I’m pretty sure we’re just being punked at this point y’all.
Seriously?! You needed to teach us how to wrap a piece of ribbon around a notebook? And how to wrap a present? I’m all for life hacks. Truly love learning a new take on something—but wow.
Her Insta story.... I can’t look away. I watched thinking “ok surely I missed something” with a touch of annoyance that she doesn’t give her followers a little more credit. Im pretty sure most of us learned that knot trick in kindergarten when we learned to tie our shoes. She just gets more and more absurd. :eye roll:

Her desperation reeks. At first I felt bad for always snarking on her but she’s really just asking for it now. She’s trying so hard to be the next Joanna Gaines and the sad part is, she’s already kind of been that in the scrapbooking world. And she’s just shooting herself in the foot now.

Also, her business? What a JOKE. That office is nothing more than a bunch of dorky ass Mormon wives hanging out without shoes (that bugs me, don’t know why) posting pics of their fave earrings or ohemgee look at this pillow and let’s throw in a ribbon tying tutorial spread out over 300 stories to make it look like we’re accompliahing something every day.

12 IG Stories to shop us how to do a simple ribbon wrap around a notebook. The show goes on. Now she's going to show us how to wrap the notebook in that darn stone wrap paper. I'm so bored and I've lost count of the number of Stories at this point. I'm embarrassed for her. I truly am. This is thirsty product placement but nothing different from everyday BH IG Stories. She won't lose any followers over this. She won't gain any either. She's been stagnating at 80k for a while now. ETA: She does polls and gets overwhelming response that people want to see more SB-related posts rather than lifestyle but she's stuck. Project Life appears to have come at a standstill. She needs to overhaul the concept. Way (waaay) smaller kits, deluxe cardstock instead of the flimsy paper and 9x12 albums with the universal 3-ring system. She's still got some longevity in the concept as a business but the basic investment and work need to get done. I doubt it'll happen now they're officially no longer distributed by Michaels but there's still potential and she's got a loyal (albeit shrinking) crowd who are still willing to buy.

On this board we do talk about people in the industry and some of it is not good. Some of it is downright bad. There aren't all that many of these threads in a day so it is just as easy for you to scroll by.
We're not going to change and we don't expect you to either. But handslapping has never gone over well.

Tell me why joanns in the states is stocking online but makes it available for in store purchase only then makes both stores in my state excluded from the locations carrying it. I am irate. They keep pulling this shit. I am tired of not even one local store making their bs short list of carriers. I was so happy to FINALLY have access to square pl cards and got a giant FU instead.

Something new and a bit exciting. It's gotten so stale that I've resorted to memory planning... scrapaddict702 Sorry to hear of your PL kit woes. It's always been a (expensive) struggle for us outside the USA so I get your frustration. I'm not counting on BH to revamp the PL concept at this point. She let the beast slip through her fingers and doesn't look interested in capturing it again. Her loss (literally). I don't ask for much: - 9x12 albums with quality page protectors - nice "proper" white cardstock weight journal/filler cards with crisp printing - new sentiments (no more generic stuff, por favor, my stash overfloweth)

From Becky's email newsletter that just came out. Is memory keeping at the heart of what you do? Or just keep trying to keep us hooked that you might release something sometime
Ooh, old sketches as digital templates. Sketches are what made you a name in scrapbooking you couldn't come up with anything new to offer? Or a PDF book of them for those who still physically scrapbook?

amom23, I hope you don't leave the community just because you were called out on something that you called out first. Really, truly, I don't. We are a diverse bunch of peas, and we are not going to agree on everything. Personally, I don't believe in "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything." Imagine what the world would be like if we never expressed our true opinion. Whether a little or a lot, we all add some value to this board. I hope you don't decide to leave.

amom23, I hope you don't leave the community Did she say she was going to leave? I was suggesting she scroll past these threads but not leave the board. I have seen her post the same thing she posted today on similar threads about scrap celebs so I know how she feels. I absolutely agree that if we never say anything that someone thinks is negative then what do we learn from that? Maybe she just doesn't like the way it's said, but usually she chides us for a negative POV.

