As scrappers and card makers, I'd expect that we send out cards more often than the non scrapping population.
So I was wondering, how often do you RECEIVE cards. Handmade or store bought.
To answer my own question:
Usually four to five cards a year. (My parents are responsible for three of those cards)

From my family, two cards a year, store bought and for my birthday.
From the Birthday Club here at 2peasrefugees, I receive about a dozen birthday cards. I have also received Christmas cards from the members.
From the organizations to which I donate cards, I receive a couple thank you cards. This usually happens if the person collecting the cards is a card maker. I just received one last week and the note had such kind words. Made my day/week/month!
Over the course of the year, I receive a couple of holiday and "no reason" cards from my card making friends.

10+ Christmas cards, usually store bought, many photo cards 2 valentines from family, photo cards in lieu of Christmas cards 5 or so thank you cards 5 or so invites/save the dates/birth announcements A couple other just because cards, one of my best friends loves greeting cards and so does my boss so I often get cards from them for little things
Usually none of the cards I receive are homemade, many are personalized photo cards from companies like minted, others are store bought.

I receive from the birthday club here, mainly handmade plus 2-4 other birthday cards from family usually store bought.
Most, but not all, Christmas cards are photo cards these days. I'm probably down to 5-10 from friends and family. I receive also from the birthday club and the pokeys here. I've joined the 2ps swap 2 years ago and hope to do it this year as well. I love it.
That said, I suck at sending cards. If I'm sending a card for your birthday, it'll probably be late. I need to just send them because cards too and let people know I'm thinking of them.

I'm not from a very card-centric culture so I receive a few cards for my birthday, one for Valentine's Day and maybe three-ish for Christmas. Occasionally, I'll receive the one single Easter card from a family member living abroad.
I scrambled to put together a Valentine's Day card yesterday and just loved doing it despite being in a major hurry and having access to what I'd grabbed quickly before leaving home. It was just three StazOn inks, a blank card, a couple of pieces of scraps and the one stamp set but it reminded me how much I enjoy making cards even if I'm crap at it. I should totally make 2019 my card year!

I get a few store bought cards from extended family and friends. My best friend, will send a handmade card if she has time to make one (she is a scrapper and card maker too). Otherwise she will send a store bought card. She doesn't want the occasion to be missed, so figured a card is better then no card. My sister-in-law, who got me started making cards 20 years ago, always gives handmade cards for all occasions (except Christmas) but since she is doesn't make them anymore, the cards are usually mine that I gift to her. So I get my own cards back from her with a hand written note inside. She figured I would love the card since I made it. lol

I have IRL cardmaking friends so I get quite a few hand-made cards for each "holiday", my birthday and thank you's throughout the year.
I received three Happy Valentine's Day and one Happy Galentine's Day card this year.
At Christmas we receive about 20 cards, mostly store purchased, a few family photo cards and of course the hand-made from my regular card-makers.

Usually four a year. Two at Christmas and two for my birthday from my mom and MIL. Always store bought.

Handmade cards, about 6, all from scrapping buddies.
Store bought, probably about the same number, all from family members.

As a Millennial, I can attest, anecdotally, to the fact that my friends and I love going to the store and browsing for the best, most hilarious card to fit a situation. I’ve even done it with my coworker buddies for an office birthday or if someone is leaving the company. Made some good memories cracking up in the greeting card aisle at Target or Walgreens.

Yeah, I'm one of those 'I really don't care about cards' folks. You may want to stop reading here if you get warm, fuzzy feelings sending cards...
Yearly, personally addressed rather than to the household? One, for my birthday from an aunt, though I've expressed a desire she stop. I don't open them, they go straight to the recycle with the flyers and junk mail. I hate getting cards - they're just stuff that I'm forced to deal with or clutter up space. The last handmade card I got was from my grandmother, many years ago. Don't remember what happened to that one but probably the same thing unless mum squirreled it away. She doesn't like how quickly I dispose of stuff, but I just don't get sentimentally attached to pieces of paper.

My MIL sends a card for every holiday incl Valentines and Thanksgiving, plus birthdays and Christmas. FIL usually just for Xmas and maybe a birthday card. My family and friends overseas send cards for birthdays and a few times a year for other reasons - usually with a letter enclosed. I have a couple of other friends who send cards for some holidays or just because. None are handmade unless they're sending my one of the cards I made for them >.< lol My SIL sends a fair number of notecards (every 2-3 months?).
We get a handful of Christmas cards from other people, some store bought, some photo cards. I put them up on the sideboard for a while and then I have a little box where I keep the ones that have something meaningful about them - a message or an image that appealed or was thoughtfully chosen. MIL's go into the recycle within a few days because they're hypocritical nonsense for the most part.
I was raised as a letter writer so I try to send out cards to friends and family every few months - or if I need to send someone something I'll do it in a card with a bit of a message inside.

I get lots of cards. My mom sends them for every occasion. My BFF from childhood and I have had a letter-writing relationship for over 30 years (we see each other once or twice a year) - she takes beautiful photos and has them made into notecards, so I get lots of those each year. I get commercial or photo Christmas cards from family and friends, and of course I get lovely handmade birthday and Christmas cards from a couple of crafty pals.
I dearly love written correspondence. I do NOT keep everything people send me - even handmade lovelies get recycled when they cease making me happy.

We get a lot of cards. My dad (78) makes all of his grand kids a handmade card for Easter, Christmas, and their birthday. He sends his kids handmade birthday cards and a handmade card on Mothers Day. It's cute. He will usually draw and paint on them. I treasure them. They are in the same category of cards that you keep when your kids make them in school.
Otherwise, I get store-bought cards from my sister through out the year. I get handmade cards from the Peas Birthday group. For Christmas, I usually get photo cards and store bought cards, except from the Peas.

When we travel, I love to pop into a boutique or similar type store with cards. I always find the best cards when I travel. I have some pretty funny/rude cards that I keep in a drawer for that special person.

Today I received 2 birthday cards from my scrapbooking friends, my birthday was in January but this was the first time we got together since then. Both were handmade.
I received a handmade Valentine Day card from a scrapping friend. I got two store bought birthday cards. Since we send Christmas cards we get more in return. We get handmade from scrapbooking friends, 5-6. Store bought from friends and family, 7-8. And I’m part of the card exchange here so we get probably 40-50 Christmas cards each year, a mix of store bought and homemade.
I feel I get a nice amount of cards each year. I also get a birthday card from my co-workers and Christmas cards from co-workers.

Not too many anymore these days. I usually get a card on Mother’s Day from DD and another from a favorite niece. Maybe one or two birthday cards. No Valentines because DH isn’t a card guy, he doesn’t buy anniversary cards either. We get a handful of thank you notes from several people throughout the year. I got a lot more Christmas cards than I expected to get since I didn’t get ours sent out on time.

Zero cards. My late mother was the one that really loved sending and receiving cards. There were some aunts (both mine and my DH) that were regular card and letter ( now there’s another dying art) senders. They are mostly all gone now. My only living sister lives around the corner from me now, so we both stopped exchanging cards.
I joined the large NSBR Christmas card exchange here and participated for 3-4 years, but decided to pass this year. I do participate in a birthday card exchange on Cardmaking board. We did a small group Christmas card exchange this year, too. I’m so glad I did. I really missed receiving and sending cards. It’s such a happy, fun thing to do.
