I like my job. I really do. But two days off a week, isn't enough. I feel like we need to work 4 and have 3 off. We need one day to clean and run errands, one day to do fun stuff, and one day to just relax. That's my opinion and I'll defend it to death...lol... Yes! I had a friend who didn't take long vacations and took every Monday off. With those days and vacation days, she had nearly enough for the whole year. She was very happy. Me too, and I really don’t feel well (stomach issues) but I’ve just been at job for 3 months so feel like I can’t even call in sick if I wanted to. I’ll suck it up and get dressed and go, probably. Lol. Oi. I'm sorry. That's rough. I hope you feel better. I know this doesn't compare at all, but I just ate half a can of cashews and my stomach is seriously complaining, so I cannot imagine with your real issues you don't feel much worse. DH retired 5 years ago, due to his health. He's also 4 years older than me. I am planning to retire in September. I have my fingers crossed that nothing happens to derail the plan. Simply filled with envy. Same. It snowed overnight and then got pretty cold (low teens) so the freeways were packed snow in some places, black ice in others, and chunky ice/snow sheets in others so the drive to work was stressful. Only 12+ years until I can retire... Living in VA is nice. The minute snow is suggested, our office tells us to work from home! Mondays should be mandatory work from home days 🤣🤣 This should go without saying. My retirement date is June 30th. I am ready now but gotta wait until I turn 62. Will be the longest 4.5 months of my life. OMG myboysnme that is SO SO SO soon!!! Please tell us the first thing you're going to do. Do you have fun plans? Can you give yourselves something to look fwd to after work? After today only 4 days until the weekend. haha. My fun thing to look forward to is driving to get my son at school (2 hours), driving him back for a 15mn dental appointment to look at his graft healing, then back to drop him off and back home. 8 hours, one vacation day and I will be good for nothing in the evening. However, it's a 3-day weekend this weekend!!! But just think, when you get home, you will have an empty couch on which to lounge! Silver linings! This just made me laugh. Because you know what 950nancy? That is EXACTLY what I was thinking! I have had kids home the past 2 weekends, and while I love them so much, I love being home on my lovely new couch even more. My daughter brought a friend home with her (a friend from Switzerland, so different culture) and he said to me, "this is your new couch? It's so big!" He was clearly completely confused. I told him I'm picking my next house to go with it. He did not understand at all. Same. I had such a great break over Christmas- 4 weeks off and it’s been a struggle ever since I got back. I want to say that after 4 weeks off you're not allowed to complain, but I am all but certain that I'd be complaining, too! My DH's weekends are Tu,Wed. I have regular weekends off. He just got this schedule in January, and it sucks. He used to have Fri, Sat off. Then at least we shared a day.... this really sucks. Today is his Fri. That totally stinks!!! Is it going to change? I can't imagine that too many people want a schedule like that? Why can't they have people work Tu-Sat and Sun to Fri? I'm sorry!

They have all kinds of schedules, its pretty much a 24 hour operation. He will have this schedule for 2 years. So not forever. I take off one Tuesday a month, and he takes off one Saturday a month.

OMG myboysnme that is SO SO SO soon!!! Please tell us the first thing you're going to do. Do you have fun plans? My immediate plans include a trip to Calif to visit my son with no vacation deadline for the first time ever! I am going to watch my new Granddaughter starting the end of Aug for a day or two a week so her mom can work. I am going to visit my mom and begin the process if looking for a place for her to live nearer to me. The beginning of the reorganization and purge/downsizing of our home and.... Lots of mid day naps!! Other plans include visits to friends in Texas and in NYC.

I'm so glad I'm off this week! I covered my coworker who was off the last two weeks, so since I work part time, the number of days she was off, I'm taking off. When I get back to work next week on Thursday, I have Friday, the following Monday and Thursday to work and so when I get off on the 28th, I'm officially RETIRED!!! I turned 67 on my birthday, DH retired when he was 62 in 2007 so he could run for Governor (Lions Club) The that weekend, I'm going to PlannerCon to treat myself! Yay me! LOL!!

Do not be crazy jealous when I tell you that I have to: Drive 2 h ours in the pouring rain and partly pouring snow (when I go over the mountain pass) to get my son at college.
Drive 2 hours back home for a 15-minute dental appointment (pretty important)\
Drive 2 hours back to his school - still rain, but hopefully no snow.
Drive 2 hours back home

It's my first PlannerCon. I heard/read that this one was not anything like Go Wild, plus I think it's not all the same players in this group. I'm going solo, too so it should be interesting. I'll report back!

You win for a crummy day off. One of my appointments is the dentist, too. 1 filling repair and the beginning of 2 crowns, all 3 teeth in a row😖

We were paid full time, but worked 9 hours Monday - Thursday, it was so wonderful. I was truly rested after the weekends and really to return bright eyed to work. It made going to the doctors, running errands and taking short vacations easier without interrupting work. And as a group, man were we happy with our jobs. People worked really hard to get their jobs done, happy to go above and beyond, and sometimes we would come in on Fridays when needed and that was a good option to have. It really created a great, uninterrupted work environment and happy, loyal employees. When they switched to start including Fridays I asked my boss if he felt more work would get done and he admitted that no, he didn’t. And it really negatively changed the atmosphere.
