@polargreen can I just say, you just suck at sucking! (i'd send you a card next year, too. assuming I don't lose the list) This is about people who have failed to send any cards year after year, which is not at all in the spirit of the swap. ok I do get that...but who's got time to keep track??? LOL and how can you know people failed to send any every year. we don't know who received from whom. (ie: maybe i've never got a card from so-and-so but others may have)

Thanks for the thanks. I have helped organize it for two years and haven't even had a chance to get in on sending/receiving cards yet (last year I broke my hip right after sign up but before i had anything done and this year I moved states) so I expect everyone to take a step back and come back next year when I'm hopeful I do not have any major life events going on. I was thinking about this and maybe it would be helpful if you can't send to all to mix up the order of labels a bit. I'm wondering if people near the end of the list feel it more than those near the top of the labels. Please breathe everyone...it is a stressful time of the year for all and after a few days, perspective shall set in for those that feel frustrated on both sides of the issue. Happy New Year to all! I’m sorry you’ve given so much to us and wasn’t able to receive the last two years!! I agree on mixing up the list. Last year I mailed out furthest to closest and know that I ran out of time and cards before I got to my local and west coast pea friends This year if I hadn’t made over 200 cards I would have mailed to the west coast first, just so they didn’t get missed twice

I have participated for the past several years and despite good intentions I have never made it through the whole list when sending out cards. I have absolutely no idea if there are some peas that I never sent a card to, I am not a spreadsheet keeper. I enjoy all the beautiful cards I receive and do my best to send out as many as I can. So for those keeping track, just because you have not received a card from me doesn't mean I don't send any out.

I send out my cards in order of location. Internationals, Alaska, Hawaii first, then the coasts/northeast/northwest, then southwest/southeast and finally flyover country. If you're in the midwest you're last since you're the closest.

I so badly wanted to participate in this card exchange, but didn’t do it because I knew I didn’t have time to make over 100 cards and get them sent.
I am going to do as others have suggested and start in January, making as many as I can each month so that I am prepared for 2019. I will be moving this year, but by planning ahead, I will be able to make it work.
With having no contact at all with my siblings anymore, and my son being very hit or miss as to whether he chooses to acknowledge me on holidays, I could really use some pea cards to keep my spirits up.
I think I will make a different card design each month to keep it fun for myself.

It's never expected to send to everyone...that's what has been said. Just hurts my heart that people complained about a "group" that gets on the list and then doesn't send any. I guess I just didn't have the time to track it all..some people have too much time on their hands if they are.. So send as many or as little.

I have never participated in the card swap. I’ve always been afraid of the one or two spreadsheetkeepers whom are up to no good. And I’m not talking about complaining people didn’t send cards no good. I mean the calling your workplace trying to get you fired no god it’s happened once or twice here.
Reason2 is I descend from quasi-hoarders and might never throw them out.
I love seeing the pictures of the cards here tho.
BUT that being said - I do have a good friend ( not here) who has had a valid serious family emergency the last 5 years.
1st year Her mom suffered a stroke mid October needed a lot of care then died. 2nd year Her child had emergency surgery then an infection & complications from surgery 3rd years lost her job 4th year had emergency surgery herself ended up in disability 5th year her dad was gravely I’ll and barely made it
Some people just have shit happen -and happen again.
For awhile there My family issues were every January.
Shit happens. Sometimes repetitively to the same people.
The rule has always been send how many you can, it’s the holidays- extend what grace you can
Just sayin

And just a thought since I see the 2019 already being batted around...
Perhaps a rolling thing might work so it’s not all at once? Maybe every so often you send card if any kind to a few peas at a time and work your way up down or sideways thru the list thru out the year??
I know it’d be easier for me( though I don’t participate so feel free to ignore me ) to send out like 20/month just on postage cost alone.
Yes, yes one could set aside the postage/month, I get that.
But then you get random pea greeting just whenever and you never know when your the card that picks a pea up when it’s needed.
Ok never mind me & my musings carry on
Thanks for sharing the pictures! I live that

Mine will hopefully all go out by Tuesday! It is much much later than I ever wanted them to go out but I have enjoyed every second of making them and getting them ready as well as receiving every single card from each of you! ♥ I got your card today, thank you so much!!!

I think the order of the list is already pretty random each year-- it seems like it ends up being in the order of signup. I say this because I somehow ended up right at the top this year (right under leowife, I think) and I don't think I was even on the first page last year. Or maybe I am misunderstanding the suggestion? Apologies if that's the case!

