Apparently it’s pretty lively at the hearing with the acting AG..
Walter Shaub...
”Continuing his hysterical meltdown @repdougcollins uses his 5 minutes for political theater and to attack career government official Bruce Ohr for doing his job. The president's congressional allies are determined to make it dangerous for people who try to uphold the rule of law.”
But this from Betty Woodruff is my favorite...
”!!!
Nadler asks Whitaker if he's been asked to approve any of Mueller's moves. Whitaker: “Mr Chairman, I see that your five minutes is up I’m here voluntarily I agreed to five-minute rounds”
Gasps in the room”
It times like this that I can’t help think about Hillary’s 11 hour testimony. I don’t believe she pulled something like this.

with the attitude and arrogance of Whittaker, it's no wonder that people do not trust this administration. and it there is no accountability of the republicans who are trashing all their democratic counterparts, grandstanding and giving their speeches of how they are politically motivated---LOOK IN A FUCKING MIRROR. I am so fucking sick of the republicans saying everything and anything then blaming the democrats for doing what they are doing. It is NOT the democrats who are politicizing this shit...IT IS THE FUCKING REPUBLICANS. NO ONE IS HOLDING THEM ACCOUNTABLE!!! I have said this many times before---one thing that the republicans are good at is attacking and misinformation campaigns. their $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ wealth goes to diminishing anyone who does not share their views.
the republicans and conservatives have turned into a fucking cult.

How CNN got the Stone arrest footage. It's called "journalism". Anybody who is following the investigation could have figured out what happened. This is a huge story. Does anyone really believe that there aren’t people looking out for the grand jury gathering and the next expected indictment? I bet there are reporters at several houses every time they convene. It’s like paps hanging out at LAX. You know there is going to be action, you just don’t know who and when. This is not rocket science.

Oh no!!! Not "fairness"!!!!! Once again with the videos devoid of all context to make some contrived point. Fairness above all is what he said. I find it interesting that they cut him off in mid sentence to make this inane point. What was the rest of his statement? What was his point? I can guarantee you it wasn't "Oh no!!! Not "fairness"!!!!!" as this ignorant tweet is trying to make it out to be.

