I hope some of you are still participating and I hope to see your projects shared here! I will share some of my January project this weekend. But for now, here's your February reminder/prompts. Welcome to February February is all about settling in with your word, digging deeper & making sure you are on track for the year. Prompt 1: Find your inspirationNow that you’ve defined your word & your goals, it’s time to dig deeper and really focus on how your word can help you achieve your goals. Some ideas: + create a vision board & hang it where you will see it daily + create a smaller vision board w/ items cut from a magazine and stick it in your journal/album/etc. + create a pinterest board where you can pin quotes and other inspirational images related to your word + literally pin up some inspiring images/words around your house/workspace Prompt 2: Check in on last month’s goals/set next month’s goalsHave you made progress towards your annual goals? Did you stick with your January goals? What are some things related to your word that you specifically want to focus on in February? How do you plan to make that happen? Prompt 3: Check in on your daily practice How did you do on your daily practice? What worked/what didn’t? Identify patterns. Is this something you will continue in Feb? Is there a different daily practice you want to work on? What can you do to be more successful this month? Prompt 4: Take a monthly self-portraitI am following along in the OLW journal so I plan to include this prompt each month. Thanks lasteve1 - I was planning to come over and check in to say hi on this last day of January but I got a bit distracted. So far I don't have anything visual to share. I've been journaling in Day One. I reviewed my Unravel Your Year notes from last year (which were also related to the year before) and made some notes about this year's words (one is the same as last year). I've been tracking some daily habits and intentions but they don't necessarily relate directly to my word. They're just general TCB goals. I tried out crochet, which was one of the things I've barely dabbled in but wanted to go a little deeper into, to develop a skill in. But I've already caught myself taking my familiar shallow/meandering path - I made a granny square, and then instead of making some more to practice the basic principles I decided I might need some more yarn, and then I picked up a couple of cool (complicated) pattern books from the library. So I haven't actually made a 2nd basic square yet, or used up the scrap yarn I already have. Admittedly I haven't bought any other yarn, so at least I'm on track with thrift, if not with deep I'll have to think about how I want to create some visual inspiration this month!

I am not participating in the class. I choose a "word" actually a few words, for myself to have as a focus.
I am trying to figure out how to "un-tag" myself in this post, but so far can't figure out how. My preference is to not be tagged on any of the future reminders. Thank you.

Thanks for tagging me! I actually forgot about this!!! I'm finishing up an accelerated, writing-intensive English course and getting ready to start an externship for another class.
I did finally get my album (took 3 weeks to get here). I also got a little stone with my word imprinted on it. I will share pics later!

My January was very successful. I finished the prompt in my album & got my goals down on paper. I'm trying to exercise & craft 3x/week and I did. My daily practice is to read everyday and I was successful.
I hope to keep this momentum going for February. Catching up on my e-class backlog is on my to do list.

No visuals for me yet either but I xN say that my word has been at the back of my mind. I'm thinking about doing some work with it this weekend.

Thank you, lasteve1 for taking charge and posting great challenges and keeping this going. I am doing pretty well. I have all of January documentation done. I did most of my goals. I missed one big one, something i really wanted to do, but my nerves got the best of me and i backed out. But I'll have another opportunity to try again later this month. But overall, I did pretty well with this month's goals. I'll work on a vision board this month, plus try to keep my momentum.

I'm late to thread and I know it's ONE little word, but I found this quote on Pinterest and I'm trying to use this as my one quote of the year. Reset Refocus Readjust Restart as many times as you need to. I'm constantly interrupted and it's impossible to have any type of routine, so this works for me. I guess the word persist works too.

Thanks for keeping us headed in the right direction! I like your quote, refugeepea! I've made some teeny tiny progress on mine. One word to focus on is a goal for a women's group meeting I have on Monday, so that will give me some added momentum. I still haven't started my 2019 journal at all.

