and 2 other fabulous actresses! ( see linkee below). www.youtube.com/watch?v=HriuD7MsUak
I did a search to see if there were any threads, but didn't find any. Who's seen this already? Did you laugh the entire time ?!?! I cannot WAIT to see this! !!!! Four awesome actresses hanging out and talking and laughing....... I don't know the two other "dames" names by heart, but I definitely know their work; and I just love the lady from "Doc Marten." Wouldn’t it be awesome if Helen Mirren was in it, too? LOL when Judy Dench tells a story about a "menopausal dwarf"
It came out last Fall, and I can't belieeeeve I'd never heard of it until today, thanks to an old magazine at our vet's office.

The other two are Joan Plowright and Eileen Atkins. I’d forgotten about this - thanks for the reminder, I must make a point of watching it 🙂

I watched it and probably need to watch it again - they get to talking really fast and it gets tough to catch everything they say. But the stories were amazing!

I have it in my Q at Netflix. I think I get it next week. It looked too good to pass up.

I LOVED it! All 4 of them are fabulous actresses and have known each other for ages. The stories are so fun and listening to them giggle...makes me smile thinking about it.

I saw it in the theater and really enjoyed it. I loved the old clips from when they were young, and I loved the camaraderie of being friends and colleagues for so long.

My DH and I watched it this weekend after seeing this post last week. I let my Mom know as well as I knew she'd know more of the stuff from the 60s (we all immigrated from England in 1965 so these Dames are all near and dear). She told me that the one lady I wasn't familiar with was one of the writers of Upstairs Downstairs years ago.
It was fantastic. I was sad to see that Joan Plowright had lost her eyesight, but definitely not her zest for life.
I'd love to be besties with Maggie and Judi - my gosh they're such fun.
Love the absence of stretched faces and plastic surgery - they're just so real and lovely.

I wonder if you are confusing Jean Marsh who wrote and acted in some of Upstairs Downstairs with Eileen Atkins who was one of the Dames in the film? I totally agree with Judi ana Maggie seem so much fun, if a little waspish!!

I wonder if you are confusing Jean Marsh who wrote and acted in some of Upstairs Downstairs with Eileen Atkins who was one of the Dames in the film? Nope - she's also listed on IMDB as a writer - I thought my Mom was mistaken as well which is why I checked. She was a writer on the newer version for 9 episodes and was the Associate Series Creator of the original version from 1971-1975

I see she also co-wrote The House of Elliott with Jean Marsh, which I used to enjoy when it aired. Dame Eileen and Jean Marsh look like they could have been sisters!

My Dad is visiting, and he and I are fans of all things British !!! DH has no interest in it ---and I have NO problem watching things by myself--- but it'll be WAY more fun with my Dad! I'll probably re-watch it again with one of my best friends, who will also LOVE it! FINALLY gonna watch it tonight, after I make some yummy popcorn!