Devil advocate here again. No worries. It's good to talk it through. A financial transaction tax of .5% on the $1Trillion traded daily would bring into government revenue approx. $5BILLION per trading day. Say the tax cuts down on the number of algo trades, it would still bring in somenumber of billions/day - let's say $3BILLION. Over 220ish trading days/year, thats $660BILLION/year. Why am I taxed on the gas I buy, the phone I use, the house I sell, everything and anything - yet the richest of the rich trade tax free??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Things that make you go HMMMMM. Now imagine using some of that money to up the salaries so that the best and brightest and kindest go into gov't service instead of service to Wall St. or as functionaries to billionaires. More and better teachers, more and better federal and state LEO, more and better planners, more and better research funding, etc., etc., etc. We can't make it as the next wave of automation comes through the next few decades if we don't try UBI and/or FTT and/or higher marginal rates - things that break up that monolith of wealth that moves primarily at the highest echelons of economies - yachts, private jets, mansions, servants, gambling, extravagant parties, factories in low-wage low-environment-reg countries, etc., etc., etc. I’m back! First, Wall Street is not our enemy. I spent my entire adult life working in the West Coast version of Wall Street and it was my choice. In fact, now that I’m retired, I still work for my old employer from time to time. It keeps my mind active, I work from home, and they pay good. So why not? Second, I certainly don’t have any problem with paying the groups you outlined above a higher salary. Here are some numbers... Currently there are 129.63M full time workers plus another 26.8M part-time workers who may or may not be looking for full time. The number of workers you outline above is roughly 25,750,000 of those working full time. The number of construction workers as of 2016 was 10.7M and that number could be higher now. Again they are part of the full-time worker’s number above. The reason I’m including this number is because of the infrastructure job guarantee outlined in The New Green Deal. Do the math, pull out your group and the infrastructure job guarantee group and you still have just shy of 100M full time workers. Many who are near or at the bottom of the income spectrum. Same with the part-timers. What about them? There are currently 6.9M job openings. Since trump took office, and when I first started checking, the job openings have swung from a low of just under 6M to a high of just over 7M. The biggest complaint from employers? They can’t find qualified folks that can pass a drug test. I read there was some type of job in Silicon Valley that the employers couldn't find enough qualified people to fill all the openings , no matter how much they paid. The solution is simple but how it’s accomplished is complex. The solution is is to move the jobs to places that need them the most at the same time making sure there is a viable workforce to handle these jobs. Also preparing for not the “elephant in the room” but “the heard of elephants in the room” and that is affordable housing. And the affordable housing crisis is not caused by Wall Street, but by the individual homeowner and owners of apartments who look around at what the higher income people are making and price the asking prices of the homes they sell or apartments they rent, all the time ignoring those who don’t make as much and thus become priced out of the market. And the answer is not just pay the lower folks on the income spectrum more so they can afford the higher home prices and higher rents. Because there will always be soneone making more and that will always be the benchmark used by those wanting to get as much as they can for their homes or the rents they charge. I think one of the biggest reasons for income inequality is the lack of affordable housing and that is not caused by big corporations or billionaires. What I would like see done is push as many as humanly possible out of the low income/poverty level into the middle class. By expanding the middle class, we have a stable viable tax revenue stream to pay for programs like Medicare for all and two free years at a community college, if they have a robust trade school division. Certainly move the tax bracket for corporations and the rich back to what it was before trump and close all the loopholes. I think what I propose can be accomplished with an honest partnership between state and local governments officials and the private sector. In my county, a year ago the local junior college reached out to the employers in the area, asking what skills they needed from potential employees with the idea of offering classes at the school to address these needs. The local construction unions were offering free classes for that trade. Just recently the country started a working group with the county’s largest manufacturing employers with the goal to make sure the employer and employee have what is needed to keep the employer and employee happy. All being done without huge taxes on the rich. But the “herd of elephants” problem of affordable housing for all must be dealt with as it will go to wherever there is any prosperity. So it would appear what I’m looking for is much bigger then what you and AOC purpose. Who knew.

PolitiFact ...
“On expanded Medicare proposal, Cory Booker cites nonexistent CBO study”
“Sen. Cory Booker, as most Democratic presidential candidates, says he backs some form of Medicare for All. When pressed during an appearance on CBS to say how much the universal government health insurance program would cost, the New Jersey Democrat answered a different question.
"Even the (Congressional Budget Office) says if you lower Medicare to allow 50 year olds to get into it, you can not only save the government money, but you can lower premiums for all Americans," Booker told CBS News on Feb. 4.
There is no such CBO report.
We reached out to Booker’s office, and staff told us he was drawing from a 2017 article in Health Affairs that floated the idea of mandatory enrollment in Medicare when people turn 55 — not 50, as Booker said.”
Why do they feel the need to do this? Now you automatically question everything he says going forward.

“ProPublic and WNYC confirm that Trump's Inaugural Committee paid the Trump's D.C. hotel a rate of $175,000 per day for event space — if the committee is found to have paid an above-market rate, that could violate tax laws prohibiting self-dealing.”

Our field is too large, and we don't want to go into primary season with dozens of choices because no one's voice will be heard clearly. Booker can go, Warren can go, and I'm sure someone else will do something stupid soon and then they can go as well. Let's get down to the candidates who tell the truth. We've had enough lies.

”My representatives have just left North Korea after a very productive meeting and an agreed upon time and date for the second Summit with Kim Jong Un. It will take place in Hanoi, Vietnam, on February 27 & 28. I look forward to seeing Chairman Kim & advancing the cause of peace!”
“North Korea, under the leadership of Kim Jong Un, will become a great Economic Powerhouse. He may surprise some but he won’t surprise me, because I have gotten to know him & fully understand how capable he is. North Korea will become a different kind of Rocket - an Economic one!”
He had one face to face meeting with but he has “gotten to know him & fully”.
Kind of like Bush and looking into Putin’s eyes and seeing his soul or some such nonsense.

