IMO, nothing. I may be British, but I'm actually anti-monarchy. I think it's a ridiculous outdated thing. He's just a person. He eats, peeps and poops just like we all do. I should say I'm also against the class system in general, and the use of titles. I think it's absurd and unnecessary. May not be a popular opinion in Britain but there ya go.

There are celebrities who get more attention than he does! At least he actually has some skills and class.

I appreciate he's military trained and has a degree.
But we all know military/4 year degree people.
Other than his Grandparent's and lineage, what makes him "special"?
I don't subscribe to Hollywood Royalty, either. So a person's successful in their field, why does singing or acting set him/her apart?
I guess $$$ doesn't make a person more important or newsworthy imho.

I think there will always be feelings of endearment for Diana's boys.

I don’t think he is special other than his royal status. I would also prefer to see a lot less of the Kardashians and their body parts. Celebrity doesn’t mean much these days. But there are more annoying celebrities than Prince William.

In a world full of Kardashian’s and reality “stars”, Prince William is deserving of a post like this?
Okay then.

He’s a direct descendant of William the Conqueror. I find that more interesting than most people’s lineage.

I can’t actually think of a thing William has done to discredit his title. 🤷🏻♀️
By all accounts he seems to take it seriously, and his job and charity commitments (which are part of his title) seriously. Even if you don’t care for the monarchy, he can’t help what family he was born into, he’s certainly been someone the family can be proud of. Having all that money and a title didnt spare him the tragic loss of his mother, did it?

Compassion, kindness, honor, gallantry. William and Harry would have been great men no matter what their station in life was.

But there are more annoying celebrities than Prince William. Like Paris Hilton, back in the day? Or Eric Trump today? Being born to privileged wealthy parents.....It's not a skill. But at least William and Harry seem to do something to give back to the world. I've seen countless images of William and Kate and Harry in various orgs lending a hand or bringing donations. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_William,_Duke_of_Cambridge#Patronages_and_interests

I admire the fact that he has taken his family name/royalty/wealth advantage and done admirable work . Yes, it's true that other people without his advantages have also done good things. But he had no control over what family he was born into, he only has control over what he does with his advantages. There has never been a scandalous moment connected with William. There are plenty of people who have been given much more and done much less with it.

Also, unless the British monarchy is completely dissolved by the time Charles passes, it's only a matter of time before he's a head of state, which is kinda important (even if less powerful than head of government).

I don't understand the OP. Of course, most people wouldn't care without his title. Most people wouldn't know who he is. That goes for most famous people...without X nobody would care.
Seems like you are bitter for some reason.

In general, I am not a fan of giving huge accolades to people just for who they were born to. I do think that William and Harry seem like good people and like that they do charitable work. I don't think it is necessarily comparing apples to apples when comparing them to celebrities. Most celebrities had to achieve something to get to be celebrities. They weren't just born into a certain family.

His children, his family, those he gives back to and supports philanthropically.
His coworkers and those he helped when he was an Air Ambulance pilot.
And as a member of the royal family, there are many responsibilities they fulfill all year long.
“The role of the Royal Family — which includes William and Kate — is to assist the Queen in carrying out her duties and also to carry out work in areas of public and charitable service, according to the official website of the British Royal Family. Overall, every year, the Royal Family as a whole carries out over 2,000 official engagements (which can include things like state funerals, national festivities or presenting honors); entertains over 70,000 people at dinners, lunches, receptions and garden parties at the royal residences; and receives and answers 100,000 letters. There are also around 3,000 organizations that list a member of the Royal Family as a patron or president, according to Buckingham Palace. William and Prince Harry also established the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, where Kate serves as a patron. The foundation tackles a number of philanthropic projects, ranging from mental health awareness to cyberbullying initiatives to wildlife conservation.”
I think all that is pretty admirable and would be missed by many if he was gone.
So tell us OP, what is so special about you? (Other than the epic discord and judging you’ve blessed us with that is...)
Who would care if you ceased to exist?

He's a "celebrity" because he's directly in line to be the King of England someday and is the father of the next person after him as well. I'm glad that he's a credit to his country, and have no idea why you're annoyed by him. The fact is "the big deal" IS his title.

Seems like you are bitter for some reason. Like it or not, he is famous because of his birthright. It doesn't make him a better human being than anyone else, but he has been under a microscope from birth because of it. So far he seems to be using it for good.

The big deal is that he and his brother use their position to better lives for people with mental health issues, soldiers with life changing issues and even children who have lost a parent. They also serve their country when they didn’t have too. Can you say that you have done that? Your children ?

No kidding. What a fucking blight on society he is, spending his days visiting sick children and old people and all that work for mental health awareness and normalization. Good lord. Using all those hours every day attending functions to basically THANK regular people for being awesome contributing citizens to Great Britain. Jackass.
Conversely, congratulations on your own recent, significantly more impactful, charity work, teach4u.

First off, every body is special in their own way. Don’t discount him just because you think he’s not a worthy human because he was born into the royal family.
Second, he really does seem to be a genuinely nice person. Isn’t that a refreshing change from the sniveling, conniving, elitists we typically see born into wealth and privilege?

I reckon the OP is miffed because another Pea got a Christmas card from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and she didn’t.
I can’t be bothered arguing the toss with someone who quite simply has no clue what she’s talking about. Thank you to the Peas who have stood up for him so eloquently.
