Just went to see Rick Springfield in May, I would go every chance I could to see him. He still is so good looking and he puts on a great show. I say go.

Waaay back in the early 70s, had a super teenybopper crush on a kinda famous rock star that faded. I mean lots of pics in my room, etc, like Paul McCartney to me. I saw him maybe 8-10 times into my early 20's, then I last saw him at a small venue in 2007 and I didn't realize that he basically had no voice. He was just eh. Well, I'm going away in a few weeks, happened to look at his site (I look at it a couple of times per year) and he's playing at a small place about two miles from my hotel (if I was 15, my heart would be going pitter patter!!) So, this guy is now in his 70s. Would you go see him again as a "last hurrah"? Or should I just remember how he was almost 50 years ago. BTW he hasn't aged well (and neither have I)!! Absolutely! I still go see Tears for Fears every time I can. Of course, I think they still sound really good. I'm not sure I'd go if they sounded just awful or didn't out on a good show.

I would totally go. I go twice a year to these 80s alternative concerts and they are always a blast. For the most part, the voices have kept well. What are these 80s alternative concerts that happen twice a year? I've lived in So Cal for 25 years and I haven't heard of this!? I must live under a rock. Richard blade hosts them, Roq of the 80s nights #1 through 6. They are at the Microsoft center at LA Live. They are held in January and July. I’ve seen Adam Ant, Boy George, Blondie, Bow Wow Wow, Flock of Seagulls. They advertise on HD radio 106.7 2 and k earth 101 (the oldies station). I’m not going to the next one, because they started recycling bands, and veering into 80s pop (Tiffani? No).

YES!! This is someone you loved and the guy is still out there touring - absolutely go and support him! If you can, talk to him and tell him how much he and his music meant to you.

Well if you know what my name is over there.. you know Rick Springfield is my teen heart throb and still is. Funny I never saw him back in the day, but in the last 20 years I have been to 3 of his concerts. What is nice the venues are much smaller and easier to get awesome seats that are not to expensive. Two of those concerts I was actually RIGHT next to him and yeah I might have touched his booty.. maybe, did shake his hand once and he definitely sweated on me.. .. HAHA.. He still puts on a great show and good voice and he goes out into the audience and is right there in the middle of it.. ,

Go says the pea who saw KC and the Sunshine Band last month and Three Dog Night last year. It's fun to be with your "peers" at a concert.

I saw Duran Duran a couple of years ago. Bon Jovi around 7 years ago. Enjoyed both. Most recently, I went to see 2 of my fave 80's bands (Violent Femmes & Echo & The Bunnymen). It was horrible. Partly due to the venue, but Echo in particular was awful. Never again. I want my good 80's memories!

I'm impressed so many of those bands are still out there performing.

Yes, go!
I loved Donny Osmond as a young teen and went to several of his concerts with his brothers. I was one of those screaming girls. Lol
Donny and Marie were touring in my area a few months ago and my husband surprised me with tickets. Their show was fabulous! There were large screens behind them showing old videos the whole time and it really added to the nostalgia of the show.
They are certainly getting older (so am I) but they still put on a great show. Donny seemed to have more energy than Marie and he danced more and was all over the stage. Both Donny and Marie took breaks with slow songs and would sit on a stool on the stage.
It was a smaller venue and Donny would come down into the audience to interact with fans.
I’m also a huge John Mellencamp fan and we go to his concerts every time he’s in our area. He definitely hasn’t aged well in looks, (although I’ll always love him), but he can still rock it and his concerts are pretty high energy.

My teenybopper crush was Davy Jones of The Monkees and if he were alive and they were touring, I’d go see them.
One of my favorite bands in HS was Blue Oyster Cult and I went to see them a couple of years ago. It was not a good experience.

One of my teen crushes was Howard Jones and I FINALLY got to see him live a few years ago. We also saw Men in Hats, Information Society and Andy Bell from Erasure at the same concert. Seriously one of the best concerts ever! We had 4th row seats, sang along with every song and Howard Jones was fantastic live. I totally went all fan-girl when he was *right* there singing in front of us. My husband was a good sport since he knew how much I loved HoJo! I would see him again in a heartbeat! My husband and I had seen Information Society at our High School Grad Night at Disney in 1989, so it was so fun seeing them again.

That's who popped into my head too! I lost track of that thread. Did anyone every find him? I remember there were a lot of ‘this could be him’ internet sightings but don’t remember if he was ever “found”. To answer the OP, I might go see someone. Then again maybe not. A few years ago when we were living in Texas, Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere and the Raiders was playing at an outside park music event that was just down the road from us. Maybe less than 2 miles. My DH went, but I declined. DH said he was really surprised how well he sounded considering he must’ve been about 70 then. No--I still get magazines where he appears and I'll read all of the little snippets of information, but he's still a mystery!

Well, Eric Bloom barely did any of the vocals, which was maybe not that surprising, but Don Roeser also abdicated much of his guitar work to a younger guy, which did surprise me.

I wouldn't say crush as in physically attracted, but LOVED the sound of his voice and that was Billy Dean. I saw him last year and with it being 20 years later, he wasn't looking terrible.

I think it depends on the cost and whether it would take away from something else you could do that day. Being that you saw him in 2007 and he wasn't good, I'm not sure I'd spend too much or go out of my way to see him again now. Then again, a smaller venue might afford you the opportunity to speak to him in person which could be fun in itself. Have you seen any videos of his recent performances?

Didn’t realize they were still touring so we have since been to a couple more of their shows. Super high energy. The majority of shows tend to be on the west coast, but they tour year round practically.

Was it Ian McCulloch with them again? I saw them in concert in 88, man Ian McCulloch had the most beautiful lips. I saw Violent Femmes in 90 or so, it was a terrible concert. I was so disappointed, I don’t think they are meant to hear live in a fancy venue! It was at the Paramount in Seattle, it was way too posh for them.

Jon Bon Jovi? At 70? Yes because I would be in my fifties and might still have a chance. Yes! I want to see Bon Jovi in concert so bad! I have loved them since the day I heard Runaway for the first time. I can live with the lack of Richie on guitar. Though, I do miss him on the new album. It’s still been played numerous times. Jon BonJovi has aged so well, too.

I've seen my tween star crush several times live as an adult, and in the weirdness that is life, I became friends with his sister a couple of years ago, through our kids being in marching band together.
