i would start or supply a lot of early reading programs in poorer areas. my sister and i did this a few years and sent large boxes full of books to a struggling elementary school in another country. i would love to do this again but on a larger scale.

I have these little daydreams often when I run into a stranger I'd like to help. A new car when I see someone broken down on the side of the road in a vehicle that has seen better days, a couple who frequently sit outside on their dilapidated porch would get a house makeover with a great porch and comfortable seating, medical bills paid for the mom in front of me at the doctors office worried she won't be able to afford the imaging her daughter needs...I'd be really good at being rich. And not rich for long

My adult dd and I dream of opening an affordable assisted living home. One that has awesome activities that the residents really want to do and one that only hires people that actually care how our elderly friends and loved ones are treated. We have experienced much heartache in the past with the way our loved ones were cared for and my dd that worked in one was appalled by the way some of her coworkers treated their charges. Enough so that she had to leave because the behavior was accepted by the management and she couldn't take another second of it. We wish we could afford to do it without a big win, but it's just not something we can afford to do without one.

Start a grocery chain in food deserts. Daycare for the workers with sick child daycare. Gardens for fresh veggies and herbs. A delivery van. A community kitchen for those who need a place to cook. Classes on how to cook with a hot plate and microwave. Free containers for bulk food.
And absolutely no premade box meals. No candy , no chips ,no soda. No tobacco , No alcohol( except for recipe size) It’s my store and I can do what I want.

And not rich for long I think that's how I would do it also - helping individuals with random acts of kindness....smaller things too - like leaving 200% tip for a waitress or buying cases of GS cookies from a local troop and donating to a soup kitchen or food bank or buying for the angel tree or doing Christmas/Thanksgiving for a needy family.

I would randomly help people like my current self (meaning people who pay their own way, don't get any handouts, every time you really think you are getting ahead "shit happens" >> car troubles, sick and miss a week of work, eye glasses break, cat get sick, something in the house stops working, etc...). It's always something. So many times I thought, I wish the money fairy would just once leave me a one time >> $100, $1000, $3000...it would makes all the difference in the world, at that moment in time.
But, alas, there is no money fairy. In fact I think I would call it(charity, foundation, etc...what that kind of thing is called).... "The Money Fairy". I would also include random gifts to paying their own way College kids, students raising money for an event(choir festival out of town), someone who is having car issues over and over, a grocery gift card to a family in need, a donation to someone who experiences a suddenly loss(funeral expenses), randomly pay for people's meals in a restaurant, leave random large amount tips for the food server, etc... Just random donations to people.

I would like to own a couple of properties in my area that visiting scholars or clergy or seminarians or other people who need a hand could just live in free of charge for a period of time. We are always asked through our church if we have a spare bedroom for this or that and I would love to just have a place to lend.

If you won a big jackpot and took care of all your immediate needs and family’s needs how would you help someone unrelated to you? I would re-open our small K-6 Catholic school and fund it forever.

I would donate lots of money to a local organization that I volunteer with that helps educate + fund prenatal care for Somalians that are refugees in my city. I would also donate a bunch to another organization I work with that helps woman who are trying to get clean and get their life together. The women get a home + daycare + food while they get on the job training and learn how to adult responsibly.

I want to do a homeless outreach program for those with untreated mental illness. I want to try to get them the treatment they need, housing, jobs, counseling.

Its getting close to a billion. I would give out scholarships. Help orphanages in poor countries. Start some non profit. Produce, publish, campaign for all my causes-childhood literacy, homeless vets, endangered animals. Would personally go after that bitch in China responsible for the ivory trade. Buy lots of art. Meet and network with important people.

Unrelated to me - I’d love to build and run a home for senior dogs from shelters to be able to live their last years in comfort with lots of love and attention. I’d like for the home to be large enough that I can visit my local shelters each week and adopt all the senior dogs.
Related to me - I’d love to pay for ALL of my nieces and nephews and ALL of my cousin’s children and grandchildren to go to the college of their choice. (And I’ve got a lot of cousins as my mother was the youngest of 14!)

Scholarships for local kids, including some for kids with lower GPAs and those going to trade schools or to get a certificate.
Buy a car for a fellow teacher that works two jobs and still can't really afford cars for both her and her husband (who also works full time). They alsalso have a kid the same age as my youngest and they will be driving in 2 years, so I might buy him a car as well.

I would really like to go to the holiday angel tree with about a week left to go and grab all the remaining tags. There are always two large wicker baskets with extra tags, beyond the ones they hang on the tree. I seem to recall the tags mostly being for children, but for the last several years, there are also tags for the elderly and middle aged.
And then we'll have a pea get together somewhere.

I would start a community space for special needs adults. I would start a business that would employ special needs, and buy homes in walking distance that would be a nice semi-independent place for them to live. Finding a job and independent living for special needs adults is very difficult. I would love to be able to make a difference there.

I messaged my hubby on his business trip to make sure he bought a few—I had Chinese food for dinner tonight and my fortune read: “You will soon find yourself financially comfortable” 😁

I would help the seniors in my town with home maintenance. The lady across the street from us could use a new roof, she would be first Our town is booming and our seniors are being priced out of it, so they would be my priority.

I follow a lot of animal (mostly cat) rescue groups on IG! What’s weird is that 90% of them (that I follow) are in NY or NJ and I’m in Las Vegas. I did a donation thingy on FB for my birthday to a guy that rescues and TNR’s cats in Astoria, NY. He’s my hero (they all are really) and I would donate a lot of time and money to them. 🐈 🐕 🐇 🐄 🐐 🐖 🐎

I have one brother that I'd make sure never wanted for anything again, then the rest would go to cat sanctuaries.

I think after the obvious giving, to church or charity, friends and all that kind of stuff.. just something 'fun'....
probably help a neighbor or two with their houses..probably pay off or something like that. Especially one gal who we look after each other.. her hubby died in April and mine is on the road, so we look out for each other.
We are getting new roofs on our duplexes right now and there are a few people who didn't have the correct insurance coverage. I think I would pay their portion. I don't know these people and wouldn't let them know who did pay.
And then probably just some random act of kindness... maybe pay the local Walmart layaway's for the Christmas season.. something like that...here or there.
Edited to add, I would love to help people who aren't necessarily in poverty (I mean I wouldn't ignore that either) but that forgotten middle class.. that can't get any help because they 'make' too much money but not necessarily living in a shack.. just people who work hard that just can't seem to get help when needed. Like for myself, I am not struggling (anymore) but could use help here or there.. like windows for my house. I don't have $10,000 to replace just 8 windows but yet I don't qualify for any assistance either. So that caught in the middle thing. I would love to randomly help people like myself here and there...
