Boy was it cheeseballs.
The message was solid but the screenplay was really hokey.

I am glad dh read the reviews before we went and clued me in. I completely lowered my expectations, pretended it didn't have anything to do with a book I loved as a child, and hoped to enjoy the cinematography and the costuming. I did really enjoy the costuming.
I had been looking forward to this movie for quite some time, so it was a bit of a bummer.
We have MoviePass and see at least one movie every week, often 2 or 3. I've become a little jaded lately and just not loving anything.

I’m rereading the book right now and am feeling that way about some of it. Some of the lines that characters say are just cheesy.
