Thinking about putting one together and using a few Ali Edwards stories kits I have (Changes, Drive, Grow) to do some "me" pages. I'm also thinking of putting my One Little Word (few) pages in there.
Does anyone else do this? Any advice?
One more question:
Is it private-only - where you can really get in there and journal? Or is it more accessible to others and so you keep out "the tough stuff"?

I do. I did it probably 14 years ago. When my kids were little I did separate albums of both of them. Then I married DH with three more kids and now I just do a family album. So I put pages about myself in there.

All my albums are me albums! lol. But no, seriously, that sounds like a great idea. I love the plan to use AE kits for it and OLW will combine well, I think

I have one that is on volume 2 now I use an 8.5x11 album. I do keep my OLW in a different album. I like having a place to put pages about my thoughts, or opinions etc. I do not have many pics from my childhood, but those are also in that album.

That sounds like a great idea, @zingermack. I have a "ME" album that is full, but I haven't fit the last few pages into it, and haven't started a volume 2. Most of the pages are random childhood memories and some responses to challenges from various sources that don't fit into my "regular" family albums.

No but I should. I would have loved to have one about my mom and her family history.

I do! I also have ones for each of my kids and a family one. I have multiple of some of these categories and I don't scrapbook chronology, just create, date and put it away. I think its important to document myself for a few reasons...I'm not who I was when I got married, I change and that's good to see. Sometimes I need a place to document what's going on with me, my kids are getting older and some of their stories aren't mine to share, so I create pages that ARE mine to share. And simply I'm worthy of my own pages and albums.

I think that is a great idea! I'm waiting until my son is a bit older and I have more time to devote to it, but I would like to do something similar.

I started one this year for myself, in a yearbook sort of way documenting myself through the year. I would like to do a flashback one too.

I have one. Not that it has many LO's in it.
My 'book about me' is the only album where all LO's have just one photo so lots of room for more art and mixed media than I can usually do on my event based double page LOs with 10 plus photos on it. Its also about feelings more than facts. What I was feeling about becoming a mother, changing job etc.
So if I were to give advice it would be: enjoy the creative process and use those pretty things you've been hoarding......because you are worth it.

I don't have kids so a lot of my albums are about me (and those that aren't are usually about vacations). I love the idea of using the AE kits / OLW pages in your album. I definitely second the idea of using all the pretty things. I've made several pages where I've taken those too pretty to cover up papers and used them on pages without photos so I can see more of the design.
My me albums contain a mix of serious and not so serious pages. When I turned 30 and again when I turned 40 I made an 8x8 album that gave a bit of a snapshot of my life right now, things I liked, my current job, what I was listening to/reading/watching, things I want to achieve in the next ten years (and the album when I turned 40 had a review page on the things I said I wanted to achieve in my 30th album), the car I drive, what my house looks like and my decorating choices, etc

I started one many years ago (when Laura Ashley ventured into scrapbooking supplies). I’m the sixth of seven children in my family, born in the early 60s and there aren’t tons of pictures of me as a child. I have done one complete album and have a second empty album to start. I still have a bunch of LA papers to use for it.

Yes, I have a me album. Anything about me goes in. Childhood memories to adult things.

I to. Not a lot of pages in it but I love it for my children someday. I have pages with photos from the 1960s, pages with my word for the year and no photos, current pages of me, etc. The thing I work on more often is my journal about me. I answer a question about me and journal about it. I like to journal but I don't do it daily. I might only make an entry once a month or so when I feel like doing it, and it gives insight into who I am, what I love, etc. Here is a sample page:

I'm starting volume 2 this year also. Mine is called things i think about and things I want to tell you.
And that's exactly what every page is about. I make random pages when I have a new thought...which isn't very often!
Its 8x8 so very quick and easy and usually 1 pic.

My albums are organized by year, so anything pre-kids (2004) goes into one specific album. Someday I hope to separate it into heritage layouts, me layouts, and me and DH layouts but right now it all fits in one album... it's a work in progress.

