Another Jim & Pam fan...and I'll throw in Michael and sweet Holly Flax. I loved them together, and his proposal scene with the million candles and the fire sprinklers going off all around them had me sobbing it was so sweet. That scene got to me as much as Jim and Pam's wedding. I'll chime in on the Luke and Laura controversy. I was in HS when the show was airing. If I recall correctly the whole rape/Scotty Baldwin love story was about a year or two before the Luke and Laura romance started. Most of us were in school during the day for that story line and it was the days before VHS and DVR. Lots of other stuff was going on and IDK at what point the writers decided to change Luke's character from a bad guy to a good one, but they did. He had a sister Jackie who was loveable and the two of them together worked as well. The character personality switch wasn't unusual. I remember there was a really bad pimp named Marco and they made him likable after a while too. As a soap fan you just rolled with it. An actor would quit, there'd be a new one to replace the same character. Once they reworked Luke's character they started the romance story between him and Laura. They barely mentioned the rape at all, pretty much they just wanted us to forget it had happened. The romance took off during the summer hours where again, those of us missed the actual rape story line just disregarded it. Luke was sticking his tongue down Laura's face and we were all hooked. Never mind that he wasn't even good looking. Those scenes were hot and everyone was signing "I just can't cope, without my soap!" It was campy and fun and really, it wasn't that deep for most of us. I'm going to embarrass myself with the details I remember. Luke's sister was Bobby Spencer and she was in love with Scotty Baldwin who was with Laura. ETA To the OP's question, I do think Jim and Pam is one of the sweetest love stories. One of my favorite scenes is them sharing a set of earbuds long before they became a couple.

The first time they got married, but the 3rd time was way over the top. Come on. Really? What about Greg and Jenny? They had such a sweet story until she was killed in the water skiing broohaha. You had to suspend reality, but I really miss AMC.
I love Belle and Gold. He wasn't as evil when she was w/him, so it made him redeemable.

I also was super into the Luke and Laura story--but I wasn't watching when the rape happened and actually had no idea that it HAD happened until many years later when I heard about it. I started watching because I heard so many people talking about it and they were in the middle of some adventure story and the hoopla with their wedding and I loved it all. I had absolutely NO idea that it had ever happened, because Luke's character had totally transformed and it was never mentioned on any of the shows that I saw.

I see why everyone says Jim and Pam, but to me, it was JIM who was the great love story. I don't think Pam treated him like he treated her. Sometimes she did, but not always.
I don't like meanness in a love story and I know they have to do that for TV or they'd never have another episode. I hate to even bring up Bill Cosby, but Clair and Cliff Huxtable were great. They were respectful and loving towards each other at all times. To me, that's what made that show great.
But all time weeping sobbing love story? Up, hands down. That love was intense.

Love Jim and Pam too.
Going to say Coach Eric and His wife Tami from Friday Night Lights. Love their chemistry and the show is so good!

She also wasn’t aware that she loved him for the first several seasons, To be fair he spent the first couple of seasons trying to woo her. I think she was great after they were dating but I don’t think it’s fair to say that he did more for her than she did for him.

Haven't seen this one yet:
Jane and Michael on Jane the Virgin
I also agree with someone who posted above, I preferred Chandler and Monica's love story to Ross and Rachel.
I also agree with Jessie and Becky from Full House.
Regarding Soap Operas, my favorite love story was Danny and Cricket from The Young and the Restless.

I have never watched the office either UK or US.
Call me mad but for me it defines love, but not sexual. Penelope and Derek from Criminal minds.
I also loved Archie and Edith from All in the Family. It was not fluffy love you saw but every now and then you were given a glimpse into just how much Archie loved her.

Jim and Pam were definitely not 'sexual' I mean they were attracted to each other but was love, it was the story and I think why so many people do love their story line. I totally agree with Archie and Edith. Especially when Edith died. Even though I was younger I can remember their story. Archie is a lot of ways like my dad even in looks.

Mulder and Scully
Booth and Brennan
Each are similar, two FBI partners at work have a slow burn relationship until they can’t deny they love each other and become an example of a couple that truly cares and loves each other and can’t live without the other.
