My phone is dying a fast death and I wanted to get the google pixel 2 since I can make payments. Only thing is, they only have the 64 gb in stock. My current phone is a 32 gb but it has expandable storage, so I have a 64 gb micro sd in it. I'm only using about 35 gb of storage in total right now and wonder if the 64 would be enough. I don't mind using cloud storage for my pics but I can't find a lot of info about that-whether or not there's a charge or if pictures automatically upload to it or if they're easy to find/display or what. Also, I am pretty sure I read that when you start to get too much of your storage capacity filled, your phone doesn't work as well. What is your minimum amount for storage on your phone?
I should mention-I don't have movies or music (other than ringtones) on my phone. I do have apps plus the photos and videos I take and i rarely take the time to go through and delete or transfer them, but with my recent phone issues I did transfer quite a few to my pc.
The other option is to get the pixel 1 from a 3rd party but they don't offer financing like google does.

128GB and I’m using about 45. I have almost 9000 pictures and many hours of podcasts on it. I don’t want to ever run out of storage.

I have 64G on my iPhone and iPad and I find it to be plenty. I just have the standard free 5Gb iCloud storage and that’s enough for the backups of both devices including the few hundred photos I keep on them. I have my photos auto backed up to OneDrive as part of my Office 365 subscription - I make good use of it as I like the full-feature MS Office apps on my devices. I also back up to Google Photos, which is free. I do both as they both offer different benefits. I use OneDrive for virtually all my document storage, photos back up in full size but if you have Live Photo’s, the live part is lost. If you delete a photo from one drive, it remains on your device. Google photos also works away in the background backing up photos almost instantly. It retains live features and has fantastic search features and album suggestions. When you delete off Google Photos, the photo also gets deleted off your devices so it’s an easy way of freeing up space on your phone. It also has a feature where it tells you how many photos you can safely delete as they are backed up. From the two cloud storage apps, I can quickly and easily view photos if I’m connected to the internet, or download them back onto devices or share them whenever I like. Works brilliantly. I particularly like Google Photos for browsing photos, as it is just so easy to look for a particular holiday or day. You can even search for key words like garden or beach, and it will find any photos that match. OneDrive saves all the photos just as a single Camera Roll back up and it’s then up to you to move them to different folders.

128 GB. My phone is doing an update right now so I can't see how much I have used but let's just say it's almost full.

In terms of photo storage, I have an iPhone and the Google Photos app. All of my photos automatically upload to the cloud through the app. I don’t pay for it and as far as I can tell, the amount of storage is quite generous. I have never received a message saying I was nearing my storage limit.
I would think a Google phone would have this available since they’re both Google products.

I have 128 GB and just checked out of curiosity -- I'm only using about 30 GB. I do use iCloud back-up and pay for additional storage there.

I have a 64 gig iPhone 6 that is maxed out on space so my new iPhone 8 will be here today. I got the 256 gig so hopefully it’ll last a good long while. I’ve made the 6 last almost 3 years. I take all my pix and videos on my phone.

When I had a 32g j was constantly getting notifications of full storage so when I got my last phone j got one with more storage (I think it was 156 or something). We just got new phones and it was determined that the biggest usage of my storage now was podcasts. I pay for extra iCloud storage anyway ($1.99 a month) for photos so the person at the store routed my podcasts to that. I just got a 64 gb and so far its working well.

I have a Note 9 with 128 gb storage plus expandable storage. I'm sitting at around 35gb used. But I love the expandable storage option.

I have the iPhone X. When it came out they only offered it in the 64 GB or the 256 GB. Coming from an iPhone 7+ with 128 GB I knew the 64 would not be big enough, so I went with the 256. I’m glad I did because I will be keeping this phone for a very long time because I love it so much.

The other option is to get the pixel 1 from a 3rd party but they don't offer financing like google does. I have the Pixel 2 with 128G. I am currently using 25G. Photos and music take up the most of my space (well that and apps). All my photos go to Google Photos and at any time I can download back to my phone if needed. GPhotos is free, the catch is that for most users it compresses photos unless you are using Pixel 2. Here is the scoop from Google: "With Pixel 2 you get free, unlimited original-quality storage for photos and videos uploaded through the end of 2020, and free, unlimited high-quality storage for photos uploaded afterwards. After 2020, there is no change to the photos you took before 2020 and you will always have access to those in original quality. This is new for this year. We know that people tend to change their phone every 2-3 years so for Pixel 2, we are offering storage in line with that."

I just searched on how to free up some space on mine.
I went into all my apps and cleared the cache. Should make it run faster. I have a Galaxy4 and don't plan on upgrading anytime soon.

I have 128 GB and currently have 70 GB free. But that does change and I’m not sure that you can compare an iPhone and a Pixel because I’m not familiar with Pixels.
When you take a photo with an iphone, the full resolution is on your phone until it’s caught by the Cloud (mine uploads every night). After the photo uploads to the Cloud, I’m left with a lesser resolution photo on my phone. I can tap on the photo and it will download the full sized version again, from the Cloud.
The mini files allows you to have thousands of photos on your phone (I have over 55,000), but as you can see, it takes up very little space, which is why I have so much storage space on my phone. I don’t know if a Pixel does that. You also need space on your phone for updates and to transfer things to the Cloud, but only a few GBs. If you continue at your current rate, you should be ok. Can you add a new SD card if the new phone fills up?
Don’t buy a Pixel 1. Aren’t the 3s out now? I wouldn’t get a phone that “old”.

You can download and use Google photos now. I have over 80k photos stored there. I have only recently started paying for Google storage but I'm also a heavy user of Google Drive.
The search function in Google photos is AMAZING! And all with out tagging. There is a kid on my son's soccer team who we haven't seen since preschool (they are 11 now). I knew I had pictures of them at preschool. I just searched "school" and then scrolled to the general time period and Bam there was a photo of the two of them! Made a then and now collage and shared it with the other mom. All done on the sidelines while watching their game.
I also scrapbook and never have any issues with print quality.

That's one reason I went with the Samsung before, but after ds and I are both having problems with our samsung phones, I'm not willing to go with them again. I think I'll just put myself on the waitlist for the 128 gb pixel 2 for now and see what happens.

I just checked and Is it really possible my 5s has only 12gb? It says I've used 11.5 GB and only have 500 mb left. It's a work phone and there's a "process" of approvals needed to upgrade, so I've delayed rather than go through the rigamarole. I've deleted most everything except essential stuff off the phone. Would love to get rid of some apps that I never use but they came with the phone and are locked in. I don't have enough room to run the new update, and it's constantly telling me storage is full. I had no idea you could get 128 GB. Maybe it's time to tell work to approve an upgrade and see if they will go for that.

update-I just ordered the pixel 2 with 64 gb. I'll just have to make it work-my phone is getting really bad. I charge it about 3-4 times a day now, and even if I barely use it I have to re-charge it mid-day. It also is getting hot a lot faster than before (and it was pretty bad before). I guess I should be grateful I got 2 yrs out of it...

That's after a 10 day WDW/DCL crusie where I was the main photo taker for our group of 10. I love Google photos and have even gotten several iPhone users to start using it too.
