...covering one single event? A bit of context: my niece, who just turned three, celebrated her first Carnival on Tuesday. It was in school. She had on a Doc McStuffins costume and paraded with her class in the playground, participated in which-class-is-the-loudest using handmade maracas, threw confettis around, ate crêpes, etc. So far, I'd like to make a dozen layouts--about her costume, about her first class and school, about the parade and the like, though I'm not going to cover everything that happened (for example, crêpes and maracas will only be mentionned). I'd also like to scrap how thoughtful she was dusting confettis off my clothes, how happy I was to be able to attend (it's usually parents-only), etc. I'm going to keep all the pages together in my 2018 album. A dozen layouts for two hours is a bit much, but I don't feel guilty at all. I know many scrappers would rather scrap daily, routine life than events. I have often read about scrappers who do not like making birthday layouts, for instance. I understand. I like both. So I became curious-- what is the maximum number of layouts you made covering one single event? Would you like to share, please? PS: my whole post was edited for clarification (hopefully). I apologize for any misunderstanding. PPS: Carnival is not a religious celebration for us. Think Halloween, but less scary and in March. PPPS: if you understand my question, could you help me fix it grammatically please?

I would say four pages of the event itself (with multiple photos). But, then I've also done additional pages related to subjects within the event, that I scrapped, say, with one photo, and not referenced the event, per se. (Like a particular look on a face or something that I wanted to have on its own). That would be for the type of event you describe.
I've done entire albums on weddings, baby and bridal showers, etc.
I've done mini albums for in between sized events.

Like Prenticekid, I have put together whole albums for weddings and grads and family reunions. This past month I did eight 12 x 12 pages about a one evening experience.

It depends on how many good photos I have....every single one and some bad ones, too! I don't really know, but probably 4-6 for most events. I also scrap my favorites over and over.
When I had grandchildren here in town, I would set up my tripod on the front porch and get every guest with family as they came and all kinds of mamaratzi craziness.

If I am not going to do a whole 12x12 album, but it is more than 4 pages, I will do a mini album.

I don't usually create more than a two page spread for one event. I think I have scrapbooking ADD... I pick the best photos, scrapbook them, and move on! But that is my personal preference.

Four, I think. If I had more pictures than that and I'd probably do a mini album.

Not including separate wedding, bat mitzvah, and vacation albums?
Twice I've put together 8 page birthday party layouts, a 6 page trip to the zoo, a 6 pager on bathing the twins in the kitchen sink, and a 6 pager of one of the weeks my BFF came to visit.
It sounds excessive when I type those numbers in, but they really don't seem like overkill when I'm flipping through the albums.

I don’t think I’ve ever done more than a 2-page spread for a single event. Just the highlights and favorite photos. But most of my pages have 3-5 photos.
It sounds like you have some great ideas for your layouts. Maybe a separate album is the way to go?

Thank you all for your answers. I apologize, I edited my post. Hopefully it's clearer now. Prenticekid I often scrap things from an event that is not event-related, too. So many things to scrap about, right? Do you file these pages together, though? Prenticekid sjwoody1167 Elsabelle You're right, mini albums are a good option. grammadee 8 layouts covering an evening--I feel less alone now! @elaynef You're right, sometimes it does depend on the number of pictures taken. I'm glad you're allowed mamarazzi craziness! If only I was too... craftymom101 Absolutely! There are no rules except to enjoy our hobby. msliz Doesn't sound excessive to me! oaksong The worst thing is--these upcoming pages are kind of the highlights. Most of them will have a lot of pictures, mostly 3x4 and 4x6. I did think about doing a separate album, but I decided against it. I don't mind these pages taking over my 2018 album because at the rate I'm going, I will have many volumes for the year!

I often have multiple pages for events...I also love to add a 6x12 page in between for extra photos and to have a place to record my journaling...that allows me to have lots of photos and words( which my DH will tell you I have lots!!) while saving some space.

I do the same thing. @millefeuilles I think you should do the number of layouts that makes YOU happy. It's your scrapbook. When my first grandchild was a toddler, I did many pages of events. I'm trying to cut back a little, because of the number of albums I have accumulated! It sounds like a really fun day. Do all the layouts that you want!

The maximum for me would be as many as I want. I don’t put rules on scrapbooking. Years and years ago, I stopped scrapping for five years because of rules that I had placed upon myself, which in turn made the whole craft no fun, and so I quit.
When I came back, I decided that I would scrap with no rules. I would do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, as much as I wanted, about anything I wanted to do.
I could scrap a tree from 10 years ago in earth-toned paper and then the next page do an ice cream cone I ate yesterday in bright colors and put them side by side in any album that had empty pages to spare.
Nobody cares. Sky is the limit. I’ve had great fun since.

