I plan to this year so that my kids and grandchildren, etc ... will know my stories. I'm also doing Ali's OLW this year so I may consolidate the two themes. Haven't decided for sure yet. Mainly, it's because my OLW album is an 8.5 x 11 album from Heidi Swapp, and I'm not sure how much I will love that format. I will have to see how I like scrapping with that size and dealing with the lack of pocket page inserts. There are few out there but not a lot to choose from. I really am interested in the 6 x 12 format but dislike how hard it is to find those albums also. That's the reason I haven't bought any yet. Good luck with your album!

I have a couple- one is my childhood/family photos. I have first job ( all journaling), teaching photos, events and I do try and have photos of just me with random journaling- Me at 21 etc. I do have the Book of Me! I was tidying/culling my craft room this morning and came across it. I threw 10 other books out but couldn't part with this one as the ideas are still relevant along with a Simple Stories Quiz one which has ideas for questions to ask, of yourself or others. I really like the idea of taking one photo a month and journaling some thoughts- maybe take some more creative photos rather than just head shots- eg maybe at a scrapbook class, maybe reading a book. Mmm- will think about this one a bit more! Corinne TFS. Do you have a link to the SS quiz you mentioned? I looked a bit, but am not finding one.

Sorry, I just checked - NOT simple stories, it is a Simple Scrapbooks magazine, special issue called scrapbook shortcuts with quizzes and questions. I will take some photos of some of the quizzes tonight and post them to give you an idea.

I have many pages about me and I make one for each boy and put it in their individual albums. Before when I did family albums they just went in there. Someday I hope to live long enough to split up those family albums somehow.
I also have albums that are totally about me: my school years, college years, Air Force years, childhood, teen years, years in California and England, and my trip to Austria and Germany, etc. I am currently working on my years in Arizona.

TFS all. You all have given me so many ideas for pages. I'm definitely doing this. I have had a blast documenting the family - but w/growing offspring, I think it's time to put some of my own life down - there is very little in a heritage album - but I would like more about my life as an adult and not necessarily as a wife or a mom.

Follow-up question in OP

That's a good question - I don't think there's currently anything in there that I would have an issue with DH and the adult kids reading...I did do a layout about the time I was stabbed at work so I'm not sure DD12 is ready to read that. It's on the shelf with other albums (but not with the family albums) in my bedroom - only family would ever really be in there to grab it and the kids typically grab the family albums and DH doesn't usually flip through albums (except to see the 'just-made' layouts I'm shoing off).
So private by default, I guess?

For the follow up question, I would say it has to be fit for public consumption, or at least for my family's consumption. If I were to get hit by a bus tomorrow, any private journaling would cease to be private.

I recently took it apart and saved the good stories and poems I had written, then trashed the rest. The good stuff got copied over into my memorabilia album which I guess is my “me album”. If I were to die unexpectedly, I would hate to have my husband feel bad if he read about how much I loved my ex boyfriend back then when it’s not even relevant anymore. I don’t even want to read it myself, lol!

Others could look at my me albums if they wanted to, but I'm really the only one that does. I have a couple of pages with journaling written long before I met my DH which is quite personal but I think he'd understand if anything were to happen to me. Probably the most sensitive of that is hidden journaling that others are unlikely to find since there's nothing on the page to indicate it's there, I just know it is tucked between layers.

I did a me album from childhood through two years of college. I haven't done much since then. All I can think of is books I've read in a year page.

I have been thinking of doing one. I started collecting memories in a smashbook a few years ago but didn’t keep up with it. I was thinking of making it a scrapbook/mixed media journal. In fact my very first try at mixed media will go in it, it’s called “How I Feel About Computers”! It would definitely be a for me only book.
It will come in handy when I’m sitting in a nursing home with dementia some day. I can look at the photos and read my story like in 50 First Dates! We sort of made a book like this for my Grandma when she had to move to a home at age 94. She loved it.

So private by default, I guess? Stabbed at work? You know the peas need to know more! I was a cashier working the 6pm-3am shift at a supermarket - just three employees in the store - me, the cashier who was coming ON shift to relieve me, and the ass't manager. A 'customer' demanded the money in the drawer and stabbed me with a paring knife in the back - I didn't even realise it was a knife - just thought he was hitting me until afterwards. An off-duty (in uniform/armed) corrections officer was in the store shopping and came to my assistance - guy ran off but he recognised him and was able to identify him to the police (he was a frequent flier at the prison). I went to the ER and was told how lucky I was - the knife just missed my heart. Guy is a permanent guest of the state of Florida - he had killed a minister earlier in the evening who had been helping him through a halfway program, and robbed a convenience store before robbing the supermarket. He got life for murder and additional time for the robberies/assault with a deadly weapon charges.
