Great news. I bet the oncologist could help you get approval to see the doctor he recommended.

I hope that everything goes well. It's hard to be the person to have to hold everything together. I hope you're just seeing the bad side and the good side will present itself to you tomorrow. Lots and lots of hugs. I will be thinking of you. You know how that goes! It might be why I've been geting migraines and feeling helpless lately. It's tough when I'm his cheerleader and caregiver and I'm finding it so hard now. Thank you for your words. I was in the car for 8 hours yesterday and thought of you SO much. I am SO SO SO happy with the great news!!!! What a relief that must be to both of you! Yay!!!!

I just read your update....WOW !!! Did either of you get ANY sleep last night? Hopefully you will both sleep soundly tonight! Last night, you mentioned he was having trouble breathing, and felt very weak. Did they listen to his lungs? How's his breathing today? The oncologist didn't examine him. He said that since his lungs were clear of cancer (they do show scarring from emphysema), he needs to give the antibiotics another day to feel better. Amazingly, when we got home, DH sounded so much better with his breathing & he did his nebulizer treatment. We had lots of cuddle time and went to bed early & slept! Relief!!

Great news. I bet the oncologist could help you get approval to see the doctor he recommended. I AM going to have DH call him today, just for that! Just so the oncologist puts that at the top of his report. He sends it to the primary, unfortunately, and he could state what his recommendations are, but his primary is the only one to approve that appointment. Since it's out of her circle of doctors/hospitals, it'll keep getting denied. I'm hoping that the oncologist will make it clear that all other urologists he's seen CANNOT do the surgery because he's a high risk, so he needs a better doctor and hospital. We'll work on it asap! Thanks for the suggestion!
THANK YOU to every single person who took the time to post on this thread!! You all have been so very supportive and kind. It means the world to me. This is a new phase in DH's cancer and I was just out of my mind with worry. Now we'll move onto the next step while we have time. We're enjoying yesterday's news and appreciating life right now. Thank you all again!! xo

I only "know" you from your posts here but I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes over your good news. And because I am a fighter like you, I know you will have the right doctor at the right time because it's just what you do. I'm so very happy for news and hope you both can relax and inhale all of it.

I am so glad that y'all got good news today. I feel like you both really needed it. Is the urologist not able to put in a referral to see someone at Moffitt or TGH? Hope you are able to get that worked out and have a little space to sit back and breathe.

I am so worried and scared for DH'S oncology appointment tomorrow. We'll find out if his bladder cancer spread & will know his staging. DH has felt terrible lately and has a bad UTI. He's been so weak and tired and his breathing has been awful. He said that he feels like the cancer spread to his lungs. We won't know anything until tomorrow. I'm trying to be positive for DH, but on the inside I'm crumbling. Just had to get that out. I'm sure I'll ask questions here if it doesn't go well.
2/12/19 UPDATE: Just got home from the appointment. DH had to take a xanax before the doctor came in--he was that anxious! I accidentally gave him his Xarelto by mistake! Oops!!! The nurse gave him snacks to eat. You can tell I'm out of sorts.........
GOOD NEWS: The Oncologist said that there is no new cancer according to the CT scans. I got a copy of the report. The kidneys show some change, so we have to watch out for that now too, but there's no cancer anywhere.
He wants DH to go back to his Urologist for another cystoscopy (every 3 months) and if there's another tumor, get it removed. We're used to that process. He wants DH to see a qualified Urology surgeon either at Moffitt or Tampa General Hospital. I'll fight to try to get him to see this doctor although his primary doctor will see a clean CT scan and insist that there's no reason to go to another doctor! The Oncologist said that if he keeps going to his regular Urologist, all he could do it to keep removing the tumors and just wait until the cancer spreads and then there's only chemo and radiation as a course of treatment; the removal of the bladder is his best bet. I'll try to fight for it.
That's it! We are both so happy and exhausted too. Thank you ALL for your prayers and your supportive words. It means the world to me to have someone to tell this to and helps me help DH more, so, THANK YOU!!!
I’m so glad to hear your news. Now try to get some rest, you two and hopefully he’ll feel better soon!! So glad for you!!
