I also keep things in my cart at ACOT for a long time. I add and delete items. It's surprising, but I'll see things in my cart weeks later and realize I really am no longer excited about it. This speaks to something I've noticed - shopping online doesn't really FEEL like shopping, so you can trick your brain into thinking you've shopped, either by putting things in a cart and then closing the browser down, or by pinning stuff on Pinterest on a wishlist. It feels almost exactly the same! Have you ever noticed that if an order is delayed you hardly even notice - they say the best moment of shopping is when you've decided to buy it but before you actually own the stuff. Once you own it reality sets in. But if you pin stuff you feel like you "captured it" and by the time you notice you don't actually receive it other cool things have come out that you want even more. Don't go look at your wishlist often though! So true! I just had to have Indigo Hills 2 (which I still think is lovely) but I haven't used anything but the letter stickers. Clearly I didn't *need* it. I just wanted the shopping high & had FOMO.

That is so interesting about the moment when you decide to buy. That is it. After I hit send I don’t feel nearly as good. Combining all of these suggestions is really helpful. Understanding when my brain lights up the most really makes me want to go on a resist. I have ended up a number of times with items I’m pretty disinterested in by the time they come in the mail and sometimes even within moments after I have bought them. There is some sort of mob think thing going on too. If your crafty friend notifies you of some “must have” item it becomes harder to resist if there is a lot of cheerleading going on. It happens in forum comments too.

I am about to find out if I can stop shopping. I was supposed to be on a freeze from November to May. I caved for a couple BF sales but haven't shopped since. So many things in this thread I can relate to. Such as putting things in my cart, then when I go back awhile later, I find I don't really want it so much after all. It's almost after I've looked at it enough, it loses it's appeal and it almost feels like I already own it.
And yes, my brain lights up right until I hit "buy" and then not long after I'm sorry I did it. I have found myself browsing websites literally looking for something to buy because I was either in the mood to shop, or wanted to scrap and was too tired, no time, trying to hit the free shipping threshold, etc. A couple of trips to Tuesday morning showed me that I was just shopping to shop, not because I wanted a specific thing, just looking for what everyone else was finding. FOMO is real! lol.
I really like the idea of not shopping until I've done 100 pages. It would be easy to stay on a freeze and then just not scrap, which defeats the purpose of the freeze for me. Thank goodness for the monthly challenges! That should keep me scrapping while I'm not shopping. This has been an interesting thread!

While I don't have a gigantic stash, I did buy more than I usually do this year. I unsubscribed from my SBTM, well, didn't renew for next year, and haven't bought anything this month. I am going to try and stay frozen until I see a definite decrease in my stash, other than adhesive. Good luck, you can do it!

I am a low budget scrapper. I simply don't look...I'm not on Instagram. I don't YouTube. I don't follow any blogs or celebrities. Nothing. And I kind of like it that way. I have no expectations, I feel no disappointment. And when I feel like I need inspiration, I look at our gallery and the challenges posted. Every once in a while, I will look at a post here with a collection debuted. If I like it, I narrow down which pieces speak to me and I order them. I get a kit from The Scraproom each month. That's about all I feel like I need to create. And I find it very satisfying to create something beautiful with very little. My style is simpler, cleaner and it takes me much less time to make a decision and put out products I'm happy with.

i have had times where i had no choice but to freeze, so i definitely unsubbed from everything, and pretty well just stayed off the internets. however, if i try and make myself not buy stuff, it always backfires. i'll do very well for a period of time and then it's like the dam breaks and i just go batshit crazy buying up stuff left and right. i am going to try to be good for the next few months but we shall see. OP i wish you luck! if you'd like inspiration for using your stash, check out our monthly team challenge in the challenges forum

Just checking in with you girls! No shopping yet, almost 10 days. I was thrilled that my DH bought me a sewing machine with built in stitches for Christmas! I just want to sew on my pages. I flunked the sewing class in home-ec, so hoping I can do this!!! Hope everyone had a nice holiday!