I've been gathering photos and materials to start heritage albums for my side of the family and for DH's too, and I'll include all our pre-kid photos in those. My family scrap albums begin with my pregnancy with my oldest two. I don't do a lot of personal journaling in them. For a more personal "me" album, I'd like to start art journaling at some point. I don't want to combine that with my photos and memory keeping, mostly because I'm concerned about the size of my scrapbooking albums and their storage. I want a smaller format. But I also like the feeling of smaller being more private. I might not start this year, but it really does appeal to me.

Kind of--I have an 8.5x11 album that I use for LOs with photos/stories that don't need to be in the 12x12 family album. I should & could do more, but I'm too busy trying to keep up with my boys' LOs.

Yes. I have a 9x12 album that is for more personal or stories about me that don't fit into my annual albums (because they're not based on stories from the current year). I don't have any sort of timeline on filling it, just whenever I make a page that fits best into that album that's where it goes. I've put some OLW related things in there also. Even though I have always made 6x8 OLW albums in the past, if I did something that was larger I would put it in my "me" album (like creating an inspiration collage). Once the album is full I imagine I will just create a Vol. 2 of it, but for now it's not that thick even though I've been adding to it for a couple of years and I'm fine with that. It's not my priority to fill, but there is no reason to not create one just to hold pages when you want to make them.
This year I am creating a "me" digital photo book with mini layouts about the little things I currently like, etc. and I just plan to print whatever pages I have finished into a book at the end of the year through blurb. I'm curious if this will slow progress on my 9x12 me album or if they are simply different type stories so they will both progress.
ETA: To add a little context, I keep two 12x12 albums per year that hold chronological stories via weekly project life spreads and a variety of sizes of traditional pages sandwiched in-between. Then I have my 9x12 me album for stories for me and a 9x12 other stories album for stories that don't fit in any of the other two albums. In addition to these albums, I create mini albums such as WITL, DD, travel albums, but these are my 3 main ongoing projects. I know lots of people create pages and have them pile up but the way my brain works I have to have the album first and then add pages to it, I never have pages sitting outside albums. So I need these catch-all places.
But also, we don't have kids and if we did my me album might get filled even more slowly. Even so, I would still keep it so I have a place to put pages if I ever get around to making them! Plus, who says you need to have a "finish" date for your album? I would suggest you create an album and just add things to it as you make them. Why not?

I do. I take a picture of myself every month on the 8th and write 8 things I am thinking, feeling, doing. This will be my fourth year. It’s good for me to look back and see have I have changed and/or stayed the same. I do it strictly for myself!

I also love the art journal style others have mentioned. I have a list I created when I turned 40 of 40 things I want to do after I turn 40 and thought I would use that as a basis for an all about me album. On that list is my visit to all 50 states, but that is turning into it's own album.

I have a 12x12 album (well actually a few, but most are from my pre-family/kiddo life) which is for layouts that are just about me. And I just recently started a 6x8 album for ME which is primarily being used for stories sparked by the AE story kits + stamps.

So glad to see this thread. I actually have an old album that was sold as a kit by Lisa Bearson back in the good old QVC days. I think it's from 2007 or 2008 lol. Anywho I put it together many moons ago and never actually did anything with it. I still like it believe it or not. I just turned 40 so I should use it. I also consider my OLW & 30 days of thankful my "ME" albums.

All my albums are me albums! lol. Pretty much the same for me - except I'm now doing 1 album of my niece. She's now 5 and loves seeing layouts of herself.

I have a couple- one is my childhood/family photos. I have first job ( all journaling), teaching photos, events and I do try and have photos of just me with random journaling- Me at 21 etc. I do have the Book of Me! I was tidying/culling my craft room this morning and came across it. I threw 10 other books out but couldn't part with this one as the ideas are still relevant along with a Simple Stories Quiz one which has ideas for questions to ask, of yourself or others. I really like the idea of taking one photo a month and journaling some thoughts- maybe take some more creative photos rather than just head shots- eg maybe at a scrapbook class, maybe reading a book. Mmm- will think about this one a bit more! Corinne
