Someone who sleeps half naked (well mostly naked apart from underwear) needs an electric blanket because he gets cold. Why is this? Wouldn't it make sense to just wear more pyjamas or something?

I can't sleep with a shirt on. The neck hole and the seams in the armpits but the crap out of me. I don't need an electric blanket in the summer but I live in a warm climate with no AC.

Because that's the way he likes it? He wants to be naked and he gets cold. Getting cold doesn't make him not want to be naked.

I get it. I don't like most pajamas because they bunch up around the waist or knees, but I still like being warm. I also need the weight of blankets even when the room is warm enough. Sleep can be pretty personal, and a lot of people form associations and habits that are hard to break.

May be similar to me needing the window open and fan on, even in winter.

I assume it is because he is more comfortable sleeping without clothes but because of that, he gets cold

These are all very possible. The guy sleeps with the window closed though (summer and winter). It was curious though.

That's me. I cannot sleep in pajamas. They ARE too confining. They get twisted around, ride up, etc etc. If for some reason I have to wear them (sharing a hotel room with someone besides dh and dd) I hardly sleep.
Yet, I get cold in winter and have an electric blanket. So nice!

I am in the hate wearing clothes to bed group. I think because I was forced to wear nightdresses or pj tops with buttons. Plus sleep without making to big a mess of the bed.
I want to flip flop freely and if I get cold pull up some nice fluky blanket.

I feel for you, OP. DH wears just shorts to bed, and he is always cold. I on the other hand prefer when it's cool. He doesn't use an electric blanket, but we always have a thick quilt on the bed and he never wants to sleep with the windows open in the fall, which I love. Since I sleep much better than he does, I let him have his way on this. Ah the compromises of marriage!

This sounds like my husband lol. He lost over 100lbs now he is always cold. He will sit and watch tv and complain that he is cold. Hmmm okay put some clothes on!
He too will sleep in just boxers and freeze.

I sleep practically naked but with lots of blankets.
I turn the ac down to freezing and then sleep under a blanket.
It's the only way I'm comfortable.
I don't like pjs. I like to feel the coolness and smoothness of the sheets against my skin. No pjs feel like that.
I like for the air to be cold on my face and arms and then have to cuddle up under blankets.
I could never use an electric blanket though...I'd burn up.

Seems odd to me,but then I like to wear my pyjamas buttoned up to the neck. I can't bear to feel chilly in bed.

Help me understand why this is even a question???
The answer is simple: personal preference.

I can't stand to have restrictive clothing on at night, nor can I stand having flowing clothing getting all bunches up or tangled around me. So underwear & a cami (or pajamas that are very much along those lines) work best for me. However, I love the feeling of snuggling down into blankets, so I use a quilt year round, no matter how viciously hot it is outside. I just put a fan right near me and/or turn on the a/c. But I need that quilt. My choice of clothing has absolutely nothing at all to do with the temperature of the room. It's all about comfort. My quilt has nothing to do with the temperature of the room. It's all about the ability to draw something warm and snuggly all around myself. Years ago, when QVC was new, my mom was a fan, and one day she was watching a show about bedding and the host said that he likes to have several blankets and/or a heavy blanket on at night because basically he liked the feel of having a Buick on him at night. I totally get that.

some like lighter for comfort. The less layers the betters without being uncomfortable. I hate layers but i do like it cold.I can't wear like a full PJ set to restricting.

Yeah, I think it's a confinement thing. PJ's are too restricting maybe.
