We've been on several cruises and are planning to do a 7-day Caribbean with our 21 and 22 year old "kids" over Christmas. All except a few of our cruises were on Carnival and Royal Caribbean. The kids were 9-10 at the time and loved both of them. DH and I did Celebrity 15 years ago to Alaska and enjoyed it. Took the kids to Alaska on NCL and did not like the ship.
So-are Celebrity and Princess too "old/stodgy" for our college kids? It's Christmas so I figure there will be a lot of people all ages.
I kind of think of Celebrity/Princess as a step above RCCL and Carnival. Is that accurate?
I actually like both Carnival and RCCL--Royal Caribbean seems a little nicer than Carnival.
I will hop over to Cruise Critic also but what are your opinions?
Thanks!!

I like RCL better than Princess, Celebrity better than RCL. Do some research on the age of the ship though because that can make a difference. I think both are fine for your family. Not stodgy at all IMO.
NCL isn't my favorite although we have cruised with them several times for specific itineraries/dates. We're headed out in November for a poker cruise for my hubby. I have to say their suite perks are pretty awesome!

We have done both Royal (1) and Princess (3) and we would do both again. We have no interest in doing a Carnival cruise. Just not our style. No idea about the kid thing because we don't have any.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd owns Royal Caribbean and Celebrity.
I prefer both of them over anything else. We've done seven cruises.
The number of young people on a cruise varies according to time of the year. Our last cruise on RC was the third week of March and was about 70 percent college crowd.

We go on a Carnival cruise every summer. I'm not sure about all the other cruise liners but I love Carnival! Great food, customer service, entertainment, ports. Love Carnival! Have fun planning your cruise and let us know who you'll be cruising with.

Given all of Carnival's issues last cruise season and how they handled them, I'm not sure I would take a Carnival cruise even if it were given to me for free.

Princess has truly gone downhill since carnival bought them. And the princess cabins are much smaller. I've been on five princess cruises and have watched the decline...they nickel and dime you. We are going on RCCL next spring on a long repositioning cruise. I've been on Costa, Carnival, Celebrity and Holland America besides RCCL over the years. I won't say I'd never do princess again but the itinerary and price would have to be enticing. I'd avoid Costa as everything is in euros and Americans feel poor compared to how much Europeans have to spend.
