Congratulations, I’m very happy for you! I like the tile and countertop in the bathroom Yeah, gotta say the master bath really sold us on it; that and the pool area. I saw the photos and said "I think I need a plate of grapes by that tub!" Can't believe it's really going to be ours! gorgeous home, congratulations. Just want to say, I could LIVE in your bathroom!!!!

What part of FL? We're looking to buy a house down there and that looks like everything we always shop for. Exciting! maybe we'll be neighbors Tampa metro area. We looked in Valrico, Brandon and Riverview. From any of those areas it's quick and easy to access Tampa proper. Also Brandon has pretty much everything in the way of shopping you could possibly need; flip side is the traffic is pretty bad! One thing that is quite different about Florida, and this is true of much of the state, is that there are "bad" areas right alongside "good" ones. You can drive by multiple dilapidated mobile homes then immediately go into a lovely subdivision of beautiful houses that are well maintained. We've seen this time and time again. We're just accepting that it's one of the differences to anywhere we've lived. One great thing is the freeways and highways. They are far more efficient and in many cases have more lanes than what we had in the Seattle area. So even though there are places and times when traffic is bad, it still is usually easier to get around. And of course there's the weather. We liked the Jacksonville area, but found it has a winter (it was in the 50's several days we were there). We really didn't want that. The average high for Tampa in February is 72, but we've actually been way above that most days this month, running 82-86. It's nuts! I keep having to remind myself that it's only February!

Lovely! Where did you end up in Florida? Not being nosy but I need to know which airport to fly into. If you’re closing on the 4th I can be there by the afternoon on the 5th. That should give you a day to get my room ready. I’ll bring 🍷! LOL, too funny! Actually our furniture won't be there yet, so you'd be sleeping on the floor! All we'll have is two air mattresses. And I intend to buy floating thingys for the pool (in UK we called them lilos, and for the life of me I can't think what they're called here), so I guess you could sleep on that, lol! Hubby says that timing is perfect, you can help us unpack! We'll be in Valrico. East of Tampa, still considered the Tampa metro area. The Tampa/St Pete metro area is very large, both in size and population. And Clearwater beach is heaven (the actual beach not the town)!

I spend a lot of time in the bathroom anyway (use your imagination) but at least now I have a heavenly one! And I haven't really been able to take a bath for 14 years, so you KNOW I'm gonna make good use of that one!

Thank you so much for all the wonderful good wishes and kind comments. Thank you thank you thank you.
So our old house, on Bainbridge Island, is undergoing a major renovation. Our daughter who still lives in the area sent us another picture. They are even changing the outside front of the house, taking away part of the roof and putting in a gable, changing the paint color from blue to cream with grey trim, and covering the brick (small area) with tile. They are apparently going for a farmhouse look. I can't wait to see photos of the finished thing. And I hope it sells for a LOT, as we get a percentage. I reckon it will be listed for over a million. Hope I'm right! WOOT!

wow!! the new place looks amazing!! hope you settle in well. i always do a double take when i see porched in pools (as a canadian)... and think.. that is so weird. but we don't have alligators so ya...
That enclosure around the pool also should make pool maintenance easier--no leaves to dip out on a daily baisis.
Zella--Everything looks wonderful. I hope you have many happy years in this home.

Congratulations- it looks lovely. I’m glad your plans worked out well. One caution though - I just moved into a rented house with black countertops and they show every tiny smudge or speck of dust immediately after cleaning them. I’m constantly wiping them down - it’s such a pain. If you decide to go for black - try to choose one with a pattern rather than a solid so you can’t see the dust particles so much.

Thanks for that thought. Our choice has some mica in it, so it's not just flat black, but that might not be enough. Nothing set in stone yet (ha! pun!), so we'll take that into consideration.
