I am a voracious reader, but have a truly obscene number of e-books that I own but have not yet read. So I promised myself a couple years ago that I wouldn’t buy any e-books that my local library carries. I’d put myself on the waitlist and get it when I get it (since I have so many unread books already, it’s not like I’ve got a shortage of things to read). I’ve stuck to that.
But now there is a new release that I totally want to read NOW. And I am number one on the wait list - on six copies - so my wait should not be long. It could be available tomorrow morning! But I want it nooooooow. I am having tremendous difficulty not just buying it lol
Sometimes, I can be really ridiculous about dumb things. What are your silly weaknesses?

Altoids. I have no will power when I have a tin of them. I avoid buying them because I crave that minty mintiness so badly and just eat them 3 or 4 at a time.

I bet I have 40 tins of them in my closet. I got them for free because they were expired. I have had them in my closet for 2.5 years. I like them, I just forget I have them. I made a penuche fudge at Christmas and froze 5/6 of it since I am the only one who likes it. It is even better frozen.

Yes. Often. Usually it’s just procrastinating things I don’t particularly want to do, especially if it involves leaving my house when the weather is crap.

Probably one of my top five things about being retired. I love not having to drive 20 miles in ice or slush. I live in a city with 5 army bases and lots of people are new to driving in snow each year and it can be more harrowing to deal with inexperienced snow drivers.

my computer game - it is silly to spend money on it, but I do. I have restricted myself to Sundays only for spending any money on it and I won't spend more than $10.But really that is way too much too.

Do I ever lack self-discipline (about silly things)?
I refuse to answer this on the grounds that it will incriminate me.

Self-discipline for me would be cutting back on gifts for holidays.

I lack self discipline about certain craft supplies. I might even already own something I could use, but if I get it in my mind, I have to order it online or if a store has it, stop and get it.

Burt's Bees Lip Balm. I have too many as it is, but every new flavor that comes out ends up in my shopping cart to be tried.

Because of course I need a new game to play!

I want to know what book it is! lol The Lost Man by Jane Harper. I loved The Dry (Force of Nature was good too) and mysteries are my guilty pleasure. I'm buried with work lately and having an entertaining diversion that has nothing to do with anything of consequence is just what I need. Of course, I already have plenty of books that would fit the bill but for some reason, this one just really is calling me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ebooks are a weakness for me, too.
I can't have Sour Patch Kids candy in the house.
Good chocolate is a problem.
I think I've broken my need to keep buying scrapbook supplies. I went through everything and it was eye opening.

Yes! With everything! If I get something in my mind that I want, I eventually have to get it. Books, clothes, supplies for whatever craft phase I'm going through, cycling gear... I get fixated on things and can't say no. I need to get a library card and try to get ebooks from my local library but I don't know how to put them on my Kindle

I buy paper tablets and notebooks and storage containers small and large. I have boxes of lined paper, lose and in tablets. I also cannot pass up a storage box, large or small. I have a ton of those too. I probably won't stop buying them anytime soon.

You would just click on that and it should download directly to your Kindle either through a cord hooked to your computer or WiFi. You really should get that library card and try it. I love, love, love having access to all of those books from home.

I'm number #300 on ebooks from the library, so yes the wait is long and then I turn the wifi off my kindle so I can keep them longer because a bunch come in at once.

Fountain drinks with 1/2 diet coke 1/2 coke! I wish it was good for you!
I could easily avoid junk food if I could always have a fountain drink on hand. It puts me in a good mood and I don't mind eating healthy if I have my soda. But I try not to drink too much of it, and I am more moody and more likely to eat junk all day the days I don't let myself drink soda.

yes. first it was with buying SB supplies but thankfully i'm cured of that. LOL.
i also collect vintage typewriters. particularly ones that are cursive. there was a time when i was buying them up right and left. they weren't that cheap either. thankfully i've dialed back on that too.
there are also the purse....oh so many that still have tags on them....definitely lack of self discipline there

I can only control my ebook addiction by subscribing to Kindle unlimited. I force myself to stick to books available in that platform like 80% of the time.
But, in your case, that would drive me nuts. Just buy the book! 🤣
