The assault wasn't "buried." Don't say things that aren't true. The paper that the woman went to, The Washington Post, could not journalistically justify running the story at that time. Your post really upsets me. How do you know it isn't true? Do you have an "in" at the Washington Post to let you know for certainty that the post wasn't buried, or are you just speculating? I was sexually assulted about ten years ago by a person I was casually dating. I didn't tell anyone, even though my gut tells me he had done it before. You can be sure if he ever runs for office or holds a position of regard I will make it known what he did to me. There is no evidence, so people like you would assume that it must be some political ploy. Nope. He drugged me and I didn't tell anyone. I’m sorry my post upset you. I think maybe you misunderstood what I was saying. I don’t believe the WaPo intentionally “buried” the story, because they reported on their OWN reporting process, and described a months-long investigation. A choice not to publish because of lack of info is different from “buried,” which has loaded connotations and indicates some kind of political or financial motivation. I DO believe that Fairfax should step down. And I believe you, as an assault survivor myself. I hope you understand what my post meant, now; it was not about not believing the women. It was about how the newspaper approached the story (which they’ve been transparent about). Best to you, and big hugs.
