and was not a campaign contribution or a campaign expenditure by anyone.” Of course, Trump could have paid him or Jared K or a myriad of other people. What lawyer pays without expecting reimbursement from a client? Yep, no one.

More interesting data especially following up the Stormy Daniels story and Michael Cohen admitting there was a payoff. Data from fec.gov consolidates all the data. I saw this on Twitter but wanted to verify for myself. People are speculating on the Trump Tower payments and the double rent in October, Oct 7th and 31st. The Trump campaign paid $283k 11/2016 when previous months were 169K. Then $130K in December. So people say that was the payment for the hush money. Now in November the amount jumped for $169K to $283K so it jumped up $114K more. Transition costs? But why then did it drop back down in December? Why 2 $169K payments in October. Interesting. Or some people say the data is quite interesting. www.fec.gov/data/disbursements/?two_year_transaction_period=2016&data_type=processed&committee_id=C00580100&recipient_name=Trump+tower+commercial+llc&min_date=01%2F01%2F2015&max_date=12%2F31%2F2016&disbursement_description=rentSpender Recipient State Description Disbursement date Amount DONALD J. I believe the attorney paid it and is lying, he was reimbursed. Via Trump personally, through an intermediary or from the campaign I haven't seen enough evidence to lean in one direction or the other. IIRC one of the watch dog groups brought this to the attention of the FEC and it is being investigated. But to play to the payment by the campaign theory, look at the amount of the first transaction listed. eta: missed it originally in your post. The 12/21/2016 payment is the one most people believe was the payback for the payoff.

I don’t believe Pence hands are clean in whatever happened. So it will be interesting to see just how much Pence was involved in whatever is uncovered.

“I will be leaving for Florida today to meet with some of the bravest people on earth - but people whose lives have been totally shattered. Am also working with Congress on many fronts.”
1. I doubt if he is planning on meeting with any of the kids, especially the ones that ripped him apart on twitter yesterday because he’s too much of a coward to face these kids in person.
2. Let’s be clear here, the only reason he is going to Florida is to spend the weekend at Mar a Lago. If the shooting had been in say California he wouldn’t make the trip.
3. He ain’t working with Congress on any front never mind many fronts.
Now I could be wrong about him wanting to meet with some of the kids. If that’s his plan I hope the kids refuse because he would only be using those kids as a photo op to suggest to people that he cares. But of course we know that he doesn’t care about anybody but himself.

Good gravy, the comments on that article from conservatives who say it was all consensual and there were agreements, so what's the big deal, make me want to rip the up their voter registration cards. They are not the Republican party of personal or fiscal responsibility. Anyone making comments like that has devolved into a cultlike fervor for the most unworthy of leaders.

“Laura Ingraham says #LeBronJames should "shut up and dribble" and leave political comments to people who didn't leave high school a year early.”
I would make one change. I would say people who don’t vote should shut up and leave political comments to those that do. If you can vote and you do vote then make all political comments you want. I suspect, much to this Laura Ingrahm’s dismay, LeBron James does vote.
There was a video of her slamming another video of LeBron and my guy Kevin Durant talking about politics in general and trump specifically.
Since I don’t watch Fox News this was the first time I heard her rant, she really is a first class bitch isn’t she.

He is such a liar. But he is right about one thing and that’s the Republicans are working hard, not about saving DACA, but working hard to find more ways to screw the American people.

“Trump’s budget:
✂ Cuts Medicaid by $1.1 trillion ✂ Cuts Social Security by $72 billion ✂ Cuts Medicare by $266 billion
No one can argue with a straight face that our nation is made stronger by cutting these priorities. Families and seniors will suffer. This is immoral.”
This should not be lost in all the craziness swirling around. Especially since the only reason these cuts are in trump’s budget is to pay for his tax cut. And when I say his I mean his personal tax cut and that of his business organizations.