“Authorities seize record-setting 1.7 tons of meth worth $1.29 billion at Los Angeles port”
”A joint drug bust between Australian and U.S. authorities in mid-January resulted in a record 1.7 tons of methamphetamine being seized at Los Angeles/Long Beach seaport.
Customs and Border Protection announced the seizure of the three containers on Thursday, which were intended to be shipped to Australia before being searched on Jan. 11. The containers were filled with speakers "artfully" stuffed with the drugs.
In addition to the 3,810 pounds of meth, the shipment also contained 55.9 pounds of cocaine and 11.5 pounds of heroin. Australian officials said the total street value of the haul was $1.29 billion.”
Proof we need that wall at the Southern Border so drugs don’t come through the Los Angles Seaport.

There are days that I really don’t like this country and what it’s turning into. Today is one of those days. I’m not a religious person but understand how important their faith is to those who are. I also know my history and why three tiny ships made their way to this country all those years ago. This is just plain bullshit.
From CBS...
“Dominque Ray execution: Inmate executed after Alabama denies request for imam present”
“Atmore, Ala. -- A Muslim inmate who complained in a legal challenge that Alabama wouldn't let his Islamic spiritual adviser be present in the execution chamber was put to death Thursday after the nation's highest court cleared the way. Dominique Ray, 42, was pronounced dead at 10:12 p.m. of a lethal injection at the state prison in Atmore.
Ray had argued Alabama's execution procedure favors Christian inmates because a Christian chaplain employed by the prison typically remains in the execution chamber during a lethal injection, but the state would not let his imam be present.
Attorneys for the state said only prison employees are allowed in the chamber for security reasons.
Prison system spokesman Bob Horton said Ray was visited by his imam both Wednesday and Thursday. Ray's imam, Yusef Maisonet, watched the execution from an adjoining witness room. There was no Christian chaplain in the chamber.
The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday had stayed the execution over the religious arguments, but the U.S. Supreme Court cleared the way for it to proceed in a 5-4 decision Thursday evening.
Justice Elena Kagan wrote in a dissent that the dissenting justices considered the decision to let the execution go forward "profoundly wrong."
Other states generally allow spiritual advisers to accompany condemned inmates up to the execution chamber but not into it, said Robert Dunham, executive director of the Death Penalty Information Center, which studies capital punishment in the United States.
Durham said did not know of any other state where the execution protocol calls for a Christian chaplain to be present in the execution chamber.
Ray was sentenced to death for the 1995 rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl. Tiffany Harville disappeared from her Selma home on July 15, 1995, and her decomposing body was found one month later in a cotton field.
It was Alabama's first execution of the year.
Ray was convicted in 1999 after another man, Marcus Owden, confessed to his role in the crime and implicated Ray. Owden told police that they had picked the girl up for a night out on the town and then raped her. Owden said that Ray cut the girl's throat. Owden pleaded guilty to murder, testified against Ray and is serving a life sentence without parole.
A jury recommended the death penalty for Ray by an 11-1 vote.
Ray's attorneys had also asked in legal filings to stay the execution on other grounds. Lawyers say it was not disclosed to the defense team that records from a state psychiatric facility suggested Owden suffered from schizophrenia and delusions.
The Supreme Court also rejected that claim Thursday”

The world according to trump..
”The Democrats in Congress yesterday were vicious and totally showed their cards for everyone to see. When the Republicans had the Majority they never acted with such hatred and scorn! The Dems are trying to win an election in 2020 that they know they cannot legitimately win!”
”We have a great economy DESPITE the Obama Administration and all of its job killing Regulations and Roadblocks. If that thinking prevailed in the 2016 Election, the U.S. would be in a Depression right now! We were heading down, and don’t let the Democrats sound bites fool you!”
I think he is confused again. But the bit about “Obama Adminstration and all of its job killing regulations and roadblocks” prove this guy doesn’t care if he trashes the country to make a buck.