I feel like I contributed to the dust up by saying I'd noticed, but it's quite innocent actually and it seems to be causing hard feelings, so I'll explain in case it helps. The "group" is largely non US cards. I got 2 from Canada. I noticed because, like the last time I participated several years ago, I was looking forward to the envelopes and cancelled postage/postmarks that I like to use for decoupaged crap I gift to my friends. But a bit unfortunately, like the last swap, nada except from a couple Canadian friends - thank you! That's why they are a "group", and that's why it's fairly conspicuous to me. Like I said, they may show up this week and then I shall be back to say I suck and I was wrong. I got so many beautiful cards, I am not and did not complain, but I don't think I am an evil scorekeeper for noticing when I was kind of looking forward to them. I wouldn't have even remembered until I saw the note in the edited OP today. I hope that helps and makes sense. No judgement or recriminations for anyone; sending them and this thread are the best part. I'm not even doing the swap this year, but I want to respond to this post. The international stamps cost me around $3 each, which makes it ridiculously expensive to send to everyone, because with the exception of one other Aussie Pea, everyone was an international card. Last year I had the bright idea to start buying some stamps each month throughout the year, so I would have a decent stash by Christmas time. Unfortunately they don't sell the Christmas stamps until November, so if I was going to start buying them earlier I would be paying $1 more per stamp. Therefore last year I only sent about 30 or 40 cards, and I mainly sent them to people who I "know" better than others and who I interact with more, and a few others thrown in. This year I decided not to join in because I wasn't in a position financially to spend that kind of money so close to Christmas.

Truthfully, I’m always pleasantly surprised when I get a card from an international. I know how damn expensive postage is outside the US. So please, int’l peas, sign up, I’d love to send you cards with no expectations of a return.

No judgement or recriminations for anyone; sending them and this thread are the best part. I didn’t send as many as I would have liked (I sent 40 US and 15 international) I, too, am still hoping to receive from interesting corners of the world, and I’ll admit I felt quite worldly when I dropped off my stack of US cards and “had to” have the Post Office lady help me with my stack of cards going to 5 different countries. 😊 I did receive the worlds cutest bear card from an Aussie, and a few Canadian scrappers cards mailed from this side of the border (totally get it! International postage is expensive!) Did I or would I complain? No! I had greatly enjoyed every card sent and received! Did I keep a list? Absolutely not! And obviously I didn’t get to send to everyone, but I thought that was ok? This is my first year, and I do hope to be a part of this swap next year! It was so fun! For any spreadsheet keepers (or facilitators stuck listening) I changed my Pea screen name after the spreadsheet went out. I also thought spreadsheets weren’t being kept, so I “signed” my new name... not the one on the spreadsheet.. although the return address and name matched the spreadsheet and I signed our real names in addition to screen name..

Postage from Canada to the US is 1.20+ tax (=1.36) each. I buy the forever international stamps and I believe they cost me about $1.25 American. They can be used to send mail to Canada or overseas

I'm another international pea who didn't send to everyone on the list. I aimed for about half once I figured out postage to everyone would cost me just under $300. I will admit I am keeping a list of who I sent cards to and who I have received them from as I want to make sure to send cards to any pea in the 2019 swap who sent me a card this year and did not receive one in return. This was my first time and even though I don't consider myself a card maker I have loved making, sending, and receiving so many cards. I have never been so excited to check the mail every day

The post office must surely have been wondering what I was up to when I requested 65 international stamps, and just 5 local Christmas card stamps.

I think I sent about 60 cards out. I did all of Canada, as I'm Canadian. I sent to all International.
And chose one name from each state who signed up.
I addressed until I ran out of cards and postage.
I received a lot of cards. Just counted I received 60. Definitely not 130 but I was grateful for all that I received.
I really enjoyed it and will sign up again next year.
Stamps are going up again in Canada this year another 5cents so I will start hoarding postage now.

I mailed to all Canadians on the list and randomly selected as many US as I could afford to send to. I was able to send out more this year than last but in no way was I able to send to everyone due to my limited budget. I'm sorry if anyone is upset. I'm grateful for all of the cards that I have recieved.
Thanks for the heads up on the postage increase in Canada. I will be sure to start stocking up as my budget allows.

Another international here - and just like Australia our international letters/cards from New Zealand are $3 each so the cost can really mount up. I would have loved to sign up for the swap this year but it didn't work out. However, I do hope to be able to participate in 2019. I'm going to try and make cards throughout the year and also like AussieMeg 's idea of stocking up on stamps through the year to try and spread the cost a bit. I doubt though that I'll be able to send to everyone on the list given the likely total cost.

Another international pea from Australia - oh yeah our postal rate is horrendous and to send out 130 cards is just too much in December and it is not worth buying stamps during the year as we only get the reduced rate ($2.70 normally but Christmas mail is $2.30 each letter/card) so it still costs a lot for that amount of cards.
I love receiving the cards and thank those who have send them to me. I look forward to the 2019 swap.

Okay ladies, here's the deal... BAN me from ever signing up for the card swap again!!! I am a shame to the name Pea! Last year I was so mad at myself, I think I only got, barely if even, cards mailed to half the list. This year it's a big fat ZERO so far. I'm working late all week because we are off for two days. If work is not done by the time I leave on Friday, I have the kind of boss who expects you to come in on the holiday to finish. And there is no way I am working on Christmas! Then with holiday parties and cleaning and cooking, I know i'll never get them done and sent. 😥 All your cards are so awesome and it's so nice to come home to them. I promise I signed up with good intentions, but now I'm a PeaFraud! I'm sorry!!!! I don’t think it’s a big deal. We mail what we can. I mailed to half and tried to get as many international peas as I could. Next year Instrive to do better!

So I am curious as to how anybody can say that the international peas sign up but never send cards? How can you know what everyone else received?
So does this group of however many complainants there are, liaise with each other ? Even if they did, that’s not proof unless they’ve asked everyone on the list if they got a card from overseas. Very curious, and just vague enough...
