Here is a link 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/622/ to yesterday's thread. It looks like we have a wide range of goals, experience, etc. I'll be going to the gym this afternoon with my friend. I'm going to do the second day of C25k, and then we are doing a strictly strength class. I don't have much experience with group classes, but my gym offers so many, and I promised her I would try some with her. What would you all like to see out of this group and be able to get out of this group? Also, does anybody know how to have just a word hyperlinked (from the app) instead of the entire URL? Link

I'm on vacation, so I'll be pretty low key this week. I'm planning to eat healthy and within my calorie limits and to walk on the beach for exercise. I went 3 miles yesterday; hoping to go a little further today.

Hi gals! I'm a long time member of the peas but haven't really been around much the last few years. But I've been around a bit more since the peas board closed. Anywho, I used to run the WW posts and I did WW for quite a few years and was successful with it. My weight loss journey started more than 10 years ago after I had my first baby. I was topping the scales at 350 lbs and needed to be able to keep up with ds. It's taken me a long time and quite a few attempts but I've lost about 130 lbs total. I'm at the lowest weight I've ever been as an adult and I'm about 40-50 lbs away from my goal weight. After gaining back about 20 lbs, in January of this year I started again. This time instead of WW, I'm just using MyFitnessPay and tracking calories. It's working really well and I like having it changed up a bit. So I try to eat between 1200-1400 calories a day. And then I try to get in some form of exercise most days. My dh has been super supportive and we've been taking family walks (the kids scooter and we walk) at least 3-4 nights a week. We just put in a small pool so I've also been getting some exercise in that way. And then I have a mini gym downstairs that I use for some weights (also have a treadmill, elliptical, bike and a bowflex) and when the weather isn't great. For me, my weight loss is 99% what I put in my mouth (or don't). I love food, I love to cook, I love to bake and I love to eat. But I'm finding it easier and easier to find balance...still being able to eat foods I love but in right portions and not all the time.

I'm on vacation and we're leaving for a rally early Thursday. My exercise this week is power cleaning the house. And I'm trying to find some snacks that I can pack that don't require cooling and won't melt in the heat.

Don't give up! When mine did that I would change up my workout routine and eat a bit differently for a week and see if that helped. Usually that meant upping my calories for a week by about 500. Then going back down.

When I get stuck or start to creep up, I go back to what works - keeping meticulous track of what I'm eating and ramping up my activity. I lost 1.6 lbs last week, partly because I walked over 5 miles every day at the convention I was at! And that was in spite of the hotel's farm to table buffet every day.

Honestly, until I figured out what my pattern for loss was, I was getting frustrated. I will have a big loss one week, small the next, back and forth. I would be so disappointed seeing the smaller number when I was doing the same thing. Now I'm just used to it and expect it.
I agree with the advice to change something up. Do a class at the gym a couple times, go for a run, just do something different.

mochi - thank you! It's so hard but the rewards are so great! kluski - try not to get too discouraged. I went 3 months without a loss and then boom, I lost like 4 or 5 lbs in one week!! It sucks when you're not losing but keep plugging away and you'll get there. For me, I find if I'm not losing I'm doing one of two things - 1) I'm not being vigilant with portion sizes and being honest with myself about what I'm putting in my mouth or 2) I'm slacking on exercise. For me to continually lose, I HAVE to do both vigilantly.

Hi everyone! I think it would be great to have a little group like this here! I have been doing WW since August 2013 and am 12.8 lbs away from my goal weight. I've lost for the past few weeks, and allowed myself to eat stuff I wouldn't normally eat on Saturday and am up now, but I am going to have a good rest of the week, eat carefully, go to the gym plus walk at lunch. It's killing me to be so close to the goal and I know it's probably going to take me several months to get there based on my current rate of weight loss.
I've been working out with a trainer for 2 months and have 1 month of that left. She's on vacation this week, so I have a new trainer, and think that will mix things up a bit which is always good. I'm really glad I did the trainer, it was well worth it because I have learned so much more about how to work out than I knew before.