It's funny you posted this question. I just finished doing12 pages of a weekend trip last Mother's Day to our cabin. I was feeling it was a little excessive but there was a lot of photos I wanted to use for many different activities. I agree with Kath, no rules or guilt in my scrapbooking!!!!

When I hit a point where I had 3 crammed full books (think 40+ layouts each) for one year I decided to chang things up a bit. Now if it's a special event or I have a lot of gotta have em photos I use C-Line fold out pages. I get 6 pages that way.

@elaynef Ha! I am not super strict about cutting down the pages I create. I have become more selective in choosing which photos I print. With digital cameras, we now have so many more photos than when we used film.
That said, a professional photographer was at our grandson's hockey tournament 2 weeks ago. I tagged 216 photos as favorites! I need to cut it down to 50, the minimum order for a flash drive or CD purchase. I'm down to 137, so I still have a way to go, LOL. Plus, I know I can't/shouldn't print them all.

If you love the pictures, or if you have a lot of things you want to remember, there isn't a correct amount. I am sure that sometime down the line, this young lady would love to see the pictures and read the details of the event. All she might have are copies on a phone.

I scrap all of our vacations in their own albums. People at crops will frequently give their opinion on having so many pictures for a one to two week event. I am pretty dang good with my cameras and take over 600 pictures on vacations. I see candids, staged, and settings as things that need to be photographed. We mostly travel to the Caribbean, and the colors of the water and surroundings are just amazing. I also make two albums of each trip (two kids). I really don't care that others would do that. I look at my vacation albums 10 x more often than last year's album of year. I also find that family and friends interested in visiting an area want to know specifics about places we've been and I can always check my albums for the details.

I’ve scrapped the exact same photos over 10 ways many times! If I loved the event that much, why not? Plus I’m always trying to justify all the spending! Lol

I routinely make more than one layout for one event... I take LOTS of photos, and I want to use a lot of them on my pages.
not sure what the total amount will be since I haven't made them yet, but we went to a show of Samurai armor at the art museum, and I took over 300 photos in only three-four hours, lol. So I will probably make at least 4-5 two page layouts with photos from that event, along with a couple pocket page layouts, too, I'm sure.
When we went to Iolani Palace in Honolulu, I think I made, maybe, four (?) 2-pg layouts?? I think the visit we took to Pearl Harbor will be at least five 2-pg layouts...
I see no problem with making multiple layouts covering one event-- I typically showcase different aspects of the event on each of the layouts in some way, but not always. Sometimes I just have too many pretty photos that I want to include.
ETA: and yes, those layouts would be put next to each other, because I put them (mostly) chronologically into my albums.

I don’t have a maximum. I scrap as much or as little as I want.
Honestly, I don’t want to stress my scrappiness by placing limitations on myself.

We pack our trips with day trips too. I love to go through this albums and never have thought that I had too many pictures. My son's gf often looks through our vacation books and asks so many questions. I think I might have inadvertently convinced her to want to destination wedding (when the time comes).

I think 12 pages that I didn't make into a separate album.. it was part of a vacation, we went to the Precious Moments park in Missouri plus we also went to see where Laura Ingalls lived which was nearby. I think I did about 12 pages between the two but didn't make that trip into a separate album.

I've done layouts spanning up to 4 pages for my senior year album (So prom, graduation, grad night, ect.) But I was also using 4x6 full photos at that time.
Now I often order my photos by making collages of 3x4, 3x2, and 2x3 on a 4x6 sheet so I can fit 2-4 times as may photos on a layout. (I still print my favoritest shots in full 4x6 to be able to showcase them) Sometimes, I'll make a 4x6 collage with like 20-90 photos and use the tiny thumbnail photos as borders or embelishments.
By using using a lot of smaller photos, I have culled the need to do anything beyond 2 page layouts, and even then I've only done a handful of those.

This weekend we celebrated my dh's and his brother's birthdays at our house. Based on the pictures I will be making at least 3 2 page LOs if not more.
In the past, I have done many pages just of Christmas. Do whatever you need to tell your story.

I have a couple "events" that I did around 20-25 layouts. One was an adult Halloween party with karaoke and one was a 40th Birthday party. Back in the film days. I used seven rolls of film... 24 photos per roll x 7 rolls per event...so many great photos! I couldn't decide, didn't want to eliminate just for sake of less vs more. My general philosophy and attitude are.....it only matters what I think, what makes me happy, what I like (or lack thereof). I never worry about what anyone else thinks. So I used all the photos, and had many layouts. If someone doesn't like what I do or how I live my life, then they can feel free to excuse themselves from my life. Life too short, to worry about other people's judgement.
