I was with someone when they went into a temporary amnesia. It was truly terrifying, and we ended up calling an ambulance to take her to the hospital. We called her daughter first, and she told us to call the ambulance. I rode in the ambulance with her, and the whole experience was so scary. She had no idea who she was, where she was, what she was doing, or what she was supposed to be doing. She was very scared as she knew something was wrong, but couldn't understand what. She said I looked familiar, but she didn't know why or who I was. When her daughter got there, she said the same thing, that she looked familiar but she didn't know why or how. For her, it took about 4 hours and she began to remember who she was. In the end the doctor said they can't tell exactly why it happens, but it could be brought on by stress. Something like this could have happened in this case. That sounds like it could have been transient global amnesia (TGA). I had an episode of that a few years ago and when I saw my doctor, he told me next time it happened to go to the emergency room. I did google it and evidently its normally a one time happening and is rare to reoccur. Good thing, it was a weird feeling (like a dream) coming out of it.

I have this weirdly bizarre fear of this happening to me - that I'll somehow become disoriented and not know what I'm doing and just end up somewhere. I You okay? You started a new paragraph with "I" and then...well...vanished. Did you cyber wander and then finish your sentence on a completely different forum -- maybe one about toe fetishes or motorcycle repair? Tell us where you are. We'll come get you. ~AmeliaBloomer Couldn't resist Oh, how I have missed you!

Do we know if he was skiing or snowboarding? If he was snowboarding, the boots, while not the most comfortable, are walkable.

Yes, that was her official diagnosis. For the people wondering if the trucker that picked him up would have noticed something, in my case, my friend could talk normally and still knew what was going on in the immediate presence. We were actually at a restaurant, and the three of us all noticed something a little different with our friend after we been there about 10 minutes. When she ordered, she ordered something completely different from her usual and different from what she had just told us she was going to order. When one if us teased her, she totally snapped at us which is not like her at all. It went on for a few more minutes, when she finally said that something was wrong, and we started asking her questions, and she revealed that she had no idea who we were. At first we thought maybe it was low blood sugar or something, so we had her drink orange juice, but that didn't help. We knew something was different, but only because we were her friends and we knew her. She ordered her food normally, and could carry on a conversation. I have no idea what happened in this case, but if he did go into some kind of Amnesia state, he could have said he was just going towards California without knowing why or where exactly he was going.

They went on the article in the OP to discuss what “riders” on the mountain thought about the situation, so I assumed snowboarding. I haven’t heard skiers referred to as “riders.”

In that same article they referred to Filippidis as a skier.
