In case you've heard the "news" that 95,000 noncitizens voted in Texas, it's a lie. Standard fearmongering from the Texas GOP, repeated by the fearmonger in chief.
Trump picked up LG Dan Patrick's blatant lie about this.
Here's a thread from the nonpartisan Texas Tribune that gives facts.

I saw this in our local paper as well. Absolutely, investigate it if there are valid concerns. But so many headlines I’m seeing state it as a fact. An excerpt from San Antonio Express News.

There's a lot of info in Carol Anderson's "White Rage" about how political parties (and historically not always Republican, but always white people) have used this kind of fear and disinformation to suppress votes. So, I'll be reading "One Person, No Vote: How Voter Suppression is Destroying our Democracy." www.amazon.com/One-Person-Vote-Suppression-Destroying/dp/1635571375In her New York Times bestseller White Rage, Carol Anderson laid bare an insidious history of policies that have systematically impeded black progress in America, from 1865 to our combustible present. With One Person, No Vote, she chronicles a related history: the rollbacks to African American participation in the vote since the 2013 Supreme Court decision that eviscerated the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Known as the Shelby ruling, this decision effectively allowed districts with a demonstrated history of racial discrimination to change voting requirements without approval from the Department of Justice.
Focusing on the aftermath of Shelby, Anderson follows the astonishing story of government-dictated racial discrimination unfolding before our very eyes as more and more states adopt voter suppression laws. In gripping, enlightening detail she explains how voter suppression works, from photo ID requirements to gerrymandering to poll closures. And with vivid characters, she explores the resistance: the organizing, activism, and court battles to restore the basic right to vote to all Americans.

Texas Tribune stated: "1/ You might be seeing headlines or tweets tonight that claim Texas says 58,000 non-citizens have voted in Texas.
That is not true.
That is not what the state has said."
I read that the 58,000+ goes back to 1996(?) or there abouts............

It's voters whose names loosely match those of people who presented themselves as noncitizens when they got their driver's license. Texas naturalizes 50,000 new citizens every year. The likelihood that these people were noncitizens when they actually voted is very, very slim.

I love how he says “especially in California.” Translation for those of you who don’t speak Trump: he means, “especially in the big state that didn’t go for me.”

I swear, when I read 1984 & Animal Farm I really thought they were fiction. Yes, my teacher told us what it was loosely based on and we did essays on parralells to this or that. But it was still just well written fiction.
Now we do not have just facts & fiction but we’ve added ‘alternative facts’ which I still don’t understand how those are facts at all, of any kind. I’m a bit slow I guess.
These last 2 years I’m beginning to think they were Prophecy. Orwell the prophet.
