Hey everyone, it's my first official thread for our fiber arts , woohoo! So happy and hopefully we will have lots of people participating because I love seeing everyones work. Here are my current WIPs (Works in Progress): Crochet: I started this pattern over the weekend , it will be a birthday gift for my mother in law who has a bday in October. Since I have never done a Granny Square pattern before, I thought it would take a long time, so I started early ; turns out, it is easier than I thought and I am whipping through it! Here is the link to the pattern, for anyone interested: Ravelry: Berry Season BlanketCross stitch: I haven't found a pattern yet, but I want to make this for my office: It is from Hyperbole and a Half. I just love that site and Allie's book, so this perfectly sums me up (on most days, hah!) And while not a fiber arts, technically, this is what I just finished up this weekend:It is a felt stocking for my BFF's baby who was born in April. The kit was back stocked so I didn't get it till late July and started around August 10th. Took me little over a month to do it, but I loved doing it. This is the third one I have made, the other two were for my niece and nephew. I covered any identifying names, sorry! I gave the mom the option to pick the theme and she went with Golfing Santa since her DH plays golf, cute OK, what is everyone else working on? Can't wait to see..

DaisyDoodles I love the berry season blanket, the colours look lovely together! The stocking is brilliant, love the golfing theme...it's going to make a beautiful keepsake! I made a couple of stockings last year and intended to do another one this year but I'm not sure I will have the time the way things are going. moosedogtoo Those Wonderland patterns are really neat, I will have to show those pics to my DD! I'm busy knitting some baby bootees when I get time, to go with tops and hats already done. Am hoping I will get them done fairly soon as they need to go international mail well before Christmas!! Will try to remember to take a photograph when all the sets are complete before they are posted!

BarbaraUK - I can't wait to see your bootie & hat sets, I am sure they are cute! I love to crochet baby things. Earlier this year I crocheted two Harry Potter themed baby blankets for a set of twins (their nursery is HP themed ). They were my first attempts at blankets and I think they came out pretty good : Slytherin: Gryffindor:

My soul needs to jump into a new project of some sort and yet I'm not excited about anything specific. Thanks to all for posting stuff on this account. think it is the hook I wish to pick up but for what? not sure. Problem is it is 2000 degrees (slight exaggeration) and the thought of yarn on me at the moment sounds terrible

I didn't really do much crochet over the summer because I live in TX and the last thing I need is a layer of thick yard on my lap. I am glad it has cooled slightly so I can start on my Christmas projects. I had lukewarm feelings on my hobbies for years, but after cleaning out my closet in my office, I found I had so much stuff that it was time I do something with it all and finish some WIPs I have and use this stuff up!

I'm still knitting dishcloths. I need to have about 24 done by Christmas and most days I can get one done. However my friends keep taking them so my stash isn't growing as fast as I'd like it to.

That is funny, Kathy! My MIL still has a couple of dishcloths that I gave her when DH and I first got married 13 yrs ago. She uses them as trivets.

I am still working on my washcloths with crocheted edges. I really want to pull out a set of cross-stitch napkins and placemats that I started about 20 years ago and never finished. I may do that after I finish this next washcloth.

Would it be helpful if I posted the sales for Michael's and Joann's on this thread that pertain to our crafts (like yarn, thread, etc.) ?

I love having this thread! My oldest DD requested a red and white afghan to use when she decorates for Christmas (candy cane colors), and I have 5 strips done using the old Annie's attic mile a minute strip technique...anyone else remember those? Although now I have found a pattern that has round motifs that look like peppermint candies, so I have a feeling the mile a minute will become mine because she will want the peppermint swirl This is the peppermint swirl afghan: I also have a friend that is downsizing to a townhouse, so I am going to transfer a photo of her current house onto linen, and using my silk embroidery ribbons to embroider her garden. Hopefully that will be done in time to be her Christmas present (fingers crossed!)

Sandie - That picture for your friend sounds like a lovely gift! Make sure to post pictures once you are finished I have seen that Peppermint Twist afghan on The Crochet Crowd website and thought about adding it to my TO DO pile for the holidays, does it work up pretty fast?

I really enjoy seeing/reading about what everyone is working on.
I'm knitting an afghan for my DH. The pattern calls for pretty large needles and knitting with 2 strands of yarn. It's working up pretty quickly! I'll post a picture when it's complete.

If anyone would like the peppermint swirl pattern, please let me know and I will email it to you. I have two different styles. Both patterns are "join as you go" but I will probably not do that to make it a more portable project and just do the motifs separately.

i60.tinypic.com/142amio.jpg[]"]Patch by Susan Claudino designs I don't knit a lot of toys but this guy was too cute to resist! I dyed all the yarn for him, too. I can't figure out how to get a pic to post so I hope the link works. That is adorable...the hand dyed yarns are gorgeous Liz. I'm a newbie crocheter (been crocheting about 10 months or so), so I haven't ventured into spinning or dying my own yarn!

I just whipped up a doll for my DD. It's supposed to be Ketch Secor from the band Old Crow Medicine Show. I'm currently working on a couple of blankets and a shawl. I'll see if I can find any pictures of my WIPs.

That is so cute, ddstratton. I don't know who that band is, but this little dude has peeked my curiosity to check them out. I started this blanket this past weekend and it is going a lot quicker than I thought it would! I just realized last night that I made a mistake on the first white granny stripe round and it is causing a weird wave in the lay of the blanket, but it's too late to fix it :/ Good thing my MIL loves anything I make her and won't judge, haha! This is what I get for working on a project while marathoning Doctor Who on Netflix

I have a business colleague who just took up knitting again as a hobby. Was wondering what kind of Christmas gift ideas I could build around this? She'd obviously have various needles to work with.
