We had an above ground pool put in this summer and finally are finishing the phase 1 deck and landscaping around it. We've only had nights and weekends to work, and factoring in our busy sports schedule and very uncooperative MI weather this summer/fall, it's taken forever. Now I am so craving to do inside projects like paint the kitchen cabinets, redo the backsplash and the bathroom one too, replace fireplace tile.. I've never done tile and I really want to. But, we've had unexpected vet expenses come up for our 2 dogs and now I have time, but no money. So, let me live vicariously thru you? I also realized I have no pics of our pool/deck project, I need to get some.

Um, so many. Weāve been working on a full-house remodel for the last two years, and we are really trying to wrap everything up by Christmas. As a result, I have half-finished projects everywhere, a stack of tile in my living room, another stack of tile in my kitchen, and a new bathroom vanity in my dining room. (The sink for that is in my hallway, of course.) This week, weāve been working on flooring in my sonsā bedroom. Before: Current:

We are really close to finished in the pantry. We sprayed the trim, baseboards, and crown molding while we were painting the boysā bedroom, so they are ready to install... just trying to get them back into their room before we put them up. Before: After:

Before: After: I am in love with your pantry! we have a large pantry, but it's all wire shelving and spackled holes.. I long for it to be pretty. do you have a link you could share for the tile? your son's bedroom looks so different now!

I built this wine rack. It's right next to my kitchen. I bought the 3 sections and then revamped them to work in the space. It goes from floor to ceiling, 4 feet wide. 176 bottles. Challenge. accepted. I also got tired of this closet and rebuilt it all myself - except for the doors which my son made. Before. Wasn't it horrible? who makes 6 foot closets with 2 foot doors anyway??? After. A million times better! This is in my laundry room which is an extra bedroom we never used. This winter we have to work on the master bath. I have plans to also revamp the back entry (where the washer/dryer was) and build a bookcase which I have the wood for but I've been working on other projects I have to get done by Christmas!

I love your new pantry. Where did you get the jar that says "junk food"? I really like that. I might have to buy one.

No pictures, but dh likes to do an outdoor project each year.
Last year he built a firepit. This year he made a paver patio. We also started container gardening and we are looking forward to adding more colors this spring.

Gennifer, I can't get over how big your son's room is. And that window is beautiful. The pantry, ah that pantry, it's lovely. It is really big, but my house only had two āofficialā bedrooms, even though itās almost 4500sf. We converted the office to a third bedroom, and my two boys (10 and 15) share the bonus room above the garage.

We revamped our stairs during the summer. Ā Replaced the spindles with glass and put in extra storage. Carpeting should be finished next week OMG! That looks amazing. We have a couple of staircases on our list, and checked into glass, but decided that with a St. Bernard, it probably wasnāt the *best* choice. I think we are going to do horizontal plumbing pipe. Did you replace the handrail and bottom piece, or just fill in the holes from the spindles? And, if so, how did you manage to refinish it to that gorgeous color? I want to match ours to our floors, but I donāt know if I can get it there! Any tips?

I love your new pantry. Where did you get the jar that says "junk food"? I really like that. I might have to buy one. Iāve had it for a long time... maybe 8 or 10 years? We sold them in our restaurant, and the manufacturer was either Ohio Wholesale or Kennedyās, which are sister companies. With the popularity of farmhouse style, Iāve seen lots of these enamel vintage-style canisters around lately... some with ābreadā on them, and some plain. If you could find something similar, and you have a vinyl machine, you could add it.

My dh is retiring from the Army, so we just bought a house close to my Mom's house. (30 minutes) So, we are painting, flooring, bath rooming... Are you keeping the checkerboard floors? I sort of love them!

I sort of love them! Well...It looks good in pics...but it is OLD laminate and it is yellowed from age. We will keep them a while until we start our big kitchen renovation, but then I am picking something else. LOL...It bothers my eyes. It's bizarre, but I feel like it is moving. HAHA!