Is she talking about the sketches she did 15+ years ago? Those were a big help to me back in the day but styles and trends have changed. Her Creative Companion book had a lot of cardstock based layouts (we didn’t use much pattern paper back then) with tags and page toppers, usually in a linear format. I’d love it she released updated versions of her sketches.

artisticscrapper I don't think Becky has scrapbooked, in the way most of us scrapbook, in 10+ years. I would also love an updated version of some of her sketches but it probably won't happen. From what I've seen, her current "scrapbooks" are digital photos + a white journaling card with journaling. Not exactly groundbreaking. I've always found it odd that she doesn't use the products she creates and sells! She doesn't use her physical products at all and I rarely see her use any of the digital products. For me, not using her own products makes her less authentic. FWIW, I feel the same way about Amy Tangerine... she creates comprehensive scrapbook lines for American Crafts but never uses them! Shimelle uses her products (a lot!), and because of that I feel good about supporting her. I've purchased most of Box of Crayons, Shimelle, Glitter Girl, Little by Little, and Go Now Go. (Sorry to go off topic a bit.)

Totally OT but I can answer this. Joann's Online in the states is actually a company called Notions out of Michigan. They stock and ship various large retailers online sites. The retailer just puts their website on top of the Notions stock and Notions does all the stocking and shipping for them. Sorry about that back to the regularly scheduled Becky post....

I have to agree... WTH happened to her? I can't look away, but I really really want to!
I used to love her! I scrapbooked (well, still do), had her books, loved her style. I really like(d) PL too. I don't even care about the square vs round corners. LOL! I am her target customer. I just can't get behind her anymore.
Her IG stories are beyond ridiculous. They just go on and on and on. I can't even watch them. I watched a few about the ribbon tying yesterday, and was thinking OMG - really?! She needs to make her point in 1-2 stories and get on with it! No one wants to watch 20 stories about the same thing!
I love the idea of pocket page scrapbooking, and I do a ton. I just barely use her product anymore. There is so much better on the market. I also don't want to buy a kit with 10 of the same card over and over again.
I personally have no interest in the notebooks, signs, jewelry or bags etc she's selling now. If you want to do that, fine. But stop looking so desperate to sell it. I just saw today she was promoting a $25 deodorant. Seriously? It might be great, but that's not why I follow you.

I think it's great she wants to branch out of scrapbooking to lifestyle. More to her. Damn girl! Wow! We are going to the Goop direction now. Are you going to tell us how to potty next. The lifestyle industry is so saturated now what can Becky bring unique and different from the others that are out there? You have your religious lifestyle guru's already. Becky is very pretty but the beauty/fashion lifestyle industry is vicious and she doesn't have the emotional strength for that. A lot of people don't. Cooking? Um, noooo. Wrapping paper? No.... Journaling? Hell no. Heidi Swapp could dominate that market if she chose so. Trust me in my journaling communities Heidi is beloved. They are shocked when I talk about her scrapbooking. We do have big stars like Reese. Hi Reese! I know she read this site, lol. Even Reese would admit her line is doing ok but not like Jessica Alba or Goop. Blake Lively had to give up. Love Lauren Conrad. Reese, Lauren & Jessica all bring something unique. Becky just doesn't. I would love to see her do something where she could be the next big thing. Teaching us to wrap notebooks is probably not the best direction. The comment about stop bringing whole religion into this. Mormon's dominate the crafting market. For years all our scrapbook trends has been set by Mormon scrapbooking stars. Mormon's brought their religion into this market by choice. I had no problem with it. It was a different time then. Scrapbooking was important to Genealogy at the time. LDS has the largest Genealogy databases in the world. These two tie together. Nowadays religion does not play an important part in memory keeping like it did but stars like Becky are stuck in this dated mentality. It does deserve a discussion. Becky is lovely but she is dated. Talking about Family Science the other day was a big one. Made me embarrassed to be a major in it, lol. She does bring her religion into her lifestyle brand quite often. This is her direction. That is fine and should be encouraged to a point. She wants to be the Gaines. That is not happening. I was talking to an AOG friend the other day. I was told something very interesting. AOG's and Evangelical's feel like they have a pulse on the lifestyle market while scrapbooking belongs to Mormon's. Now see the business line of thinking in this with these two different religions. It's not supposed to be racism. It is who has a more known lifestyle for the things they are interested in. I hope all this made sense. You all know I have been under crazy amounts of stress. Hopefully, that will be lessening. Now, I just have "You just didn't do that!" kind of stress which makes me & my DH laugh.

I got to say that was a tad bit mean. I get it, I do. I am no longer a believing Mormon. Believe me, there are all kinds of people in the religion. I am surrounded by them. I'd have zero friends because I'm surrounded by a bunch of Mormon wives who overwhelmingly are not dorky asses. I truly hate how she mixes religion with business. ETA: Maybe it's because I've always lived in the blue collar type of congregations, that when the people I know that see this stuff will only buy it if they truly want to NOT because it's Becky and NOT because she is Mormon.