I've been slowly plugging away and have lost about 5 pounds in the last month. Not too spectacular but a steady 1 to 1.5/week which seems to work for me.
My biggest thing is cutting down my fountain coke addiction. I am on week 3 of it. I have gone from drinking 2 a day down to 2 per week. To get my caffeine fix I have been brewing tea in the Keurig and bringing it to work. So far my favorites are the Lipton sweet tea and one my DH brought home, Diet Snapple Iced tea. The Lipton sweet is 50 calories per K cup, the Diet Snapple is 5. I haven't done the math yet on the calories I am saving by not having those cokes every day but I know it's helping!
My goal for the day is to keep tracking everything that goes into my mouth and also go for a walk tonight. I have been averaging 1-1.5 miles on each walk at a decent pace and this week I plan to up it to 1.75-2 miles. I want to start doing C25K but I need to build back up my endurance from walking first after some setbacks several months ago. I've created a homegrown pre-C25K which basically is walking 4-5 days/week and each week increasing the distance.

I was trying to get it like on peas where the actual word I type for it is hyperlinked so that the URL isn't visible. I may actually have to pull out my laptop to get some of this stuff set up. I do what Compawalla does, get back to tracking everything that goes in my mouth and just upping my cardio a bit, maybe 10 mins. longer if I can.
I know it's easy to say but just keep at it. If I'm doing everything right and I am not gaining any weight that is success to me. And if I've eaten more than I should and haven't worked out and am being honest with myself, then I know where the problem is.
I also take the one day at a time approach, although it's more like the one meal at a time approach. If I screw up one snack or meal, I just get right back on track for the next snack or meal. If it isn't a workout day but I ate too much, then it becomes a workout evening.
My goal today is to get all my veggies prepped for the week, that really helps me stay on track. And because it is so nice out I am going to walk down to the veggie market to pick up some produce. It's up hill all the way back so that is a bonus.

This may be strange, but when I hit a plateau, I find increasing what I eat for a week will jump start my weight loss. I may not lose or may go up a tad during the eating week, but then I start losing again. The body gets used to a certain calorie intake and sometimes needs to shaken up.
I will weigh in on Thursday this week because WW is closed on Friday. I know I will go over calories on Friday. I have been really good about alcohol intake so far this summer. But I will be drinking beer on the 4th. There is only so much discipline I can handle.
My goal is to get back to the weight I was on the day of my wedding. I have about 30 pounds to go. I would even like to dip under that if possible. I want to get lifetime at WW. I've come close, but never made it.

Sometimes I hit a plateau for a few weeks when I know I'm eating and exercising really well. Then Boom! The scale shows a loss of 6 lbs overnight. I think that as your body changes, it holds and releases water until it gets set to its new normal.
I had such a good run last night. I felt wonderful -- my heart rate never went over 151 after 30 minutes of running. I was just going slow and steady. Felt great. I had been struggling and tired for a week or two with this stupid Lyme disease.
I really liked the tip someone had yesterday on going with your personality in finding the program that works best for you. I tried WW a few times, but I never could make it work. I'd start focusing on food so much that it made me crazy and I always ended up gaining. I'm trying to make little changes in my diet and big changes with exercise now and having much more success.

One thing I had to stop doing was weighing myself too often. No more than once a week for me now. And as someone else mentioned, if my weight loss stalls, I write down every single crumb and drop that enters my mouth. It's all the little things that add up to weight gain.
I have lost 16 lbs. so far. I'd like to lose another 10. On a 5'2" frame, every pound adds up - and now that I'm over 50 plus having a non-functioning thyroid, it's been really hard to lose the weight.

Just wanted to update...I was suffering from a serious case of lackawanna today but I put in an hour workout and burned almost 400 calories. And I'm doing great with food today. Still need to get motivated to do more housework but I'll take what I can get.