So January was pretty successful for me with OLW. I'm still trying to decide if I'm happy with my decision to skip Ali's class and just work with the journal and my self-created prompts, but so far it has worked out well. Part of the reason I wanted to skip the class/album this year was because I wanted to focus my crafty time on other projects and so far that's been working out well--I have gotten so much created in the past month and don't feel "behind" at all. In the beginning of the journal I wrote out my reason why & defined my word. There is also a place for you to add in some inspirational quotes & images, I haven't yet used that page. I didn't photograph those pages because they are somewhat personal. The next spread is for monthly self-portraits. I added my January photo and my two main focuses for the month, I plan to add to this spread each month. There is also a spread to list out monthly intentions for each month of the year. This has the same amount of space per month as there is in each month's section so I guess the idea is to copy your intentions into both places. That seems a little repetitive, but it might be nice to see them in both places so I did it for now. Each monthly section begins with a blank page opposite a quote. I plan to add something to the blank page each month, likely inspiration cut from magazines or something similar. This month I included a page from a magazine about home organization which is something I am working on this month. Then there is a monthly calendar page. Originally I struggled with what to use this page for, but eventually I decided that I would use it to write down my daily steps. I am tracking my steps with my fitbit and my daily goal tracker for the year is to try to hit my steps as much as possible. I decided it made sense to include this in the album as well because the goal tracker doesn't actually show how many steps I got, just if I met my goal or not, and this will stay in the book so it will be there to look back on in the future. And here's my goal tracker on the wall in my scrapbook room (goal tracker is a free download from Elise Blaha Cripe). After the monthly calendar page there is a place to write down your goals, wins and reflections for the month, plus some spaces to include photos. I filled in the goals at the beginning of the month and the rest towards the end. I also set my year long goals in my Get to Work Book and my monthly goals in there as well. Some of these goals overlapped with the ones in my GTWB and others didn't--those goals were broader and these were focused on my OLW for the most part. Then the journal has different prompts for each month. This month's prompt was to revisit previous words which I really liked. My previous words are: brave, present, choose, and grow. So I wrote about what my focus was with each word and how it's still in my life. I didn't photograph that spread because some of it is more personal. So that's January. I hope to see what others are creating as well.

I started adding some bits and pieces to my old OLW Pinterest board. I'm not sure if my words don't really work as keywords on pinterest or if pinterest just doesn't really work for me (or a bit of both!) but anyway, I found a few things I liked for deep/thrift. my OLW boardI think I might work on some graphics/word art of my own that better express what the "deep" idea is to me and maybe design some things based on what I wrote last month.

I don't have magazines to cut from, and I don't really know what I would cut for my words (deep and thrift - not exactly themes that come up much in magazines!) so I did some word art sketching that I need to photograph and post here. But tbh I don't even care to finish it and keep it because it just doesn't mean much to me. I'd rather journal. Any interest in sharing a picture of what you made anyway mom ?

I will photograph it in the am. What I ended up doing was 2 (front and back) 6x8 'boards'. I used white paper, and then just cut out things that spoke to me. Mainly, flowers + quotes. Very kindergarten-ish. LOL

mom you are not alone. I made one last year, and I felt meh about it. This year I did not feel like buying a bunch of magazines just for this purpose. andreacollects on Instagram did a “head map” that I liked so I copied that. I only did 6x8 and used my stash & stamps to make it. It’s done so I’m happy lol.

Going to save that for next year since I but the bullet last night on the vision board. I didn't buy any new magazines for this. I used the home decor mags I already had (hence, why I had to use flowers and quotes). It is what it is, lol. Its done, and I am ready to move on though I have no clue what i am dong for 31 days in March.

So today I got my vision board done....and I have to say, I HATE making these. Please tell me I am not alone in hating them! I still need to make mine. I subscribe to Real Simple magazine so everything I cut out will be from those. I don't hate making them, but I procrastinate on it because I'd rather scrapbook. When I've done them in the past I found it to be a relaxing activity while watching TV. Hopefully I get to it later this week.
I'm not creating an album for OLW this year so I will probably create a 9x12 collage and stick it in my "me" scrapbook. I would love to see photos of your project

I feel like there would be magazines about thifting? Also you could cut out letters and create words with them--like the ransom note style.
I would love to see your word art sketching--that sounds like a great way to interpret the prompt. I love seeing all the different ways people come up with to do it.

Here's the thing I did. It's just in pencil so I edited it a bit to make it more visible. I'm not sure if I'll finish it up with pen or not. I don't have anywhere to put it - my project is all in my Day One journal. OLW WIP by jo.blackford, on Flickr
