I was wondering if any decision has been made about putting the challenges in a separate thread/forum. It's very time consuming to find the other threads when they get buried under all the challenges, and my time is really limited these days. I find that I'm not participating as much, since it takes me too long to actually find other topics.

We would love a separate challenge forum but I don't think admin ever responds to requests? admin could we get a challenge forum please?

A separate forum would be great! The challenges are fun, but they do take up most of the first page at times.

I think the challenge organisers tried having most of the challenges in one thread and that is helping somewhat - September was an anomaly with the daily sketch threads (we have daily card threads in October but they are on the card and stamping board)

A separate forum would be great. Hope that happens.

That idea sounds great. Easy for people who want to do challenges to find them all in one spot and easy for people who don’t!

I would agree. Having said that, please know that I love that the challenges are here and that they are motivating! I certainly don't want to take that from anyone! I too though have found myself not participating on the boards as much lately because I have to scroll through everything to find the non-challenge posts (though there haven't been many of those lately).

Would love to have a separate sub board, but my superpowers don’t cover that. Hoping admin agrees and has some time to set one up.

I wish you did have the powers grammadee! Maybe admin could give you some more power around here, that would be fantastic!

I agree, there seems to be less general discussion, perhaps because those threads get lost in all of the challenges.

I agree, there seems to be less general discussion, perhaps because those threads get lost in all of the challenges. Agree 100%. There are so many more challenges than there used to be, and it's very hard to just find regular threads. I know the challenges are great but I hope admin will consider putting them in a subforum.

This. I’ve stopped checking in so much because the challenge threads overwhelm the board. Maybe some others are feeling the same which is why there has been less non-challenge posts. No disrespect to anyone of course - the challenges are brilliant, I just don’t participate in them and prefer the general chit chat threads.

I would like a separate place for challenges. I pop in at work for a quick peek and it is hard to wade through the challenge threads.

I agree 100%. This would benefit those participating and those who are not participating. Please consider this admin.

I agree as well, would make it much easier to see what is going on. I love that so many are active in the challenges, it just isn't something I participate in.

They're a great idea and I hope to participate one day. But I have really limited coming to this board because of the quantity of the challenge threads on page 1.

When this was originally requested, the thought was to at least have a Challenge tag, like the Politics tag on NSBR. I agree that the time has come for a sub-board for Challenges. Hopefully admin will help us out I do see that the regular October challenges have been "stickied" to the top. I wonder how overwhelming this all is for admin, and if anyone stepped in to help her manage the board as she requested a while back.

I would love a challenge board. But for clarification only about half of the posts on the first page are challenges - 17 of 31 right now.

I'd love a subforum for challenges.
I know I haven't been very active on the board because I feel a bit overwhelmed by challenge threads. No offense.

I hope we can find a solution that works for everyone and that makes everyone feel welcome because I hate to see people staying away

lindaIt's not that I don't feel welcome, but challenges are more than I can handle right now. It would be fun to dip into a subforum when I need inspiration from a challenge thread. But since I don't participate in challenges, I have nothing to add to them. I like gs threads where I can add my two cents.

I can certainly see that the challenge threads can be overwhelming to those who aren't participating - you (in general) are always welcome to swing into one and comment on the shared layouts if you so desire. It WOULD be nice to have a subforum where all the challenges can be together. I do think that given a few more days - the Sept. sketch threads will drop off the first couple of pages and the ratio of challenge to non-challenge threads should improve. (the daily challenge is on the card forum this month - so no daily challenge thread here in Oct - just the monthly ones that are here every month). And perhaps that's something the challenge organisers need to consider in the future - daily challenges WERE fun but do overwhelm the board more than the monthly ones do. Any ideas on how to combat that grammadee kiwigirl stinkerbelle?

I agree.. last few times on here seems like I had to scroll through a lot of the challenges (which are great) but I am not participating in them at the moment. But whatever.. it has cut my time down here on this side even more cause I thought there just wasn't as much activity other than the challenges.

I would love a challenge board. But for clarification only about half of the posts on the first page are challenges - 17 of 31 right now. Yes but they all have quite repetitive names - the word October and Sketchtember is all I see right now when I go on that page. So when I quickly scroll through on my phone, it means all the other threads get lost.

We all totally appreciate that it's annoying to people who aren't participating in the challenges.

I still think a separate board would make the GS page REALLY slow. I still prefer the label like on the Politics threads. it helps identify the threads, but doesn't take away from the GS traffic. Just my opinion.

Hopefully admin will help us out I do see that the regular October challenges have been "stickied" to the top. I wonder how overwhelming this all is for admin, and if anyone stepped in to help her manage the board as she requested a while back. When admin asked for volunteers to moderate the SB board, I volunteered, and a few months ago, she asked me if I would be able to do that. My moderator "powers" are pretty limited, but I have been able to edit her stickied posts so that the challenge stickies (as well as the one for crops and for the LSS's) are up to date. If she sets up a Challenge sub board I would be more than happy to moderate it. One of my powers is that I can move threads from one board to another, so I could even move challenges that happened to end up in the wrong place into that sub board. I'm not sure the Challenge tag would work (and that is another function that would have to depend on admin) for the people who are NOT looking for a challenge, b/c on months when we have lots of challenge activity that would even make the non challenge posts that much harder to notice. It's really important to me that all Peas feel welcome here, whether they are in a flurry of trying to keep up with challenges or not. I love scrolling through to see people's comments on the scrappy world, nicolep's previews of new lines, people's shopping hits and misses, all of it. I think that if we have a challenge sub board, the SB board will come up first anyway, so people looking for challenges will get a preview of what is being talked about today before they head off to share their latest creation or check out the latest challenge. And everyone else could go about their regular scrolling, commenting, catching up. Hoping we can come up with something that will keep everyone coming back and enjoying themselves here, b/c community is what it's all about.