So Nunes has a Facebook Page called California Republicans. On the page was this article but when you clicked on it you got error messages. That was a couple of days ago and when I checked there it was. I had expected Nunes himself had written why he felt the need to release the memo. No just some guy at National Review. Interesting take.
“Understanding the process behind #ReleaseTheMemo
After the House After the House Intelligence committee approved the public disclosure of the Nunes memo, in accordance with House rules, the President has 5 calendar days to object to its release. If he does not object, the memo will be publicly released.
If he does object, the Intelligence committee will reconsider releasing the memo by reporting the matter to the full House of Representatives, hold a debate among all members of the House in secret session, and vote on public release of the memo. You’ve seen the hashtag, you’ve followed the story, but what exactly is going on with House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes’ memo on potential surveillance abuses by the FBI?
The National Review’s Andrew C. McCarthy breaks down a lot of the process – and pitfalls – before the House Intelligence Committee voted to seek public disclosure of the memo.
the problem: How do we convey important information without imperiling the sources and methods through which it was obtained?
Fortunately, this is far from a unique problem: It comes up all the time in court cases that involve intelligence matters, and Congress has prescribed a process for dealing with it in the Classified Information Procedures Act (CIPA). There are various remedies: Sometimes the classified information can be declassified and disclosed without causing danger; sometimes the classified information can be redacted without either jeopardizing sources or compromising our ability to grasp the significance of what is disclosed. When neither of those solutions is practical, the preferred disclosure method is to prepare a declassified summary that answers the relevant questions without risking exposure of critical intelligence secrets and sources.
Nunes took the initial step of releasing the memo to members of Congress to ensure that they had adequate opportunity to make suggestions of information to be included in a potential public release.
But what about the FBI and Justice Department not getting a peek at the memo, you ask?
McCarthy adds that the DOJ/FBI dismay is ironic:
These executive-branch agencies did not cooperatively comply with congressional investigators; they stonewalled for five months. To this day they are stonewalling: Just this weekend, they belatedly fessed up that the FBI had failed to preserve five months’ worth of text messages — something they had to have known for months.
And lastly, what about Robert Mueller?
The memo reportedly addresses an issue that is at least as significant as election meddling by Russia and suspected but unproven Trump-campaign collusion in it, namely: election meddling by the intelligence and law-enforcement arms of government and Clinton-campaign collusion in it.
For example, if the principal basis for the allegation that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia were shown to be the shoddy, unverified Steele dossier, this allegation would be discredited — and deservedly so.

Wait, I paid into SS and Medicare all my life.. Over 60 years.

Special counsel court filing reveals new bank fraud allegations against ManafortBy Katelyn Polantz, CNN Updated 9:13 PM ET, Fri February 16, 2018 (CNN)Special counsel Robert Mueller's office dropped more potentially damning details -- from an allegation of "additional criminal conduct" to personal financial troubles -- in a response to Paul Manafort's request to change his bail proposal on Friday. The newly discovered alleged criminal conduct "includes a series of bank frauds and bank fraud conspiracies," a filing from the special counsel's office said on Friday night. No new charges have been filed in open court against Manafort since he pleaded not guilty to nine counts of money laundering and making false statements about his business on October 30. But CNN has reported that additional indictments against the former Trump campaign chairman are being prepared. In their filing Friday, prosecutors allege Manafort received a $9 million mortgage on a house of his in Fairfax, Virginia, by giving the Federal Savings Bank doctored business statements that overstated his wealth. The special counsel's office said it could show the court evidence of this bank fraud "and other bank frauds and conspiracies" at its next hearing, which has not yet been set. Manafort proposed the house in Fairfax as one of four properties that could secure his bail. Another is an apartment he owns in Trump Tower in New York, which is at risk of foreclosure, the prosecutors said.More at link: www.cnn.com/2018/02/16/politics/manafort-filing-bank-fraud-allegations/index.htmlHope he doesn't think dt will let the mortgage payments go.. Although dt cold use that as leverage against Manafort!

President Trump’s response to mass tragedies: Blame the victimsBY GREGORY J. WALLANCE, OPINION CONTRIBUTOR — 02/16/18 02:15 PM EST THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY CONTRIBUTORS ARE THEIR OWN AND NOT THE VIEW OF THE HILL In June 2017, following a terrorist knife and truck attack in London that killed seven people and injured 48 others, President Trump falsely tweeted that London’s mayor, Sadiq Khan, had downplayed the attacks by telling the city “there is ‘no reason to be alarmed.’” (The mayor actually told Londoners not to be alarmed if they saw police activity on the streets.) In September, after Category 5 Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, Trump tweeted that Puerto Ricans were to blame for the island’s slow recovery. “Such poor leadership by the Mayor of San Juan and others in Puerto Rico who are not able to get their workers to help.” And the day after 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz killed 17 people and wounded more than a dozen others at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in South Florida, Trump tweeted that the community and the high school students could have prevented the tragedy. “So many signs that the Florida shooter was mentally disturbed, even expelled from school for bad and erratic behavior. Neighbors and classmates knew he was a big problem. Must always report such instances to authorities, again and again.” As the saying goes, once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, and three times is a pattern. This president is like the man who rushes up to a broken and bleeding pedestrian on the street and, without having witnessed the accident, berates him for crossing against the light. ** Trump has two default instincts. One instinct, regardless of circumstance, is to take credit for everything that is positive even if he had nothing to do with it, like the absence of fatal commercial airplane crashes under his presidency. The other instinct is to pre-emptively blame others for calamities for which he ought be held responsible. When it comes to stopping mass shootings, Trump has fought gun control legislation and his latest budget cut public funds for mental health treatment. ** More at link: thehill.com/opinion/white-house/374232-president-trumps-response-to-mass-tragedies-blame-the-victimsSome thing to think about!
