I'm going to be able to go to my first scrapbook expo for more than a couple hours to shop...and I'm going for 4 days/3 nights. The stars aligned or something! I'm really looking forward to it, but omg...I have no idea how to pack for a crop (even though I'm going to crop in my room). I plan to bring my firestick, several untouched kits, ink, blocks, a few stamps outside of the kits, my 2nd half of 2017 PL album, my 2018 PL album, trimmers, an ottlite, small tools, enamel dots, my elle's studio stash (most of it is in one container, so it's easy to grab), my flat alphas, my favorite roller date stamps, lots of adhesive, a raskog to put it all in, my folding table, a mat...ack...I just know I'm going to forget something important. Here's hoping it's nothing pricey so I can just replace it on the expo floor!
You guys, I am so excited. I have never stayed more than a night away from my kids before. Only once was that night not me being in the hospital to have another baby. I have only ever stayed away overnight (a friend and I went to Disneyland) without my husband ONCE.
I'm sure I'm driving the hotel, the venue and the expo people crazy. I have called several times the past couple of days since I booked my hotel to ask questions about all sorts of things because I don't do well with surprises. I'd rather ask a billion unnecessary questions than end up stranded or screwing something important up because I didn't think of it ahead of time.
Any classes you recommend? So far, there is only one that is appealing to me and that's the galaxy cards one with Ken Oliver using the Color Bursts.

I've never gone to an Expo, but it sounds like you'll have a fantastic time! I hope you can meet up with some RefuPeas while you're there

Sounds like an exciting time ahead!
Don't overpack. Take your photos and your go to essentials, and plan on buying the rest there. Take an iris container to bring home your finished projects.
And don't overbook yourself. If a class seems interesting, then take it, but don't exhaust yourself running from class to class and then have no time to scrap. If you DO sign up for the colour burst class, maybe take a project you msy be able to use that technique for.
Also, don't forget to just take some time for YOU! Pamper yourself a bit. Eat what you want. Get enough sleep. And have FUN,!!

Good for you scrapaddict702! Have a great time. Don't be calling home all the time. Let your hubby deal with the kids. Are you staying at the hotel by the venue?

The king room looks to have a door (otherwise why have 2 tv's in a small space, lol) so I'll basically have a bedroom and a cropping room.

I love Expo! I love to sign up for the crops so I can take breaks at my crop table throughout the day and store my purchases. Have fun and bring money!

I’ve been to a couple of other events since then. Its pretty nice as fairgrounds go. I don’t know if you’re driving or shuttling, but if you’re driving get there early since parking can be bad and you may have to walk a ways.

The hotel is actually on the fairground property. So, I'll either walk or take a shuttle, depending on what's available. Lots of women have said it's not a good place to walk at night, so I'm hoping the shuttle goes to the hotel since that's who the expo is partnered with so I can go in the evening if I need a brain break. Free parking at the hotel. It's .2 miles away according to google.

They had a shuttle when I went since the place is massive and we had to park far from the building. Save your feet for walking around the vendor booths and checking out fun make and takes.

I am excited just reading your post! I hope you have a lot of fun! I've never stayed for the crop at an Expo, but other crops I have gone to I took almost everything. As mentioned by a previous poster bring an extension cord. I have a heavy duty grounded extension cord that has five plugs on the end. It's called the PowerSquid. I keep it with my crafting stuff. Also, don't forget to bring snacks and water.

I think I might have to start packing in a week or 2. My aim is to get caught up on photos this week so I can put them in my albums next week (my costco sucks, so I order online and have them shipped because 4x6's ship free) and have that aspect all set up to go. I'm not looking forward to making the long drive again, but I decided to extend my stay to Sunday instead of just Saturday so I could feel a bit less rushed. I will definitely bring an extension cord and a spare light. I think I may need to start a list!!

How Fun!! I love getting away for a solid block of scrapbooking time all for myself. I will second the don't call home too often and let hubby deal with things like FurryP suggested. I always bring my Ott light because you never know what the lighting situation is gonna be like.

Free parking at the hotel. It's .2 miles away according to google. The hotel is really part of the convention center, with a very large parking area in front. Hotel guests must have a priority area, since the other fairground parking is a little far. It's walkable, but that's the lot they would also have a shuttle for. I go to lunch at the hotel every now and then, so I'll do a recon mission when I get a chance, and post pictures. It sounds like you are in for a fun, relaxing few days. I'll be interested in seeing how it goes with this new venue!

Why crop in your room? Attend the show crops, meet new friends, learn new things, win prizes, and get a gift bag.

Why crop in your room? Attend the show crops, meet new friends, learn new things, win prizes, and get a gift bag. I posted about having this idea in another thread a while ago, but basically it amounts to a few things. I am an introvert. I need time to myself to feel like myself. As a stay at home mom, I haven't seen any significant time to myself in 7 1/2 years. A few days of peace and quiet might seem terrible to some people, but to me, I can't envision anything better. I also struggle a lot socially. I have almost no social skills to speak of. So instead of focusing on what I want to get done and having fun, I would be stressed out trying to make sure I didn't say something stupid. I wouldn't enjoy myself. At all. Therefore, to me, this is a perfect balance. I get to go to the shop floor and I can take a class or two to have some interaction with people, but I will still have my quiet space to return to when the classes are done and I don't want to be on the shop floor anymore. Some people love to be social and find a room full of hundreds of strangers to be exciting. I, however, am not one of those people.

I am so excited to scrap in my room. Sometimes just quiet time away from the norm is just perfect.
