don I know this thread is older, but I just wanted to say I have had a lot of success with using shrinky dinks to make embellishments. They usually do fold on themselves, but the trick is to just leave them in the oven for a little while longer. This gives them the chance to flatten back out. Usually it takes about 2-3 minutes at 320 degrees. A video of the process

I make some embellishments and I buy some. I don't feel like I spend more when making my own embellishments. I haven't shopped in probably a year but have made quite a few different things. One of my favorites is the set of mini polaroid frames that I made for my Cameo. I saw Colie Bing make some on her manual die cutting machine and I knew I'd love them. I Googled and found the dies so I could create the same dimensions and now I use them all the time. I also use dings on my Cameo. Hearts, stars, Mickey ears, etc. If I see a set of word stickers like this that I like and want to use immediately I will type up similar or even the same words and print them out on cardstock or kraft paper and cut them out. Sometimes I use them on tabs, banners, circles, or popped up on a layer of chipboard. WithLoveBre on YouTube has some cute videos on DIY embellishments. So does Ashley Laura.
