Waaay back in the early 70s, had a super teenybopper crush on a kinda famous rock star that faded. I mean lots of pics in my room, etc, like Paul McCartney to me.
I saw him maybe 8-10 times into my early 20's, then I last saw him at a small venue in 2007 and I didn't realize that he basically had no voice. He was just eh.
Well, I'm going away in a few weeks, happened to look at his site (I look at it a couple of times per year) and he's playing at a small place about two miles from my hotel (if I was 15, my heart would be going pitter patter!!)
So, this guy is now in his 70s. Would you go see him again as a "last hurrah"? Or should I just remember how he was almost 50 years ago.
BTW he hasn't aged well (and neither have I)!!

Heck yeah! My first celebrity crush was David Bowie. I would have jumped at the chance to have seen him at any point in concert.

Seriously, if it is only two miles from your hotel, why not?

I loved Styx and Tommy Shaw as a teeny bopper. I saw Styx for my birthday about 5 years ago and when they began playing the opening to Too Much Time on my Hands, it didn't matter that we had both aged 30 years.

LeaP is right, we have to know who it is before we can really answer your question. Are the tickets prices affordable?
My teen heart throb was Donny Osmond. I'm not sure if I'd go see him perform. Honestly, I'm just not that into him anymore.

I would totally go. I go twice a year to these 80s alternative concerts and they are always a blast. For the most part, the voices have kept well.

Yes!
I saw Rick Springfield about 12 years ago. Paging Dr Noah Drake-General Hospital. LOL!! I wish John Denver were still alive. I loved him. I saw him when I was 11 or 12.
I heard that Ambrosia still tours occasionally, would love to see them.

What are these 80s alternative concerts that happen twice a year? I've lived in So Cal for 25 years and I haven't heard of this!? I must live under a rock.

Honestly, I'm just not that into him anymore. A couple years ago, two co-workers went to a Donny Osmond concert in Las Vegas because they loved them as teenyboopers. They enjoyed the concert and time in LV.
I vote "Go to the concert."

I’m not sure if this is what Garcia5050 is referring to, but search for Lost in the 80s. There’s usually 7 or 8 80’s band and each play a few songs- generally the only hits they ever had-lol. www.bandsintown.com/a/253531-lost-80's-live And OP, definitely go.

Depends... Sometimes those dreams are best left untarnished. If they're still 'current', and have that 'certain something' in the way only certain big names do then yes, why not, but if they've been off the scene for decades and suddenly decide to 'tour' again because they need the £££ then no, probably not.

I recently saw a band again that I’ve loved for 20 years. Yes, the voices are definitely not what they once were, but it was basically a huge sing along for 2 hours as they played many of their old favorites. I actually went to the concert by myself and really enjoyed myself. I vote go.

If he had no voice and was just eh in 2007 it's highly unlikely he's improved any. I'd spend my money on something else.

In the last year or so I have seen a couple of bands that I last saw in the 80s (one in 1983 and the other in 1985). I wouldn't say that I ever had a teeny bopper crush on any of them, I just really loved their music. Honestly, you wouldn't have known they were 32 and 34 years older and all in their early to mid 60s - their energy was amazing!!

Sure!!!
I have been a fan of Donny Osmond’s since I was 6 years old. He’s 60 now and I would go see him in a heartbeat!
(I am actually planning on seeing him next March hopefully)

My favorite singer when i was 12 was billy joel I love to see him, but he can still song and his tickets are like $500 apiece, which i do not have $1000 to go to a concert.(wouldn't want to go alone ) I was just thinking the other day i'd love to see Hall & Oates again. That was the soundtrack of my teen summers Billy Joel, Hall & Oates and Queen
I didn't actually crush on them romantically though
Well Hall & Oates are in AC in Nov but the tickets are $150 to $300 plus, Geez I paid $30 to see them I swear, Maybe I'd rather spend the money on billy Joel. I just cheap i guess. I wonder what the difference in the prices are? a giant column in my way? LOL
I vote go if you don't mind spending the money

We must find David Holmes!!!!! That's who popped into my head too! I lost track of that thread. Did anyone every find him? I remember there were a lot of ‘this could be him’ internet sightings but don’t remember if he was ever “found”. To answer the OP, I might go see someone. Then again maybe not. A few years ago when we were living in Texas, Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere and the Raiders was playing at an outside park music event that was just down the road from us. Maybe less than 2 miles. My DH went, but I declined. DH said he was really surprised how well he sounded considering he must’ve been about 70 then.

Why such a mystery around who it is, OP?
But to answer your question, yes...yes, I would. Rod Stewart has been a long time favorite of mine (dating back to my late teens) and I'v seen him many times. It never gets old for me, I still love him.

I've most recently gone to see Joan Jett, Styx and Ozzie Osbourne and they were all so much fun! I vote go....definitely! You may not get another chance! lol....(which is totally how I convinced myself to pay so much for tickets for Ozzie!)
