Hello! I just bought a Canon Selphy CP1300. I tried printing a couple of test prints and it seems like it prints a little dark. Is there settings somewhere where I can lighten them up a bit? They aren't terribly dark, but I would like them to be a little brighter.
Thanks!

I have an older Selphy. I always edit my photos on my phone or my computer. If there is a brightness setting, it'd be in the menu. Click the menu button and go into the settings. There should be a menu section where you can change your brightness/luminosity and colors.

My pictures on my phone seem light enough, so I didn't edit any further. If needed, I will just lighten the ones that I know I am going to print.

If you have an SD card handy I've heard that printing from them results in better prints. I haven't tried it yet. My 1200 prints too dark too.
ETA: I tried raising the brightness in the machine and couldn't really tell much of a difference. We were printing from a phone so we ended up using an app to lighten it a bunch on the phone, then printed. Not the best workaround.

Are you printing from your computer or phone? I find in the selphy app, the pictures are lovely on their own w/o adjustment/brightening. On the mac photos app though, I usually have to bump up the brightness if I print from there.

I usually have to lighten my prints regardless of where I have them printed. They’re almost always too dark for me. I edit them on the computer and then print.

In Windows I've had more luck right clicking and using print instead of printing from the Photos app. I do like the ease of the photos app for lightening and color adjusting. I prefer a slightly saturated (yet natural) look. I often tweak them with the photos app even if I upload them to a photo processing company.

Longtime Selphy user-I've had the easiest and best results from using the Pic Tap Go app on mobile and Rad Lab on MacBook. I use "lights on" for almost every photo before printing-it works!

Thank you all for the information. I am printing right from my phone. I did figure out how to lighten them a bit. Now I have to figure out how to stop the top of the pictures from being cut off. I printed a few pictures and it's really cropping them tight.

Mine prints very dark too. I have to lighten my photos quite a bit, and then they look washed-out. When I had my Selphy 910, the prints were better. Towards the end of its life (about 4 months ago, when Canon wouldn't repair it), the prints were dark too. I think they changed the formulation of the paper/ink cartridges. I'm not so happy with it anymore.

OK. I did a little Googling and found some info. If you go into the settings on the Selphy itself, you can change the brightness settings. I bumped mine up to +2, and the prints are much better. I did have to print from a flash drive for the settings to work. I'm sure that an SD card would work too. It didn't work when I printed from my computer via WiFi. I'll have to try from my phone next time. But I think that whatever device you use has to be directly connected to the printer.
