I really need more sleep because I read "eyes" and not ears. Anyway, My Grandmother did. She didn't have any problems.

I went with my friend's daughter when she had hers re-pierced. She was told she can only have it redone 2 times because after 3 piercings the ears are too difficult to pierce. If the ears in question didn't pierce well the first time, I heard it could be because the posts are too short, so ask for extra long posts at the time of piercing.
Paige.

I haven't had it done, but I'm thinking about it. Mine closed up years ago... Now my DD hadn't worn earrings in a year or more and we thought her's had closed. Went to have them redone, and only one was closed. They were able to put the earring through the other ear with no problem, and only had to repierce one. She hasn't had an problem with them. She's 15 now, and was about 12 when we had them re-done. She was about 6 when they were first done.

I went to get them repierced but ended up just having the holes reopened with hoops and a lot of lube. It didn't hurt much and I had to keep the hoops in for a month.. but without the typical piercing aftercare.
ETA: I went to a proper piercing shop, not some untrained mall store that uses the now illegal piercing guns. So it would have been a properly done. Wouldn't trust the people at places like Claire's with something like this.

I had my ears pierced when I was 12. One of them was not straight. So we went back to the place that did them and they said I could let it close up and have it re-pierced. So I let them close and left them for a year or more. When I re-pierced them there is scar tissue (??) inside the one ear. It has never been comfortable for me to wear earrings. I finally gave up trying to wear them when I was in my early 20s. If I pinch my one ear lobe gently it just feels soft. The one that has always bothered me feels like it has a hard part inside the lobe. Nothing shows but I could never comfortably wear earrings after getting it re-pierced.

I pierced my mother's ears, then she decided she didn't want to have pierced ears - because it looks "trashy" (the same woman who said my Dd looked like a street walker when she had a small diamond stud in her nose). Well, I guess she wanted the trashy look because a few months later she asked me to pierce them again. I did, but told her that was the last time. (my SIL started to sell Premier jewelry about that same time... seems that Mom was going to get some free earrings, but they were all for pierced.... that woman is a piece of work)

Are you certain they have closed? I've gone for 15 years without earrings at times and the openings have become tight but they are still there. Try putting the eye end of a needle through them.

No problems. But my third holes seem to want to close up if I don't have earrings in them for a day or two even after almost 20 years. So I wear a small captive bead ring in the second and third holes and wear my regular earrings in the first. Or I switch out the CBR for a stud if the rings don't look right with the other earrings.

I've had one ear redone twice. I have tiny ear lobes and the back of the earring would show. So I let them grow closed and then had them redone.
The second time was about 10 years ago. I had stopped wearing earrings when DS was a baby because he wouldn't leave the earrings alone. They closed up and I eventually had them redone. Now I just wear earrings 24/7.

That's so weird. My left ear just closed up. One of the backs of my diamond studs came loose and I haven't gotten it fixed. I just left my earrings out. When I tried to put them in yesterday the left was closed over. I got a pin to push it through but couldn't find the courage. I guess I'll just go to Claire's and have them do it.

Funny you should bring up this topic. I was just talking to my daughter about getting the second hole in my left ear re-pierced. I think I will get it done this weekend. What do they use now if the guns are illegal?

I went to Claire's a few years ago and had mine redone. If I had it to do over I would go somewhere more reputable. Both of mine are now too low, one more than the other.

My daughter sort of did. She wore hoops that were very thin wires for a long time and one slowly cut through her ear. So when the earring fell out, there was a slit in her ear and it was all healed up. It freaked me out-it looked like a split tongue would. She had to have it sewn back together (and he had to cut the healed part first) so once that healed, she had that ear repierced. We went to a body piercing shop for it and she has had no problems with it.

Mine closed up about 8-10 years ago. I am prone to keloid scars so I was very afraid to get them redone. I went around to a couple different places and asked about it and got mostly met with blank stares. Oddly enough I wound up striking up a conversation with the lady at the jewelry counter in Walmart and she told me they do ear piercings. I think I cringed. But then she started talking about her own issues with keloids and she really knew what she was talking about. I had her repierce them right through the exact spot the original holes were (they still looked like holes, you just couldn't get anything through them) and she did it perfectly. I had a couple issues with being allergic to the cheapo metal in the studs so I switched them out after a week for sterling silver ones I got at Target. No problems at all after that. I am so happy I got them redone!
ETA: The holes were closed for between 8-10 years. I just got them re-pierced this year.

