I have never been a chronological scrapper. I have several albums going back to when dd was born in 1990. Beginning with 2000 I went from 8 1/2 x 11 to 12 x 12. The problem is I now have well over 200 pages that aren’t in albums. Pulling apart what I have in albums and sorting/organizing every layout is the only way to make everything chronological but the thought makes me crazy. Would you just start new albums and go from there? It’s really not that important that the pages are in perfect order. I do have some complete albums from a trip, my childhood, our house, etc. I also have dgd’s album in order but have gaps of photos I haven’t scrapped.

I've let go of needing my albums to be chronological. I used to be so rigid about doing things in order. Yesterday I was looking through a couple of albums and for the most part they are chronological but I found that layouts that were from years past were like a pleasant blast from the past. I liked seeing pictures from a few years ago and then one from 15 years ago. You said that it's not important that they're in perfect order so I wouldn't make it a stressful and tedious sorting project. I would put on a movie and give some attention to sorting them but not too much.
This reminds me that I have quite a pile of homeless layouts and it's growing. I need to buy some albums.

I don't scrap chronological either. I just throw pages in an album and I'm done. I love to look through and see varying stages in my kids life. Sometimes I accidently scrap the same photo's more than once...lol. So I'm glad they don't get put next to each other. Makes it easier on me and since I'm really the only one that looks at them I do it however I want ha! lol

I guess I wouldn't get too worked up about it either. Put them in albums and be done. Enjoy them however they are! If it's something that really needs to be in order, I would put it in it's own album.

If having them chronologically in order isn't important to you, then just place the homeless layouts in new albums.
You can always go back and reorganize them later if you change your mind.

here's what I would do... my opinion only, of course. If you switched from 8.5x11 to 12x12 at some point, is there any overlap where you were doing both types? if so, I'd put them all in 12x12 albums, sorting 'mostly' chronologically, and mix the page sizes together in mainly chronological order. If there is NO overlap between sizes, then I'd leave what's already done alone, and start new albums.
I scrap whatever / whenever I want, and put them in my albums *mostly* in chronological order, like within the same month/season. (and FYI, I use D-ring albums.) If I find another layout that needs to go somewhere in between pages I've already put into my albums, then I just add page protectors in between, add the layout, and then there's just a couple half pages that won't have a back/front with them. That doesn't bother me. If it did bother me, I'd probably just add a piece of patterned paper to cover up the back of the layout pages next to it.
I don't separate my albums by year (i.e., our 2017 album, our 2016 album, etc.) but the layouts inside my albums are (mostly) in chronological order. My albums are separated by topic: Places we Go: Southwest; Home & Family, etc. and the layouts in each of them are chronological, more or less. I have done a couple big shuffling / organizing projects, and it's been a good way for me to see what topics I still need to scrap.

Another option might be to forgo the albums and just keep them in boxes. Strong pretty boxes.
Just a thought

I don't scrap chronologically either. My albums are split by subject - because it makes it easier when I want to pull them out for family gatherings, etc. Within the "kiddo's" (grandkid) album, the pages are, for the most part in order, but pages get added where ever then fall within the album. KWIM?

I think you'll do what makes you most happy about the 200, but I might suggest converting to 3-ring if you don't use them already. It takes all of this stress away but easily enough being able to insert pages. I don't scrap chrono either, but it does give me joy to see the progression over time of a chronological album.

I have to keep my layouts in chronological order. I'm too OCD to do anything else.
But, you should do whatever makes YOU happy.

I appreciate all of your opinions so much! I do want the layouts in albums. I’m going to allow myself to just put them in and be done with it! I do use D ring albums except for the trip album and the house album because those are done and in order.
And just to clarify, when I switched sizes I still scrap layouts from prior to 2000 in 8 1/2 x 11. Maybe I’ll change that up though! I feel liberated and honestly, I’m just darn happy be scrapbooking.

Sounds like you answered your own question when you said it’s not that important for them to be in chronological order. Just start your new albums and go from there. There’s no right way and no scrapbook police. 😉 Do what works for you!
I will say for me, I’d have to rearrange them close to chronological. But for a rabbit that married a tigger, I accept my challenges and revel in my little things. 😂

I switched from 8.5x11 to 12x12 in 2000 too. For the most part I remember when I scrap older pictures, but not always.
I also don’t scrap chronologically either and many albums are a hot mess. I’m all three ring binders though, so I’m planning to get them resorted one of these days.

if YOU don't care about chronological - then put them in albums and call it good.
me? I prefer chronological although I don't scrap that way so I would need to put them in roughly chronological order (oh, who am I kidding? I would be hunting down the dates of the photos and stressing about sliding the occasional one-pager in slightly out of order)

I don’t scrap chronologically but my albums are kept chronologically. 3 ring binders work best for me, but I agree that you should definitely do what makes you happy.

I don’t scrap chronologically but I have albums dated for different time frames like 2010-2015, etc. then when I finish a page I just put it in the album that fits the time frame. So not exactly chronological but easier to find something if you’re looking for it.

You're not kelleem anymore! What a difference a capital letter makes! I put my pages in albums as chronologically as possible as soon as I finish them.
Do you have your layouts in page protectors? Find some 3 ring albums and put them in. I would come up with come kind of order or at least theme or year.

These layouts are not in page protectors, for the most part. I have 43ring albums to put some in. And I have some (probably enough) page protectors. I guess I should spend some time getting them into albums...I really don’t like that part much!
