It also meets regulations for international carry on. Again, I only ever carry on my luggage, whether I’m going for two days or a month, This is all I use. I hope you find something you love. store.ricksteves.com/shop/p/carry-on-backpackSounds like my MIL, one bag no matter what. Hawaii for a week? One bag. She made her family do it as well. Thank goodness DH didn't live at home and have to fall under her rules at the time because his shoes would take up almost the entire thing! Re Briggs & Riley pricing - I know, $300-$500 for a suitcase is insane! You'd think they were trying to solve world hunger, not sell you a bag to carry your crap in. I mean its a frame, material, wheels and a handle - let's be real. Anyway, they do have annual sales when they clear out their inventory and the sales are often 60% off, making the bags merely a splurge. And they do have a lifetime guarantee - one of our handles broke after 5+ years of heavy use and they replaced it with no questions. Below is a link to a couple Hey's bags, one of them is similar to one I have. I would recommend 30 inches based on what you described. I do think soft case will give you more flexibility based on the footwear etc that you mentioned but I've included a hard case as well. Hey's hard case - mine is similarHey's soft Right? If I was made of money I have no problem paying for quality, but with all of the pieces that we want that's $1500-$2000 for luggage and I have other things I'd rather spend it on right now. You're at least the 2nd pea who has shown me the Heys Brand, had never heard of them before. It's purple! LOL! Sorry it made me smile, purple is my happy color. I see it's a Canada site, I will see if I can find any locally to check out.

Do you have a Tuesday Morning store? It's been a long time but I bought my last couple of pieces from them at a good price. I keep forgetting that I've seen luggage there. If I could find two of the same that I liked I bet I could save a ton of money.

But it will be very rare when it happens and I'm boring so I'm thinking like a plain gunmetal grey or something. If I had my choice both of our cars would be the same color. And they're the same car just different model years! See, boring

CPAPs are medical equipment and do not count against your carry on allowance. Keep them separate and use the space in your carry on for something else. This. I travel with a small TravelPro wheeled carryon that fits under the seat. My CPAP case has a strap to slide over the extending handle. I have DDD and a herniated disk in my neck, plus RA. This is a very manageable set up for me when flying.

But good info to have, I will check our cases and see if they have the strap to fit over the handles. Carrying a bag is to avoided at all costs. Thanks!

I usually travel alone for work or the medical committee I volunteer with. It takes preplanning for packing and if I am checking a bag, only medications, valuables, and necessities go in my carryon. I like the four wheeled bags because I can walk it next to me much easier than dragging a bag. Last week I walked over half a mile through O’Hare each way on a trip and had no (added) neck issues. The rolling bag fits under the seat, saving the stress of lifting a bag into the overhead bin. I do put my CPAP in the overhead bin if using the under-seat rolling bag.

pridemom Yes, we went to look at luggage today and those spinners are fabulous. Loved being able to push it instead of drag it behind me. I'll let DH handle the lifting!

As for bigger bags to check, I am following this as our bags were abused horribly by airlines two summers ago. I found some nice Samsonite bags at TJ Maxx for $58 for 24” that would work well for our upcoming travels.

Today my favorites as far as function and quality were Briggs & Riley, but way too expensive. But this store only had 1 set of hard side Samsonite and the interior had built in compartments I didn't like so I need to check out other collections. I think tomorrow we are going to try Tuesday Morning. Good luck with your search!

I didnʻt know that so that will definitely come in handy. My hubby uses a CPAP and always brings it with him when we travel. Dewryce: I know you said you have back issues, but if anything, maybe do put your CPAP in a carry-on with the 360 wheels. I highly suggest you consider how you would do should your CPAP get damaged or lost during the flight, and if itʻs something that you cannot risk, carry it on with you. My hubby definitely cannot do without his so carrying it on is the only way he can ensure it wonʻt get lost. We do the same with my daughterʻs martial arts gear when we travel for tournaments. We cannot take the chance that it will get lost or somehow damaged. Also, regarding the 360 wheels, they make a HUGE difference and are so much easier to push around! I would never buy luggage without them anymore. As several other Peas have stated, I also get most of my luggage from TJ Maxx.

My only issue with hard sided is not having pockets/zippered sections on the outside. My Samsonite have held up really well- got them on sale at Kohls. 360 wheels really help. Marshalls/TJ Maxx usually has a good luggage selection. My niece had success finding luggage at Macys--pricing normally high- but the sales bring them down to a good price.

I love the Ebags Motherlode. I have the 21" and we did 2 weeks in Europe with this bag. We carried it on the plane going over, but had to expand it and check it coming home. I like it because it's hard sided on one side, but soft on the other side. It has compartments so you can separate your items. As I said, I was able to carry the bag on, so it's not huge, but it does come in larger sizes. www.ebags.com/product/ebags/mother-lode-tls-mini-21-wheeled-duffel/125538?productid=10362788My husband travels for business all the time, so this bag definitely handles frequent travel. And we could easily maneuver in train stations without the bag being super heavy.

Hopefully in a carry on with casters, but if it won't fit it's great to know that we can still board with them. Like you, we have sports equipment that has to make it to where we're going for my husband's triathlons. We can be naked, but he has to have his helmet, bike shoes and Tri suit My only issue with hard sided is not having pockets/zippered sections on the outside. My Samsonite have held up really well- got them on sale at Kohls. 360 wheels really help. Marshalls/TJ Maxx usually has a good luggage selection. My niece had success finding luggage at Macys--pricing normally high- but the sales bring them down to a good price. We never use the outside pockets, so lack of them is actually one of the draws for hard sided luggage for me. There is a good chance we are going to end up with Samsonite again if only because the other hard sided bags I've seen have a smooth surface just begging to be scuffed all to heck and back. I like the rough surface of the Samsonite bags. We have a couple more Pea recommended bags to check out, so it just depends on if I can find them. I love the Ebags Motherlode. Will go and check out the motherlode now, thanks!