I did it myself. I took my earring and shoved it through the hole. I hadn't worn earrings in 10 years or more and they had closed over. It hurt for a couple of days and then I have been problem free ever since. (That was 5 years ago). It hurt a little bit but not bad at all. If you have fat earlobes like I do it is pretty painless...just afterwards kind of hurts. But on a pain scale it's about a 2. So just a little bit.

My DD had to get hers re-pierced after they closed up. The woman who did it said not to let them close up again because you can really only get it done twice due to the amount of scar tissue. It wasn't any more painful than the first time from what DD said.

Sharla, the lady that I spoke to at the jewelry counter at Walmart that re-pierced my ears said that you have to be very careful to pierce through the original hole. If you do that it will be ok, if you create a new piercing you run the risk of a keloid. I had her do them exactly through the original holes and haven't had any trouble with it wanting to form a keloid. I could tell she got them in the right spot and they healed up much faster than a totally new piercing would have.

The worst mistake I did was repierce my closed ears. *DO* tell! chaosisapony I have keloid issues as well! When I was 12 my ears pierced. I went to a jewelry store. the lady did the piercing with a needle and cork. They didn't hurt and I had no problems with them. I could wear any kind of ear rings. fast forward to 6 years later. I was in beauty school and we were learning to piece ears. So.... I decided to get a second hole. Which was fine. they worked. Healed great. Then about 3 months later I decided to get a third hole.... I only made it on one ear.... There was no way I was going to let anybody near my other ear. The ear ring lasted 5 days. i couldn't take the pain any more. I took it out. let the hole close. Fast forward another 5 years. Yes I had 5 years of great ear ring wearing. I loved my ear rings and had a very large collection. I got pregnant and had my first baby when I was 23 and I made the biggest mistake of my life. I took my ear rings out and didn't put any back in. For some reason both hole closed. I think it was 2 years I didn't wear ear rings. I thought they had been pierced for so many years I would be fine. But I should have put studs in and wore them. After the 2 years I didn't wear ear rings I decided to put ear rings in... I couldn't get them in the first holes but it was painful and I couldn't get them in the 2nd holes. I did finally get the first hole to open again by wearing the beginner studs for a few weeks. but they HURT LIKE HELL! I managed to wear ear rings for another 10 years but I could only wear the smaller lighter weight ear rings. That meant I had 3/4 of my collection that I couldn't wear. After I had my third and last baby I decided to wear my studs so hopefully my holes would have a problem. Then one of my ears got infected and I had to take them out. I hated that... It hurt like HELL! in all the years and stupid things I did to my ears I still never had them infected until then. I don't recommend that to any body. While I had the ear rings out healing my ear the holes closed and I just said screw it. Wasn't worth the pain. when my youngest was 6 months old I had her ears pierced. This was the best thing I did for her. She loves her ears pierced and she grew up learning how to take care of them and the only problem she has is she has to wear really good quality ear rings. The cheap costume jewelry she can't wear. she is allergic to it. When my daughter was 5 I decided to repierce my ears. Well. I went done to a store and had them done. They hurt like HELL! and I did deal with it for a few weeks but my ear got infected again. I decided I couldn't take it any more. I mean it got so infected I had to go to the doctor to get the ear ring out. I had done everything possible to keep them clean and healthy. but for some reason my ears rejected the ear rings and my holes had to be let close. It has been since 1997 that I have given up on my ears. you can see the scare tissue bump I have on each ear. Feeling it feels weird. And I still get crusty stuff on my left ear every so often. I thought it was something bad so I went to the doctor again. She said it was from the ear piercing and the scare tissue and infection. I wish I still had my ears pierced I love ear rings. I loved wearing them. but that part of my life is gone. If you do get them done again do not have them done by the gone. I would go to a body piercing place and have them do it. They are very knowledgeable in piercing and they will do it with a needle.
